DETR Unpinned Amount: 6-8 Weeks Turned into Months of Waiting. Anyone Else?

Hey everyone, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with waiting for past owed unemployment money? I was told it would be mailed in 6-8 weeks, but it's been longer than that and I still haven't received anything. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long did you end up waiting?

I found a way to solve unemployment payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHnOkDw6q0E

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been waiting for my unpinned amount for like 3 months now. It's ridiculous how long this process takes. Every time I call, they just tell me to keep waiting. It's so frustrating!

0 coins

3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

0 coins

No, I haven't thought of that. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give it a shot. At this point, I'm willing to try anything 😩

0 coins

Contacting your rep is hit or miss tbh. I tried and got a generic response. But hey, worth a shot I guess 🤷‍♂️

I waited about 10 weeks for mine. It's definitely longer than they say, but it did eventually come through. Just hang in there!

The unemployment system is a joke. They expect us to survive on nothing while they take their sweet time. I've been waiting 4 months and still nothing. How are we supposed to pay bills?!

0 coins

Preach! 👏 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's like they forget we're real people with real bills.

Have you tried reaching out to local charities or food banks? They might be able to help while you wait for the money to come through.

Hey guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/joPqgg0bRFw

0 coins

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

0 coins

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

0 coins

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate. The $20 was worth it to finally get some answers.

0 coins

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

0 coins

Yeah, basically they have a system that navigates the phone menu and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. Saved me hours of frustration.

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research about getting your unpinned unemployment amount: 1. The 6-8 week timeframe is often optimistic. Many people wait 10-12 weeks or even longer. 2. If you haven't received it after 8 weeks, start calling regularly. Be persistent. 3. Document everything. Keep a log of when you call, who you speak to, and what they tell you. 4. Check your online account frequently for updates or messages. 5. If you're facing financial hardship, mention this when you call. Some states have processes to expedite payments in dire situations. 6. Consider reaching out to your local state representative or senator's office. They often have liaisons who can inquire on your behalf. 7. Join local Facebook groups or forums dedicated to unemployment issues in your state. Sometimes you can get insider tips or at least moral support. 8. If all else fails, consider filing a complaint with your state's labor department or unemployment office. Remember, the system is overwhelmed, but stay persistent. Good luck to everyone waiting!

This is super helpful, thanks for taking the time to write it all out!

Great advice. I'd add: don't forget to check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there.

Has anyone else noticed that the wait times seem to be getting longer? When I first applied last year, it only took about 4 weeks. Now I'm hearing horror stories of 6+ months!

0 coins

Yeah, it's definitely gotten worse. I think they're just swamped with claims from the pandemic still.

0 coins

It varies by state too. Some states are handling it better than others.

Pro tip: if you can, try calling right when they open in the morning. I got through much faster that way!

Anyone else feel like theyre playing the lottery with these unpinned amounts? like, will I get my money this week? next month? never? 🎰🤡

0 coins

LOL for real tho. It's like unemployment roulette 😂

I'm starting to think these "unpinned amounts" are just a myth. Like bigfoot or politicians who actually care about us 🙄

I'm in the same boat as many of you - was told 6-8 weeks back in July and I'm still waiting. It's now been over 12 weeks and counting. What's really frustrating is that every time I call, I get a different story. One person tells me it's "processing," another says there's a "hold" on my account, and the last person I spoke to couldn't even find any record of my unpinned amount request. The lack of consistency is maddening! I've started keeping a detailed log like @Lucy Lam suggested, and I'm seriously considering reaching out to my state rep. This whole system feels like it's held together with duct tape and prayers. Hang in there everyone - we shouldn't have to fight this hard just to get what we're owed! 😤

12 weeks is absolutely unacceptable! I'm dealing with something similar - was told my unpinned amount would be processed "within 6-8 weeks" back in August, and here we are in October with radio silence. The inconsistent information is the worst part - how can they not have a unified system to track these requests? I've also started documenting everything after reading @Lucy Lam s'advice. It s'ridiculous that we have to become our own case managers just to get basic information about our own money. Stay strong and keep pushing - you re'definitely not alone in this nightmare! 💪

I've been waiting for my unpinned amount since early September - so about 6 weeks now. Reading all these stories is both comforting (knowing I'm not alone) and terrifying (realizing I might be waiting months more). What really gets me is how they give you that 6-8 week timeframe like it's gospel, but then it seems like hardly anyone actually gets their money in that window. I'm going to start calling more regularly and definitely going to try that early morning tip @Alice Fleming mentioned. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences - this thread is more helpful than anything I've gotten from DETR directly! 🤦‍♀️

6 weeks and counting here too! You're absolutely right about that 6-8 week timeframe being misleading - it seems like they just throw that number out there to keep us quiet. I'm definitely going to try calling first thing in the morning too. It's so frustrating that we have to strategize just to get basic customer service! At least we have this community to support each other through this mess. Keep us posted on how the early morning calls work out for you! 🤞

I'm right there with you all - been waiting since mid-August for my unpinned amount, so we're talking about 10+ weeks now. The most frustrating part is how they act like 6-8 weeks is some kind of guarantee when clearly it's just a wild guess. I've called probably 15 times and gotten 15 different explanations for the delay. Last week someone told me there was a "system glitch" affecting unpinned amounts from my time period, but who knows if that's even true? I'm definitely going to try @Lucy Lam's suggestion about contacting my state rep - at this point I'm willing to try anything. It's insane that we're all here sharing tips like we're part of some underground resistance movement just to get our own money! Stay strong everyone 💪

10+ weeks is absolutely ridiculous! I'm a newcomer to this whole unpinned amount nightmare, but reading everyone's experiences is both eye-opening and terrifying. I just submitted my request last week and was given the standard "6-8 weeks" line, but now I'm realizing I should probably prepare for a much longer wait. The fact that you've gotten 15 different explanations from 15 different calls really shows how broken this system is. Thanks for mentioning the "system glitch" - at least that gives some context for why things are taking so long, even if we can't trust that it's the real reason. I'm bookmarking all the advice from @Lucy Lam and others in this thread because it sounds like I m'going to need it! Solidarity in this bureaucratic mess! 😤

Just wanted to jump in and share my experience as someone who's been through this whole unpinned amount ordeal. I waited 14 weeks for mine - submitted in June and finally got it in September. The 6-8 week timeline they give you is complete BS, honestly. What finally worked for me was a combination of calling every single day at 8am sharp when they opened, documenting every conversation, and eventually filing a complaint through my state senator's office. The senator's office actually got me a response within 3 days, which is wild considering I'd been waiting months. For anyone still waiting, don't give up! Keep calling, keep documenting, and don't be afraid to escalate to your representatives. This system is broken but your money is still there waiting for you. Hang in there! 💪

14 weeks?! That's both encouraging and terrifying at the same time 😅 I'm so glad you finally got your money though! Your point about the senator's office getting a response in 3 days vs months of waiting is just mind-blowing - it really shows how broken the regular system is. I'm definitely going to reach out to my representative this week. Thanks for sharing your success story and giving the rest of us hope that there's light at the end of this ridiculously long tunnel!

I'm a newcomer to this community and this whole unpinned amount situation, but wow - reading through everyone's experiences is both helpful and absolutely infuriating! I just got the dreaded "unpinned amount" notice last week and was told the usual 6-8 weeks, but clearly that's just them buying time. Thank you all for sharing your real timelines and strategies - especially @Lucy Lam for that comprehensive list and @Fatima Al-Qasimi for proving there's hope at the end of this tunnel! I'm already starting to document everything and will definitely try the early morning calling strategy. It's ridiculous that we need a whole support group just to get our own money, but I'm grateful this community exists. Going to bookmark this thread as my survival guide! 🙏

Welcome to the club nobody wants to be in! 😅 You're smart to start documenting everything right away - I wish I had done that from day one. This thread has been a lifesaver for me too. The fact that we all have to become amateur investigators just to track down our own money is absolutely wild. Definitely try that early morning calling tip and don't be discouraged if you get different stories from different reps - seems to be par for the course with DETR. We're all in this together! 💪

New member here, and honestly I'm both grateful and terrified after reading everyone's experiences! I just got hit with an unpinned amount situation last week - they told me the standard 6-8 weeks line, but clearly that's just wishful thinking based on what I'm seeing here. Already started a spreadsheet to track everything thanks to @Lucy Lam's advice, and I'm mentally preparing for a much longer haul. The fact that @Fatima Al-Qasimi had success with contacting her senator's office gives me hope though! It's absolutely insane that we need to become full-time advocates just to get our own money, but at least we have each other for support and real advice. Going to start with those early morning calls and see how it goes. Thanks everyone for being so transparent about your timelines - this community is already more helpful than anything DETR has provided! 🤝
