Ugh this EXACT thing happened to me last month. Key2Benefits is the WORST. I ended up having to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau before anyone would help me. You can do it online here: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/
How long did the CFPB process take? I need this money asap...
i FINALLY got thru to someone by using claimyr.com. it's a service that calls and waits on hold for u, then connects you when a human answers. talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast, and i was in the exact same situation.
the difference is it actually works lol. they just call and wait on hold so you don't have to. when they get someone they connect you. super simple and saved me hours of hold music.
I tried calling for 3 days straight and kept getting disconnected. Used Claimyr and got through same day. Was literally the only way I could talk to a human at Key2Benefits.
whatevr u do, dont give up!!! i almost did and then finally got thru and they paid me 8000 backdated!!
Contact your state representative or assemblyperson! I was stuck in limbo for months, emailed my state senator's office, and they helped push my claim through within a week. They have special contacts at unemployment.
👆 This actually works. They have special phone numbers they can call to check on claims.
Did anyone notice they updated the phone system recently? Now it disconnects you if the wait is too long instead of keeping you on hold forever... somehow that's even worse?
OMG YES! Happened to me 3 times last week. So infuriating!!
Their phone system gives me nightmares fr. I can still hear that hold music in my sleep ðŸ˜
ID.me is straight TRASH. After my 5th failed attempt I raged so hard 😤 The phone verification actually works though! They ask questions about your credit history that a scammer wouldn't know. Much better system. But getting someone on the phone... good luck with that nightmare lol. I finally used claimyr.com after trying for days to call myself.
Yes! I successfully did phone verification after ID.me kept glitching out. They ask security questions based on your credit report - old addresses, loan amounts, previous employers. Way easier than the ID.me nightmare. The hard part is just getting someone on the phone. I had success by calling right when they open at 8am and specifically asking for the identity verification department due to "multiple ID.me failures." Don't let them transfer you to the general queue! Be persistent about needing the specialized identity verification team.
How long did the actual verification take once you got the right person on the phone?
About 15 minutes for the questions, then they told me it would take 3-5 business days to process. My payments actually started 2 days later.

Have you tried reaching out on Twitter? Sometimes publicly calling them out gets attention. Tag @NYSLabor in a tweet describing your situation.

•Haven't tried social media yet, that's a good idea. Going to tweet at them right now.

So frustrating! What fixed my issue was connecting with a live agent through claimyr.com after weeks of trying on my own. They call and wait on hold for you, then connect you when they get a human. It was the only thing that helped me finally get my account unlocked.

•I get the skepticism, I was the same way. But after 6 weeks of no benefits I was willing to try anything. And it actually worked - talking to an agent solved my issue in one call.

•So I was about to throw my phone after 3 hours on hold when my friend told me about this. Got a live person in about 90 minutes. Totally worth it.
