I used to work at unemployment (not in NY but similar system). The $0 wage issue is usually because the computer pulls from the quarterly wage report database. If your employer messed up the reporting or the system glitched during import, your wages vanish. An actual human needs to manually override it. Regular agents can't do this - only hearing officers or claims specialists have the access.
typical government efficiency 🤡
NY unemployment is alive and well my friend! Just make sure u answer all the questions honestly and keep detailed records of your job search. They sometimes do random audits where they ask for proof that you've been looking for work.
Bruh unemployment has been around since forever. It's not going anywhere. Go claim ur money!! 💰
The fact that the burden of proof is on US and not THEM is so backwards. They would not have paid you if you had not certified - that's literally how the system works! I wrote a letter stating exactly that, along with my bank statements showing regular payments, and fortunately they accepted it. You shouldn't need to prove something they already know happened.
Yo they are mad strict these days with verifying self-employment. My buddy just got hit with a $22k overpayment bill cuz they said his documentation wasn't sufficient. He submitted Schedule C but they wanted more proof that he was actually working before covid. Def include anything else you can find.
Send Schedule C plus any of these if you have them: - Proof of advertising your services - Business cards - Website screenshots - Client testimonials - Social media posts about your work - Text messages arranging jobs They're looking for anything that proves you were legitimately self-employed and not just claiming it to get benefits.

I work at a career center and we advise people to document virtual job fairs under Job Search Preparation > Other. Make sure to include the full name of the event, sponsor, date, and list of employers you interacted with. Save all confirmation emails and registration details as proof.
