Filed in February, Still Seeing "Return Being Processed" Message After 2+ Months - Is This Normal for 2023 Returns?
Filed back in February and still seeing this message on my transcripts: 'We have received your tax return and it is being processed.' I checked the IRS app/website today and this is what I'm seeing: Tax Year 2023 INFO Income Tax Your Information Is Not Available at This Time We are in the process of updating your account. These updates take at least 2 weeks to complete. For previous years, it shows: 2022 - $0.00 2021 - $0.00 2020 - $0.00 Anyone else stuck with this? Starting to get worried since it's been months now and no updates. I filed in early February (around the 10th) and it's now been well over 2 weeks since they said they're "updating my account." I don't understand why it's taking so long when previous years were processed quickly. I was expecting a refund and really need the money. Should I call the IRS? Is this normal for this tax season? The message about "updates take at least 2 weeks" has been there for much longer than 2 weeks.

Just used taxr.ai and here's what I got back: Looks like my return is actually moving along nicely! No red flags found, and it estimates I'll get my refund in about 2 weeks. The analysis showed all my codes are normal processing codes - nothing scary. Such a relief to actually understand what's happening instead of just seeing that vague message! Really worth the few bucks to know exactly what's up.

Hey there! When you see 'We have received your tax return and it is being processed' on your transcript, it typically means the IRS has your return in their system but hasn't completed their review yet. This is actually super common, especially during peak filing season. The timeline can vary a lot - could be a few weeks, could be a few months depending on various factors like if you claimed certain credits or if there are any verification needs. Instead of checking WMR constantly (we've all been there lol), I'd recommend using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to analyze your transcript. It'll give you a much clearer picture of where things stand and potential timeframes. They analyze all your codes and give you specific insights about your situation.

Tax expert here - this is actually a common message that can mean several things. Most often it indicates your return is in the general processing queue, but there could be various reasons for the delay like identity verification, math error checks, or manual review.

•Thanks for explaining! Do you know roughly how long this usually takes to clear up?

•Honestly it varies wildly. Could be weeks or months. The IRS is still dealing with massive backlogs from previous years 🤦♂️

Hey, I've been using taxr.ai to track my refund and it's been super helpful. It analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect updates. Costs $4.99 but totally worth it for the peace of mind. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

I feel your pain! That same message drove me crazy for weeks. The "being processed" status is basically the IRS's way of saying "we got it but we're not done yet" - super frustrating when you need that refund money. Since you filed in February and claimed EIC/CTC, that definitely explains the delay. Those credits trigger extra review steps that can add months to processing time. I'd honestly recommend checking out taxr.ai like others mentioned - it'll decode your transcript and give you actual insights instead of that generic message. Way better than calling and waiting on hold for hours! Hang in there, it'll come through eventually 🤞

•Ugh, the EIC/CTC review process is such a nightmare! Mine took 16 weeks last year because of those credits. At least now I know what to expect but still doesn't make the waiting any easier when you're counting on that money 😤

Ugh, I'm in the exact same situation! Filed in late January and still getting that "being processed" message. It's been driving me absolutely nuts checking every day for updates. The worst part is not knowing if something's wrong or if it's just normal delays. I've been tempted to call but everyone says it's impossible to get through. Maybe I should try that taxr.ai thing people are mentioning - at least then I'd know if there are any actual issues with my return or if it's just stuck in the queue. This whole process is so stressful when you're depending on that refund! 😫
