Yo they are mad strict these days with verifying self-employment. My buddy just got hit with a $22k overpayment bill cuz they said his documentation wasn't sufficient. He submitted Schedule C but they wanted more proof that he was actually working before covid. Def include anything else you can find.
Send Schedule C plus any of these if you have them: - Proof of advertising your services - Business cards - Website screenshots - Client testimonials - Social media posts about your work - Text messages arranging jobs They're looking for anything that proves you were legitimately self-employed and not just claiming it to get benefits.
bruh i've been dealing with ny unemployment for 2 years now and the ONLY way i've ever gotten anything resolved is by talking to an actual human on the phone. save yourself the stress and use claimyr.com to get someone on the line. worth every penny when ur benefits are on the line.
am i the only one who thinks its ridiculous we have to jump through all these hoops just to get what we're entitled to? like we already lost our jobs and now we gotta deal with this broken system??? 🤮
Check if her phone has any location history from 2020 that might show her at the workplace consistently. Sounds weird but I know someone who used this successfully!
The whole point of emergency unemployment during the pandemic was to help EVERYONE including cash workers. Now they're trying to claw it all back. Absolutely disgusting how NY unemployment is treating people.

The fact that the burden of proof is on US and not THEM is so backwards. They would not have paid you if you had not certified - that's literally how the system works! I wrote a letter stating exactly that, along with my bank statements showing regular payments, and fortunately they accepted it. You shouldn't need to prove something they already know happened.

Just to add another success story - I sent them a signed statement saying I certified weekly as required, along with my payment proofs. Got approved without issues. Don't overthink it - they're just checking boxes for some audit requirement.
