This is seriously the most useful post I've seen on here in ages. The two device trick worked for me after 2 weeks of frustration!!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 🙏
My account got locked 2 months ago and I still can't get in no matter what I do. Tried calling hundreds of times and always get disconnected. Tried emailing and never get a response. How did you actually get this resolved, OP?
I had to call every single day for two weeks straight. Best time is right when they open. I also submitted my documents through ID.me AND through their secure upload portal. The key was finally getting through to a tier 2 specialist who could see all my documents were already verified.
Try claimyr.com - they'll get you through to an agent who can actually help. Worked for me after weeks of nothing.
The solution: MOVE TO ANOTHER STATE 💯 NY unemployment system is the absolute WORST. When I lived in NJ their system was 10x better.
I went through this EXACT thing back in November. What worked for me was using Claimyr to get through to an agent (claimyr.com) and then specifically requesting to speak with a supervisor. The regular agents just read from scripts and can't actually help with complex issues. The supervisor was able to see exactly why my payments were held and fixed it on the spot. Got my 6 weeks of backpay like 3 days later.
anyone notice that ny unemployment is super quick to start taking money out of your account when they think they overpaid, but when THEY owe YOU money suddenly everything moves at glacial speed? 🤡
I filed an amended return for the EXACT same reason in April. My ctc payments kept coming fine BUT my amendment is still "processing" according to the where's my amended return tool. It's been like 18 weeks now 🙄
One thing to keep in mind - the IRS and unemployment systems don't talk to each other very well. I amended my unemployment income and kept getting the CTC as normal, but when I filed the next year's taxes, it was a mess sorting it all out. Document everything!

Here's a trick that worked for me: if you keep getting an error online, try using a completely different device or browser. The NY unemployment site is weird with certain browsers. I couldn't file on Chrome but it worked on my phone.

Sadly this is happening to thousands of people. The system wasn't designed for all the claims it's handling. I volunteered at a benefits help center last year and this was one of the most common issues. KEEP CERTIFYING no matter what and document everything. Write down all error messages, take screenshots, note dates/times of calls.

•Thanks for the advice. It's crazy how many people are dealing with this. I'll definitely keep records of everything.
