Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. The NY unemployment system is still broken AF from the pandemic overload. Never seen such a mess. I got 5 different contradicting letters in a 2 week period last time I applied.

just had almost this exact situation. do the idme verification and then CALL THEM. you probly need to talk to a tier 2 specialist. the idme is required regardless of approval status

u should look into if ur identity might have been stolen. theres been a huge spike in unemployment fraud since covid and sometimes they freeze legit claims when they suspect fraud. happened to me.

Check your credit report for any weird activity. But really you need to talk to someone at NYSDOL to confirm if that's the issue.

I used it last month when I was in OPs situation. It works exactly as advertised - they call and wait on hold, then call you when they reach a person. Got my claim fixed that day after weeks of trying myself.
Used it 2 weeks ago. Got connected to an agent in about an hour. My issue was fixed immediately. Prior to that I had spent probably 20+ hours trying to get through myself with no luck.

Try logging out completely, clearing your browser cache, and logging back in. Sometimes the website gets stuck showing old information. Sounds stupid but this fixed a similar issue for me last month!

Wait do you have a NY.gov ID or are you using your social and pin to log in? The two systems sometimes show different info. Try both ways if possible.
I'm using the NY.gov ID. Didn't know there were two different ways to log in! I'll try the other method tomorrow.

I remember when unemployment had actual offices you could walk into and talk to a human being. Now everything is online and you can never reach anyone. I been through 3 recessions now and this system is the absolute worst it's ever been.

Quick question - has anyone here had any luck getting unemployment to count your gig work earnings from before you were laid off from a regular job? I was doing both and they only counted my W-2 work when calculating my benefit amount.

if your employer doesnt verify that you werent actually laid off, you might be dealing with this for awhile. make sure you contact ur current/former employer to have them confirm with unemployment that you never lost your job.
