NY unemployment ID.me verification hack - using two devices fixed it for me!
Been struggling with the ID.me verification for my ny unemployment for weeks and finally figured something out. If ur stuck in that nightmare, try using 2 different devices! I used my desktop to go through the main process and then my phone for taking pictures of my drivers license and doing the facial recognition part. Made a HUGE difference. The system kept timing out when I tried to do everything on just my laptop. Some tips that helped me finally get through: put your license or passport on a dark background (I used a navy blue towel) when taking pics. For the facial recognition, make sure you're in a really bright room and turn your phone brightness all the way up. I was getting rejected for like 3 weeks until I figured this out. Hope this helps someone else!

Thanks for posting this! I've been stuck in that stupid ID.me loop for 9 days now. My benefits are on hold and I'm freaking out. Gonna try the two device thing tomorrow.

•Good luck! It's frustrating but keep trying. The lighting thing is super important for the face scan part.

•Did ur benefits get released right away after u verified? I'm so nervous about how long I'll have to wait after I get through.

•Took about 3 business days for the money to hit my account after verification went through. Hang in there!

After weeks of no luck with ID.me, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me a callback with a real agent who manually verified my identity. Talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast - worth checking out if you're still stuck after trying the two-device method. Here's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•is this for real? I've been trying to get thru to ny unemployment for MONTHS. how does this work exactly?

•100% worked for me. They basically call on your behalf and stay on hold, then when a real person answers they connect the call to your phone. Saved me from having to sit through those endless hold times.

•sounds sketchy af. another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄

•No catch - it just works. I was desperate after trying to verify my identity for weeks. The agent I spoke to fixed everything in like 10 minutes. Check the video link if you're curious how it works.

•wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just another unemployment 'hack' that never delivers?

•It worked for me! I was honestly shocked because I had tried EVERYTHING else. The unemployment agent I talked to was super helpful once I actually got through to them.

ID.me is the ABSOLUTE WORST. I had to try like 47 times before it finally worked. And then they make you do a video call with someone if the auto-verification doesn't work. The whole thing is a dumpster fire 🔥

Man I feel this so hard. When I finally got ID.me to work, I did a little dance in my living room lmao. That two device trick is legit - I read about it in another forum and it worked for me too. Also helped to use chrome instead of safari for some reason?

•Chrome seems to work better with all their unemployment systems for some reason. Safari kept glitching out on me too.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with ID.me for NY unemployment (and finally succeeding): First, the two-device method OP mentioned is CRITICAL. Use a computer for the main process and phone for pictures/scanning. Second, lighting matters so much. Natural daylight is best for face verification, and make sure there are no shadows on your ID documents. Third, if you're still getting rejected, request the video verification option. Yes, it means waiting in another queue, but the success rate is much higher. Fourth, clear your browser cache before starting. ID.me sometimes gets confused by old session data. Fifth, if all else fails, you NEED to talk to a real human at unemployment. This is where claimyr.com was a game-changer for me. They got me through to an actual agent who could override the verification issues in their system. The whole process is frustrating, but don't give up - your benefits are waiting on the other side of this technical nightmare!

•Wait does the video verification take long? I've been avoiding that option cuz I thought it would be a huge wait

•It can take anywhere from 30 min to 4 hours depending on time of day. Early morning (like 7-8am) seems to have shorter wait times.

•How long after verification did ur claim start procesing again?

Isabella Silva
•My claim was released within 72 hours after successful ID.me verification. But I've heard it varies.

•What exactly is claimyr? Never heard of it before

•It's a service that calls unemployment for you and stays on hold, then connects you when a human answers. Saved me hours of hold time. Their site is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

I lost 6 weeks of payments because of ID.me issues. SIX WEEKS!! The system is designed to make you give up. Don't let them win.

•Finally did, but had to borrow $ from family to cover rent while waiting. The whole system is broken.

WHY DOES NY UNEMPLOYMENT MAKE EVERYTHING SO FRICKIN DIFFICULT???? 😤 It's almost like they don't want us to get the benefits we're entitled to.

Pro tip: If u call the ID.me support line directly at 866-377-8637 they can sometimes help reset ur verification if it's stuck. Worked for me.

•OMG thank you for this! Do they answer quickly or is it another endless hold situation?

•It's hit or miss. I waited about 40 minutes but the person I talked to was actually helpful.

I think the ny unemployment system is deliberately making ID.me difficult so they don't have to pay out as many claims. Change my mind.

After fighting with ID.me for weeks, I broke down and used claimyr.com to reach an actual person at unemployment. They fixed my verification issues in ONE CALL. Should've done it sooner instead of wasting all that time.

•This isn't a hack tho - they literally just call and wait on hold for you. Then when an actual agent picks up, you get connected. Saved me from listening to that awful hold music for hours.

Anyone know if a photo of your license on a phone screen works for the ID.me verification? My printer is broken and I lost my physical license 😩

StarStrider
•No that won't work - they need the actual physical card photographed. Try going to the DMV for a temporary license maybe?

•Try claimyr.com - they got me through to an agent after I had the same problem. Agent fixed it in minutes once I actually reached someone.

Protip for anyone struggling with the facial recognition part: remove glasses, hats, etc and make sure the lighting is hitting your face evenly from the front, not from above or the side.

•This! The lighting is so important. I kept failing until I moved to sit facing a window.
