Anyone get a 846 refund code after having 570 freeze code on transcript?
So ive been dealing with this 570 hold code on my transcript for about 4 weeks now. Filed in April, got accepted quickly, but then nothing. The Where's My Refund tool hasnt updated since saying it was processing. I checked my transcript last week and saw the 570 code with a April 29 date. It says "additional account action pending" which doesnt tell me much. Getting really frustrated because I need this money. Has anybody gone from having the 570 code to getting the 846 refund issued code? How long did it take? Im starting to worry they found a problem with my return or something.

Yes, I had the exact same situation. Filed in March, accepted right away, then got stuck with the 570 code for about 5 weeks. My transcript finally updated with an 846 code last week and my refund hit my account 2 days later. The 570 code just means they're reviewing something on your return - it doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem. In my case, they didn't even send me any letters asking for additional information. It just resolved itself. The system is incredibly backed up this year, so patience is unfortunately required. Check your transcript again next week, hopefully you'll see movement.

•Thanks for this, gives me some hope! Did you call them at all or just wait it out?

•I tried calling a few times but never got through. Just waited and checked my transcript weekly. One day it just updated with the 846 code.

•This is EXACTLY what happened to me last year. 570 code for like 6 weeks, no communication, then boom - 846 and money in account. The IRS is a black box sometimes.

I was in the same situation and spent days trying to figure out what was going on with my transcript. Then I found taxr.ai and it completely changed everything. It analyzed my transcript and explained exactly what the 570 code meant in my specific case and gave me a timeline of when to expect my refund. Turns out there was a small discrepancy in my withholding that the IRS was reconciling. The tool literally saved me hours of research and anxiety. I use it for everything tax-related now. https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•It does way more than just read the transcript! It analyzes all the codes, dates, amounts, etc. and then explains everything in simple terms. It even predicted when my refund would arrive and it was spot on. Honestly wish I found it sooner instead of stressing for weeks.

•Just tried taxr.ai and WOW!! This is a game changer. It showed me exactly why my refund was delayed with the 570 code (something about income verification) and gave me an estimated timeline for resolution. The peace of mind alone was worth it. If you're stuck in tax limbo like I was, DO THIS NOW!

After dealing with my 570 code for 6 weeks and getting nowhere, I finally got help from an actual human at the IRS. Used an app called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me past the endless busy signals. Had a real agent call me back within an hour and they explained my 570 code was due to them verifying my W-2 information. They released the hold right on the call and my 846 code showed up 2 days later. Best money I ever spent after wasting days trying to get through on my own.

•Did they actually help you or was it just to get someone on the phone? I've heard mixed things.

•They just help you get through to an actual IRS agent - but that's the hardest part tbh. Once I got an agent on the phone, they were actually really helpful and cleared up my 570 code issue right away. The hold was released and I got my refund a few days later.

•Is this for real? I've been trying to call the IRS for 3 weeks straight with no luck 😤

•100% real. I was skeptical too but was desperate after weeks of busy signals. The service got me a callback from an IRS agent in under an hour. My refund was released 2 days later after months of waiting.

•I felt the same way but was at my wits end. It worked exactly as advertised - they got me past the IRS phone tree and I got a call from an actual agent who fixed my issue. After spending literal days redialing the IRS, it was a huge relief.

I had a 570 code back in March. It eventually moved to an 846 code after about 7 weeks. No letters, no contact from the IRS. I think they're just super backed up this year and the 570 is their way of buying time to process returns. I know it sucks but hang in there.

yep, had the 570 code for about a month. then got a cp12 notice saying they adjusted my refund amount (reduced by $138). two weeks after that my transcript updated with the 846 code and i got the money 3 days later. if u dont get any letters requesting info, it might just be an automatic adjustment they're making.

•I haven't gotten any notices in the mail yet. Should I be expecting something?

•not necessarily. sometimes they just process it without sending anything. check ur mailbox regularly tho. if they need info they'll mail u not email.

The IRS is a complete dumpster fire this year 🔥 Im on week 9 of a 570 code with zero communication. Called 27 times and never got through. Absolutely ridiculous that they can just hold our money hostage with no explanation. I'll never file early again.

•Same boat. I'm on week 8 with 570 code and nothing else. No letters, no updates, just silence. And ofc you can never reach anyone on the phone. Such a broken system.

•If you actually want to get through to them, try calling right when they open at 7am Eastern. That's how I finally got through after weeks of trying.

•I've tried morning, afternoon, different days of the week. Always the same "due to high call volume" BS. I've given up at this point.

The 570 freeze code doesnt always mean something bad! In my case, they were just verifying my stimulus payment amount from last year. Never got any letters or anything from them. After about 5 weeks with the 570 code, it updated to 971 (notice issued) and then 846 (refund issued) a few days later. The system is just slow AF. Keep checking your transcript weekly.

I used to be an IRS tax examiner. The 570 code just means they're verifying something or making an adjustment. It could be as simple as a math error or as complex as income verification. Without getting a specific notice, it's hard to know exactly what's happening. But in most cases, it resolves itself within 4-8 weeks. If you don't see movement after 8 weeks, then I'd suggest trying to contact them.

•Thanks for the insider perspective! Very helpful. Is there any way to know what specifically they're looking at? My return was pretty straightforward.

•Unfortunately no, not without a notice or talking to an agent. Even simple returns get flagged sometimes for random verification. You might get a CP12 notice (adjustment) or nothing at all if they verify and find everything's correct. Just keep an eye on your transcript.

I can totally relate! Had the 570 code for almost 2 months. Was going crazy trying to figure out what was happening. I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript (someone on here recommended it) and it explained exactly why I had the hold. Turns out there was a discrepancy between what I reported for my advance child tax credit and what the IRS had on file. Two weeks later, my 846 code appeared and I got my refund minus a small adjustment. The tool was super helpful in at least understanding what was going on instead of being completely in the dark.

•It's completely legit. I was skeptical too but it actually delivers on what it promises. Saved me so much stress just understanding what was happening with my return. Way better than the vague info on the IRS site.

570 → 571 → 846 was my progression. Took about 6 weeks total. The 571 code means they resolved whatever issue caused the 570 freeze. Look for that code as your next indicator of progress.

Yes! Just got my 846 code this morning after 5 weeks of the dreaded 570. No communication from IRS whatsoever. They reduced my refund by $212 but at this point I don't even care, I just want the money. The tax system is SO broken.

•Transcript updated first. WMR didn't update until a day later. Don't rely on WMR, it's often behind the transcript.

Claimyr got me through to an IRS agent after 6 weeks of getting nowhere with my 570 code. The agent explained they were verifying my education credits and released the hold right on the call. My 846 code appeared 3 days later. So worth it to finally talk to someone who could actually help instead of just waiting and hoping. Found it at claimyr.com

•I won't give the exact amount but honestly it was worth every penny. After wasting hours and hours trying to call myself with no success, getting an IRS agent on the phone who fixed my issue in minutes was priceless. My refund was substantial enough that getting it weeks earlier made it a no-brainer.

I've gone through this cycle multiple years now. Always the same pattern - file, get accepted, then 570 code for weeks, then suddenly 846. The IRS is basically using the 570 code as a "we're too busy to look at this right now" code. Unless you get a letter asking for more info, just wait it out. Mine always resolves eventually.

For me it went: 570 code > CP12 notice in mail > 971 code (notice issued) > 846 code two weeks later. Total time from 570 to 846 was about 7 weeks. The CP12 just said they adjusted my refund amount by $43 due to a calculation error. Never had to provide any additional info or call them.

•Hang in there! The system is incredibly slow but most 570 codes do eventually resolve to 846. It's when they send you a letter asking for documentation that things get really delayed.

If your 570 code has a date that's already passed and you haven't received any notices in the mail, it's most likely just a standard review delay. Mine took 9 weeks to go from 570 to 846. No letters, no explanations, just randomly updated one day. Check your transcript every Friday morning as that's when they typically update.

Update your transcript manually. Literally clear your cookies and relog in. I had the 570 code showing for weeks but after manually clearing cache and logging in fresh, suddenly I saw the 846 code that had been there for days! The transcript viewer doesn't always refresh properly.

•Yep! The IRS systems are ancient. I thought I was still stuck with a 570 code for an extra week because the site wasn't refreshing properly. Worth a try!

I've had every code in the book this year! 570, 971, 420, 571, and FINALLY 846 last week. The whole process took almost 3 months from filing to refund. What worked for me was getting an IRS tax advocate through my congressman's office. They expedited my case because I was facing financial hardship. Might be worth a try if you're in dire need of your refund.

I was confused by all the transcript codes and spent hours trying to decipher what was happening with my return. A friend recommended taxr.ai and it completely demystified everything for me. It analyzed my transcript and explained all the codes in plain English, and even predicted when my refund would arrive. My 570 code was due to them verifying my W-2 income. Once that cleared, I got my 846 code exactly when the tool predicted. https://taxr.ai saved me so much stress!

•I just tried this and WOW! It actually explained why I had a 570 code in a way that made sense. Turns out they're verifying my earned income credit eligibility. The tool says I should expect resolution in 1-2 more weeks. Finally feel like I understand what's going on!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed in early April, got the 570 code about 3 weeks ago with a May 6th date. The "additional account action pending" message is so vague and unhelpful. I've been checking my transcript obsessively every few days hoping to see it change to 846. Reading through these comments gives me some hope that it will eventually resolve itself. It's frustrating that the IRS can just hold our money with zero explanation or timeline. I haven't received any letters yet so I'm hoping it's just a routine review like many of you experienced. Thanks for starting this thread - at least I know I'm not alone in this mess!

•You're definitely not alone! I went through this exact same situation earlier this year. Had the 570 code for about 6 weeks with that same vague "additional account action pending" message. No letters, no communication, just waiting and checking my transcript constantly. Mine eventually updated to 846 and I got my refund without ever finding out what they were actually reviewing. The system is really backed up this year so try to hang in there. Most people seem to get resolution within 6-8 weeks based on what I've seen in this thread. Keep checking your transcript weekly but don't drive yourself crazy checking daily like I did!

I'm dealing with the exact same situation! Filed in late March, got the dreaded 570 code about 5 weeks ago. The worst part is the complete lack of communication - just that generic "additional account action pending" message that tells you absolutely nothing. I've tried calling the IRS dozens of times but can never get through. It's incredibly frustrating when you're depending on that refund money. Reading through everyone's experiences here is actually really reassuring though. Seems like most people eventually get their 846 code after 6-8 weeks of waiting, even without any letters or additional documentation requests. I'm going to try to be patient and just check my transcript once a week instead of obsessively checking every day. Thanks to everyone who shared their timelines - it helps to know this will eventually resolve itself!

•I totally understand your frustration! I'm in a similar boat - filed in early April and have been stuck with the 570 code for about 4 weeks now. The lack of communication from the IRS is the worst part. I've been reading through all these comments and it's actually giving me some hope that this will resolve itself eventually. It sounds like most people are seeing their 570 codes turn into 846 codes after about 6-8 weeks of waiting, even without getting any letters or having to provide additional documents. I'm trying to follow the advice here about only checking my transcript once a week instead of every day (easier said than done!). Hang in there - based on everyone's experiences, it seems like we just need to wait it out a bit longer.

I went through this exact same nightmare last year! Had a 570 code for almost 8 weeks with absolutely zero communication from the IRS. Just that frustrating "additional account action pending" message that tells you nothing. I was checking my transcript multiple times a day and driving myself crazy. Then one random Tuesday morning, I logged in and boom - 846 code was there! Got my refund deposited 3 days later. Never did find out what they were actually reviewing. The whole experience taught me that the 570 code is basically just the IRS saying "we're too busy right now, please wait." I know it's easier said than done, but try to check your transcript only once a week - daily checking will just stress you out more. Based on all the experiences I've read about, most 570 codes resolve to 846 within 6-10 weeks without any action needed from you. Hang in there!

•This is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm currently on week 4 of my 570 code and I've been checking my transcript literally every single day, sometimes multiple times. It's becoming an obsession and stressing me out so much. Your story gives me hope that this will eventually resolve itself without me having to do anything. I'm going to try to follow your advice and only check once a week - though that's going to be really hard! Thanks for sharing your experience and the reminder that most people seem to get through this eventually. The waiting game is brutal but at least I know I'm not alone in this.

Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines - it helps to know this nightmare eventually ends!

•I'm in the exact same boat! Filed in mid-April and have been stuck with the 570 code for about 2.5 weeks now. That "additional account action pending" message is absolutely maddening - it tells you literally nothing useful. I've been refreshing my transcript way too often and it's driving me crazy. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been such a relief though. It's clear that most people are seeing their 570 codes resolve to 846 codes after 6-8 weeks without any intervention needed. I'm going to try to follow the advice about only checking weekly instead of daily (though that's going to be really tough!). The lack of communication from the IRS is brutal, but at least we know we're not alone and that this does eventually get resolved for most people. Thanks for sharing - misery loves company! 😅
