Filed in April and was accepted but still nothing - confused about transcript code 570

So I filed my return on April 8th and got the acceptance notification pretty much right away. It's now July and I still haven't received my refund. When I check Where's My Refund it just says it's still processing. I finally figured out how to access my transcript online yesterday and there's a code 570 with a date of 06-10-2025 that says "additional account action pending." Does anyone know what this means? My refund was supposed to be around $3,480 and I was really counting on it. I checked my return multiple times before submitting and everything was correct. No letters from the IRS yet or anything. What should I do?

Code 570 means there's a hold on your account. It could be for a variety of reasons - they might be reviewing your return, verifying credits, or there could be an issue they spotted. The good news is that the date attached to it (06-10-2025) is typically just a processing date and doesn't necessarily mean you have to wait until then. I'd recommend watching for code 571 to appear on your transcript - that means the hold has been released. Also look for code 846 which is the actual refund issued code. Since it's been several months, you might want to call the IRS to find out exactly why there's a hold. They might be waiting for something from you that you never received notification about.

Thanks for the explanation! Do you know the best number to call? I've tried the general number a few times but can never get through to a human.

The main number is frustrating for sure. Try calling early in the morning right when they open (7am eastern time). Or you could use Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it helps you skip the wait and get a callback from an agent. worked for me when I was in a similar situation!

gonna try this claimyr thing. at this point I'd do anything to figure out what's happening with my refund lol

I second the claimyr recommendation! 10/10 worth every penny to finally speak to someone who could tell me what was going on with my account

I was in the same position as you last year - stuck with a 570 code for months. After trying unsuccessfully to figure everything out on my own, I finally used taxr.ai to actually understand what was happening with my return. It analyzed my transcript and explained exactly what each code meant and what I needed to do. The site is way better than trying to be a detective and piece together what's happening by reading random forum posts. Seriously, check out https://taxr.ai - it saved me so much time and stress!

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

0 coins

It does wayyy more than just read it. It analyzes all the codes, dates, and amounts together to tell you what's actually happening with your return. It also gives you personalized steps for what to do next based on your specific situation. Honestly life-changing if you're trying to navigate IRS issues.

Oh wow, I just tried taxr.ai for my own 570 issue and it was AMAZING! It told me exactly why my refund was held up (something about income verification) and what to expect next. Everyone dealing with weird IRS codes should use this tool instead of driving themselves crazy trying to figure it out!

0 coins

does it cost anything? seems too good to be true

0 coins

There is a fee but it's worth every penny considering the amount of time it saves and the clarity it provides. My refund was for thousands, so knowing exactly what was happening and what to do next was priceless.

I had the exact same issue with a 570 code back in May. After weeks of getting nowhere trying to call the IRS regular number, I used the Claimyr app (claimyr.com) and got connected to a live agent who explained everything. Turns out they needed verification for one of my W2s but the letter got lost in the mail! Once I knew what was going on, I was able to send in what they needed and my refund was released two weeks later. Having someone actually tell me what was wrong instead of just seeing cryptic codes was the best money I've ever spent.

Is this for real? Sounds sketchy tbh

0 coins

100% real. I was super skeptical too, but I was desperate after trying for like a month to get through on my own. It just helps you skip the phone tree hell and get a callback from an actual IRS agent. The agent is from the IRS, not from the app - the app just helps you get through to them.

0 coins

how much did it cost tho? 🤔

0 coins

For me it was worth every penny to finally find out what was happening with my $4k refund that had been stuck for months. Definitely beat calling and waiting on hold for hours only to get disconnected!

0 coins

Just wanted to say I used this service too and it works. Got a callback in 15 minutes when I'd been trying for weeks to reach someone.

0 coins

It might be an identity verification issue. Did you try checking your online IRS account to see if there are any notices or letters? Sometimes they send letters but they get lost in the mail. Last year this happened to me and my refund was held for 4 months.

570 sucks, i hate that code 😡 been there done that. Mine was because they thought I claimed a dependent incorrectly. had to wait 14 weeks for them to figure out they were wrong. no apology no nothing. irs is a joke.

0 coins

Same energy! They put a 570 on my return and it took them THREE MONTHS to release it even though I did everything right. Then they had the audacity to not even pay me interest on the delayed amount.

0 coins

the worst part is you cant even reach a human to explain why. its like talking to a brick wall

0 coins

Have you checked for a 971 code on your transcript too? That means they sent you a notice. If you have that code but never got a letter, you should definitely call them because they might be waiting for a response from you.

0 coins

I don't see a 971 code on there, just the 570 with that future date. Is that a good sign or bad sign?

0 coins

It could go either way. No 971 might mean they're just reviewing your return internally and don't need anything from you yet. But after this much time, I'd still recommend calling to check.

0 coins

did u claim EIC or child tax credit? Those automatically get extra scrutiny and can trigger the 570 code. my brother had this last year and it took like 8 weeks to resolve.

0 coins

Yeah I claimed child tax credit for my kid. That's probably it then...ugh why don't they just tell you that's what's happening instead of leaving you in the dark?

0 coins

The IRS is SEVERELY understaffed and behind on processing. My return from LAST YEAR just got processed in March 💀 Sometimes the 570 is just them putting your return in a holding pattern while they catch up. But def call to make sure they don't need anything from you.

I tried calling everyday for weeks with no luck getting through to an agent. Finally decided to try taxr.ai after seeing it mentioned here. It analyzed my transcript and told me exactly why there was a 570 code (they were verifying my self-employment income). The explanation was so clear and it told me exactly how much longer to expect to wait based on my specific situation. Highly recommend https://taxr.ai if you're stuck trying to decode these transcript mysteries!

0 coins

Im gonna try this. been stuck in 570 limbo since March and its driving me crazy not knowing whats happening

0 coins

wait is this an AI thing? can it actually tell you specific things about your return?

0 coins

Yeah it analyzes all the codes and dates on your transcript together and explains exactly what's happening in simple terms. It also gives next steps and estimated timelines based on your specific situation. Way better than trying to google each code separately.

check ur math on the return. 570 sometimes means theres a calculation error and theyre fixing it. could be good news if they find u a bigger refund!

0 coins

After being stuck with a 570 code for almost 2 months, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get connected with an IRS agent. Found out they needed verification for something but the letter went to my old address! Once I knew what was going on, I was able to fix the issue and got my refund within 3 weeks. Talking to an actual person was the only thing that finally moved my refund forward.

0 coins

Did the same thing! After weeks of trying to call and getting nowhere, used Claimyr and had an agent on the phone in 30 minutes. Totally worth it to finally know what was happening.

0 coins

How does it work? Do they call for you or something?

0 coins

Basically it navigates the IRS phone system for you and holds your place in line. Then when an agent is available, it calls you and connects you directly to them. Saved me hours of holding and frustration!

i think 570 also shows up if ur getting more money back than u expected cuz they found an error in ur favor. my friend had this happen and got an extra $600! Keep checking for code 571 (release of hold) and 846 (refund issued).

0 coins

This happened to my sister too! The 570 was because they were adjusting her refund UP.

0 coins

Omg please let this be the case for me too lol

UPDATE: saw this post yesterday and was in the same boat with a 570 code. Used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it showed me exactly what was happening - they were verifying my EIC claim. Even showed the expected timeline for resolution based on current IRS processing times. Finally have peace of mind knowing what's going on!! Would've never figured this out on my own from just looking at the transcript codes.

0 coins

just tried it too! found out my 570 was because of an address mismatch of all things 🤦‍♂️ now i know what to fix

0 coins

Did u file with a tax preparer or software? Sometimes they can contact the IRS on your behalf and get more info.

0 coins

I used TurboTax but I don't think they offer that service unless you paid for the audit defense thing, which I didn't

I'm dealing with a similar situation - filed in March and still waiting on my refund with a 570 code. From what I've learned lurking in this community, that code basically means your return is on hold for review. The frustrating part is they don't tell you WHY it's on hold. Could be anything from routine verification to them double-checking credits you claimed. The date you see (06-10-2025) is usually just a system-generated placeholder, not when you'll actually get your refund. Keep checking your transcript weekly for code 571 (hold released) followed by 846 (refund issued). If you haven't received any letters and it's been this long, definitely try calling or using one of those callback services people mentioned. Hope you get some answers soon!

0 coins

This is really helpful, thank you! I've been checking my transcript obsessively but didn't realize the date was just a placeholder. That makes me feel a bit better. I'm definitely going to try calling this week, and if that doesn't work I might look into one of those callback services people have been mentioning. It's just so frustrating not knowing what they're looking for or how much longer this could take!

I went through the exact same thing last year! Filed in March, got the acceptance right away, then crickets for months with just that dreaded 570 code staring back at me. Turns out they were manually reviewing my return because I had some freelance income that triggered their verification process. The whole thing took about 16 weeks to resolve, but once they released the hold (you'll see code 571), my refund was direct deposited within a week. The worst part is the complete lack of communication - they don't tell you what they're looking for or give you any realistic timeline. Since you filed in April and it's July now, you're definitely past the normal processing window. I'd suggest calling first thing Monday morning right at 7am when they open - that's when you have the best shot at getting through. If you can't get anyone on the phone, those callback services like Claimyr that others mentioned really do work. Sometimes you just need a human to tell you exactly what's happening with your specific return. Hang in there - I know how stressful it is when you're counting on that money!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It's weirdly comforting to know I'm not the only one who's been through this nightmare. 16 weeks sounds absolutely brutal but at least there's light at the end of the tunnel. I had some side income from tutoring that I reported so that could definitely be what's triggering the review. I'm definitely going to try calling Monday morning at 7am sharp - fingers crossed I can actually get through to someone who can give me some real answers instead of just "it's processing." Thanks for the encouragement, I really needed to hear that!

I feel your pain - the 570 code is like being stuck in limbo! I had this exact situation a few months ago and it drove me absolutely crazy not knowing what was going on. The code means there's some kind of hold on your account, but like everyone else has said, they don't tell you WHY which is the most frustrating part. Since you mentioned claiming the child tax credit, that's very likely what triggered the review - they automatically flag returns with certain credits for additional verification. The good news is that this doesn't necessarily mean there's anything wrong with your return, they're just being extra cautious. Given that it's been 3+ months since you filed, I'd definitely recommend trying to get in touch with them. The early morning call strategy (7am Eastern) really does work better, or if you want to avoid the phone tree nightmare, those callback services people have mentioned can be worth it when you're dealing with thousands of dollars. Keep checking your transcript for that 571 code - once you see that, you'll know the hold has been released and your refund should follow shortly after with an 846 code. Hang in there!
