MA DUA: Missing week's payment after filing unemployment claim - timeline confusion

I filed for unemployment and had to wait till the end of April to submit my claim. The website says I can submit my next claim in May 2024, so I'm missing a weeks payment. I haven't received any updates through email or mail on the status. My last day of work was in mid-April and I filed a few days later. Shouldn't I receive a check for the last week of April? I'm confused about the timeline and worried about missing payments. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get answers from unemployment?

I found a way to solve missing unemployment payments issue, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qkDI4kDPBs

The unemployment office is playing 4D chess while we're all stuck in checkers 😤 It's a joke how hard they make it to get what we're owed.

0 coins

More like they're playing Candy Crush while we're trying to survive 🙃

0 coins

Fr fr. They probably use internet explorer and fax machines still 💀

0 coins

Haha, seriously though, it's like they're stuck in a different era!

ATTENTION EVERYONE: If you're having trouble, contact your local state representative! I did this and suddenly my claim started moving. They have special liaisons with the unemployment office. Don't sleep on this option!

0 coins

Wow, I never thought of this. How do I find out who my representative is?

0 coins

Just google "[your state] find my representative". Most have websites where you can send a message explaining your situation. Good luck!

0 coins

This actually worked for me too! My rep's office got back to me within a week.

0 coins

PSA: DOCUMENT 👏 EVERYTHING 👏 Save emails, screenshot website errors, write down names of reps you talk to. You never know when you'll need this info!

0 coins

Good call. I'm gonna start a unemployment journal. Maybe I'll publish it someday lol

0 coins

This! I had to appeal my claim and all my documentation saved my butt. Don't be lazy about this!

0 coins

Documentation is a lifesaver in these situations. Always better to be over-prepared.

0 coins

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a record of all your claim submissions, dates, and any communication you've had. 2. Try to contact them through multiple channels. Phone, email, and even social media if they have accounts. 3. Be persistent. The system is overwhelmed, so you might need to try multiple times. 4. Check your state's unemployment website for any updates or changes to the process due to high volume. 5. Consider reaching out to your local representative. They sometimes can help push things along. 6. Join unemployment support groups on social media. They often have good tips and can keep you updated on any systemic issues. Remember, the first week after you file is often a "waiting week" where you don't get paid. But it sounds like you might be missing more than that. Don't give up!

0 coins

Thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely start documenting everything. Do you know how long it usually takes to hear back after filing?

0 coins

It really varies, especially now with all the backlogs. Some people hear back in a week, others it can take a month or more. Keep checking your online account daily for updates.

0 coins

Great advice! I also found that joining online forums helped because people share updates and experiences.

0 coins

pro tip: if u want to actually talk to a human, call right when they open. set an alarm and everything. sometimes u can get thru b4 the lines get jammed

0 coins

This! I got through after trying this method. Took me 3 days of trying but finally worked.

0 coins

what time do they open? asking for a friend (the friend is me, im the friend

0 coins

Usually, they open around 8am, but make sure to check your local office hours just in case!

0 coins

Guys I've been on unemployment for 3 months now and here's what I've learned: 1. The system is BROKEN 2. You gotta be a squeaky wheel to get the grease 3. Don't expect logic or efficiency 4. Always triple check your submissions 5. Prepare for random delays and glitches Stay strong, OP. We're all in this leaky boat together. 🚣‍♂️

0 coins

Thanks for the tips! How often do you usually have to follow up with them?

0 coins

I check in at least once a week, even if it's just logging into my account. Better to be annoying than to miss something important!

0 coins

Agreed, staying on top of things is key. I usually jot down notes after each interaction too.

0 coins

Plot twist: the unemployment office is actually a front for a secret government time travel experiment. That's why everything takes forever and nothing makes sense. 🕰️👽

0 coins

Lmao I needed this laugh 😂 But honestly? Wouldn't even be surprised at this point

0 coins

OMG this explains everything! 🤯 Quick, someone call Mulder and Scully!

0 coins

Imagine if it were true, we'd have the best excuse for everything!

0 coins

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I know it's old school but I heard it might work faster than online submissions.

0 coins

What's a fax? Is that like a really old email? 👴

0 coins

I tried this! It actually worked for me. Had to go to the library to use their fax machine tho

0 coins

Update: I faxed my docs and got a response in 3 days! Maybe the unemployment office is stuck in 1995 🤷‍♂️

0 coins

Faxing seems weirdly effective, almost like a secret hack!

LPT: Start a side hustle while you wait for unemployment to get their act together. I've been doing online surveys and it's not much, but it's honest work 👨‍🌾

0 coins

Be careful with this! Make sure you report any income or it could mess up your unemployment benefits

0 coins

Any survey sites you recommend? I'm so bored waiting for callbacks might as well make a few bucks

0 coins

Pinecone Research and Swagbucks have been good for me. Just keep an eye on your earnings!

Day 127 of unemployment: I've named all the buttons on the unemployment office phone menu. Brad hasn't transferred me to a real person in weeks. I think he's ghosting me. 📞💔

0 coins

I'm wheezing 🤣 Brad did you dirty

0 coins

Forget Brad, you deserve better. Have you tried flirting with the "speak to a representative" option? 😉

0 coins

Brad better stop ghosting before he becomes a meme!

0 coins

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/ok4BhTU0_EI

0 coins

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

0 coins

Totally get the skepticism, but it's legit. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it for me, but yeah, it sucks we have to pay extra just to get help we're entitled to.

0 coins

How long did it take to get through using this?

0 coins

Once I used Claimyr, it took about 30 minutes to get connected to an agent. So much better than waiting for hours!

0 coins

Navigating the unemployment system can indeed be frustrating and overwhelming. From what you've described, it seems like you may be caught in a common bureaucratic delay, especially considering the backlog many states are experiencing. In the meantime, you might try using services like Claimyr, which although require a fee, they can potentially save you time by connecting you quicker to an agent, allowing you to resolve issues like missing payments faster. However, it's essential to weigh the pros and cons, as not everyone may want to incur this additional cost. Additionally, regularly checking your online unemployment accounts, keeping meticulous records, and even reaching out to your local representative can sometimes help expedite the process. Remember, persistence is key, and unfortunately, patience will be your steadfast ally throughout this ordeal.

0 coins

Has anyone else noticed that the website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they know... 👀

0 coins

YES! I swear they do it on purpose. It's always down on sundays when I try to certify 😡

0 coins

Pro tip: try using it at weird hours like 3am. Sometimes it works better then

0 coins

3am seems to be the magic hour. Never had a problem when I log in then.

0 coins

Guys I finally got through to a real person and you know what they told me? "I don't know, try calling back later." I can't even 🤦‍♂️

0 coins

Classic. Did you try asking to speak to a supervisor?

0 coins

Yep, they said the supervisor was "in a meeting". Sure, Jan 🙄

0 coins

Keep pushing. Sometimes asking for someone else helps.

0 coins

have u checked ur spam folder? sometimes their emails end up there. learned that the hard way after waiting for weeks 🤦‍♂️

0 coins

I found a couple there! Thanks for the reminder.

0 coins

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should be grateful unemployment exists at all? I know it's frustrating but at least we have some kind of safety net...

0 coins

Bootlicker alert! 🚨 Just because it exists doesn't mean it's working properly

0 coins

I get what you're saying, but we pay into this system. We deserve better than this mess.

0 coins

Fair points, guys. I'm just trying to find a silver lining in this storm cloud ☁️

0 coins

I think we all agree it needs reform. It's like having a safety net with holes.

0 coins

Hot take: The unemployment system is DESIGNED to be confusing and difficult. They're hoping people will just give up and stop claiming. Stay persistent!

0 coins

100% this. It's all about gatekeeping. Don't let them win!

0 coins

Idk seems a bit conspiracy theory-ish to me. Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence, ya know?

0 coins

Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. Either way, it's frustrating.

0 coins

Friendly reminder to take care of your mental health during this process! Unemployment stress is real. Don't be afraid to reach out for help if you need it 💖

0 coins

This! I started meditating and it's helped so much with the anxiety of waiting

0 coins

Any good resources for free/low cost mental health support? Asking for a friend (it's me, I'm the friend

0 coins

Check out local community centers or online support groups. They often have free resources.

0 coins

Ugh, I feel ya. The unemployment system is a total mess rn. I've been waiting for weeks with no updates. It's like they're playing hide and seek with our money 🙄

0 coins

ikr? its like they WANT us to go crazy. i swear the whole system is designed to make us give up

0 coins

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers

0 coins

Calling? LOL good luck with that. I've spent more time on hold than I did at my last job 😂

0 coins

I tried calling first thing in the morning, like right when they opened, and I actually got through pretty quickly. Maybe give it a shot?

0 coins

Welcome to unemployment hell, buddy. Buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. 🎢

0 coins

guys i think i broke the system?? i certified for benefits and now it says i owe them $9999999. anyone else get this glitch or am i going to unemployment jail? 😰

0 coins

omg that happened to me too! I almost had a heart attack. It fixed itself after a few days tho

0 coins

Unemployment jail 💀💀💀 I'm dead. But for real, call them ASAP about this!

0 coins

update: crisis averted! it was just a glitch. still gonna have nightmares about unemployment jail tho 😅

0 coins

Always good to check your account for weird errors. Glad it worked out!
