Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. check if he answered any of the weekly certification questions wrong. one wrong answer can stop everything. especially the question about being ready and available for work - if he said no to that even once, it freezes everything.
I'll have him double check his answers. That would be such a simple explanation!

sounds like he might have an identity verification problem that's holding up his claim. a lot of us had this issue after all the fraud that happened. he needs to specifically ask if he needs to complete ID verification. sometimes they don't tell you unless you directly ask.

The whole NY unemployment system is held together with duct tape and prayers 😠I swear they intentionally make it confusing so people give up
pro tip: try calling your local state representatives office! Sometimes they can help push your claim through faster. Worked for me last year when I was stuck in waiting week hell for over a month.

Yep! Just explained the situation and that I'd been trying to reach unemployment for weeks. They took my info and had someone from unemployment call me back within 3 days!

It's not a scam if that's what you're asking. They just have a system that calls unemployment constantly until they get through, then they call you and connect you with the agent. You still talk directly to unemployment to fix your issue.

I remember when unemployment had actual offices you could walk into and talk to a human being. Now everything is online and you can never reach anyone. I been through 3 recessions now and this system is the absolute worst it's ever been.

Quick question - has anyone here had any luck getting unemployment to count your gig work earnings from before you were laid off from a regular job? I was doing both and they only counted my W-2 work when calculating my benefit amount.
