MA DUA: Missing week's payment after filing unemployment claim - timeline confusion
I filed for unemployment and had to wait till the end of April to submit my claim. The website says I can submit my next claim in May 2024, so I'm missing a weeks payment. I haven't received any updates through email or mail on the status. My last day of work was in mid-April and I filed a few days later. Shouldn't I receive a check for the last week of April? I'm confused about the timeline and worried about missing payments. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get answers from unemployment?

The unemployment office is playing 4D chess while we're all stuck in checkers 😤 It's a joke how hard they make it to get what we're owed.

ATTENTION EVERYONE: If you're having trouble, contact your local state representative! I did this and suddenly my claim started moving. They have special liaisons with the unemployment office. Don't sleep on this option!

•Wow, I never thought of this. How do I find out who my representative is?

Adrian Connor
•Just google "[your state] find my representative". Most have websites where you can send a message explaining your situation. Good luck!

•This actually worked for me too! My rep's office got back to me within a week.

PSA: DOCUMENT 👏 EVERYTHING 👏 Save emails, screenshot website errors, write down names of reps you talk to. You never know when you'll need this info!

•Documentation is a lifesaver in these situations. Always better to be over-prepared.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a record of all your claim submissions, dates, and any communication you've had. 2. Try to contact them through multiple channels. Phone, email, and even social media if they have accounts. 3. Be persistent. The system is overwhelmed, so you might need to try multiple times. 4. Check your state's unemployment website for any updates or changes to the process due to high volume. 5. Consider reaching out to your local representative. They sometimes can help push things along. 6. Join unemployment support groups on social media. They often have good tips and can keep you updated on any systemic issues. Remember, the first week after you file is often a "waiting week" where you don't get paid. But it sounds like you might be missing more than that. Don't give up!

•Thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely start documenting everything. Do you know how long it usually takes to hear back after filing?

Kristian Bishop
•It really varies, especially now with all the backlogs. Some people hear back in a week, others it can take a month or more. Keep checking your online account daily for updates.

Guys I've been on unemployment for 3 months now and here's what I've learned: 1. The system is BROKEN 2. You gotta be a squeaky wheel to get the grease 3. Don't expect logic or efficiency 4. Always triple check your submissions 5. Prepare for random delays and glitches Stay strong, OP. We're all in this leaky boat together. 🚣♂️

•I check in at least once a week, even if it's just logging into my account. Better to be annoying than to miss something important!

Plot twist: the unemployment office is actually a front for a secret government time travel experiment. That's why everything takes forever and nothing makes sense. 🕰️👽

Day 127 of unemployment: I've named all the buttons on the unemployment office phone menu. Brad hasn't transferred me to a real person in weeks. I think he's ghosting me. 📞💔

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/ok4BhTU0_EI

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•Totally get the skepticism, but it's legit. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it for me, but yeah, it sucks we have to pay extra just to get help we're entitled to.

•Once I used Claimyr, it took about 30 minutes to get connected to an agent. So much better than waiting for hours!

Navigating the unemployment system can indeed be frustrating and overwhelming. From what you've described, it seems like you may be caught in a common bureaucratic delay, especially considering the backlog many states are experiencing. In the meantime, you might try using services like Claimyr, which although require a fee, they can potentially save you time by connecting you quicker to an agent, allowing you to resolve issues like missing payments faster. However, it's essential to weigh the pros and cons, as not everyone may want to incur this additional cost. Additionally, regularly checking your online unemployment accounts, keeping meticulous records, and even reaching out to your local representative can sometimes help expedite the process. Remember, persistence is key, and unfortunately, patience will be your steadfast ally throughout this ordeal.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should be grateful unemployment exists at all? I know it's frustrating but at least we have some kind of safety net...
