DDD of 3/12 with Chase Bank - When to expect deposit?

So I just checked my transcript this morning and saw I finally have a direct deposit date for 3/12. I bank with Chase and I'm wondering if anyone with Chase has received their refunds early? Or should I just expect it exactly on the 12th? This waiting game is killing me, I've been checking WMR and my transcript daily since filing in late January.

Evelyn Martinez

With Chase, you'll most likely get it on your DDD or possibly one day early. Chase isn't known for releasing tax refunds early like some other banks do. When I had Chase last year, my deposit hit exactly on my DDD date. Some people report getting it a day early but don't count on it. The IRS sends the refunds to banks a few days early but banks like Chase typically hold them until the official date.

Thanks for the info! Just wish they'd release it early since they clearly already have the money πŸ™„

Chase is the WORST for early deposits. They hold onto that money making interest while we're all desperately waiting. My credit union always deposits 2 days early.

Yep, Chase does this with paychecks too. My company pays on Fridays but my friends with other banks get it Wednesday sometimes. Chase waits till midnight Thursday night.

Stop checking WMR and transcripts daily, it's such a waste of time and energy. I used taxr.ai and it explained exactly what was happening with my return AND predicted my DDD a week before it showed up on my transcript. It analyzes all your codes and cycles and actually explains what's happening in normal English. https://taxr.ai saved me from the daily anxiety of refreshing the IRS website. My return was similar - filed late January, got my DDD in March, and taxr figured it all out.

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

Isaac Wright

Oh it does WAY more than just read it. It actually analyzes all the codes, explains what each one means specifically for YOUR situation, predicts when you'll get paid based on your specific case, and tells you if there are any problems or delays. It saved me weeks of stress and confusion. Seriously a game changer for tax season.

I totally get the concern! But that's what's cool - you just upload a screenshot of your transcript, the same thing you'd post here. No personal info needed beyond what the transcript shows. I was skeptical too but it seriously saved my sanity this year.

I was stuck in the same situation last month with the same bank. After struggling to get through to the IRS for DAYS, I finally used Claimyr.com to get a callback from an actual IRS agent. Got connected in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for weeks on my own. The agent confirmed my refund was good to go and explained the exact timeline. Best decision ever - talking to a real agent cleared everything up immediately.

Does this actually work? Sounds too good to be true tbh

100% works. I was super skeptical too but was desperate after spending hours listening to the IRS hold music just to get disconnected. It was worth every penny to finally get answers directly from an agent instead of trying to decode the WMR messages.

how much does it cost?

Honestly whatever it costs is worth it. I spent probably 8+ hours trying to call myself. Think about what your time is worth - for me it was a no-brainer to finally get my questions answered by an actual IRS person.

With Chase, in my experience, the money hits exactly on the DDD. My DDD was 3/5 and that's exactly when I got it - not a day earlier. Some banks will release funds early but Chase definitely holds it until the exact date the IRS specifies.

i have chase and got my refund a day before my DDD last year. but this year it was right on the DDD. i think it just depends but don't count on it coming early. if your DDD is 3/12 i'd plan on seeing it that day.

-

Alexander Evans

That's helpful to know - guess I'll plan for the 12th but maybe I'll get lucky with a day early. The suspense is killing me!

I think it depends more on WHEN the DDD falls. Like if your DDD is on a weekend or Monday, you might get it early (Friday or Saturday). But since 3/12 is a Tuesday, Chase will probably just deposit it that day. My last refund had a Thursday DDD and that's exactly when Chase put it in my account.

This! Banking days matter a lot for when deposits hit. Weekday DDDs are usually right on time.

Wells Fargo, Chime and Current are known for releasing early. Chase.... sorry buddy they'll make you wait till the actual date. My brother and I filed same day. He got his 2 days early with Current. I waited till actual DDD with Chase. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

For anyone reading this post who doesn't already understand their transcript codes or what their DDD even means, check out taxr.ai - it scans your transcript and explains EVERYTHING in plain english. Saved me hours of googling random codes and dates and worrying about when I'd get paid. https://taxr.ai

I've used it - it's actually super helpful. You just take a screenshot of your transcript and upload it, then it breaks everything down and explains what's happening with your return. Saved me from asking dumb questions on here lol

It's worth whatever they charge. I spent days trying to understand my transcript before finding this. Would have paid double just to avoid the stress and confusion of trying to decipher those stupid IRS codes myself.

Have you tried calling the IRS to confirm everything is good to go? I was in a similar situation and couldn't get through for weeks. Finally used Claimyr.com and got a call back from an IRS agent in about 30 mins. Talking to the agent directly gave me peace of mind and they confirmed exactly when my deposit would hit.

the IRS doesn't do callbacks tho? How does this work?

It's not the IRS calling you back directly. The service basically navigates the phone tree and waits on hold for you. Then when they reach an agent, they connect the call to your phone. Saved me from spending hours on hold just to get disconnected.

I use Chase. If your DDD is 3/12 you'll get it 3/12. Chase is VERY strict about not releasing funds until the exact date, unlike some of the online banks. Sorry 😐

When will these banks realize people need there damn money 😀 Making us wait for no reason except they can make interest of our money for a few more days. The system is rigged against the little guy fr

if u really need ur money now u could try getting a tax refund advance loan. some places do it even after the IRS has issued ur refund, but theres usualy fees so might not be worth it if ur gonna get it in a few days anyway.

-

Alexander Evans

Nah I'll just wait it out. Not gonna pay fees when it's only a week away. Just impatient lol

Just be glad you have a DDD! I filed January 22nd and still stuck on delayed beyond normal timeframe. No idea when I'll get my money. Consider yourself lucky you at least have a date πŸ™ƒ

You guys should try calling the IRS. I was stuck like this and turns out there was an issue they needed to verify. I used Claimyr.com to get through after trying for days on my own. The agent fixed it right away and I had my DDD a week later.

Wait, how are you checking your transcript? I filed around the same time but I can't figure out how to access mine online. The IRS website keeps giving me errors.

Go to IRS.gov, click on "Get Transcript Online". You'll need to create an account if you don't have one. They'll verify your identity with credit report info and stuff. If you can't do the online verification, you can request it by mail but that takes like 10 days.

cycle code matters 2! If your cycle code ends in 01, 02, 03, 04 then ur weekly and updates happen on fridays. If it ends in 05 then ur daily and updates can happen any day. Check your transcript cycle code to understand your pattern.

Mine ends in 05 - so that means I'm daily? That's good I guess?

0 coins

-

yep, 05 is daily. BUT once you have a DDD it doesn't really matter anymore. Your deposit will come on the date listed (or maybe a day early with some banks but not usually chase

I have chase too. Filed 2/3, just got DDD of 3/10. My experience last year was that the money hit exactly on the DDD, not a day sooner. Chase is reliable but they don't do early deposits like some other banks.

i worked for a tax place and what i always told clients is expect it ON the DDD. some banks (mostly online ones like chime) may deposit early but most traditional banks will release exactly on the DDD. chase specifically doesnt do early deposits for anything including paychecks.

While you're waiting, make sure your banking info is correct in the IRS system. I had my DDD but the deposit got rejected because my account number was off by one digit. Took an extra 3 weeks to get a paper check 😭 Just double check everything is right in your tax return!

Ooof that sucks! I'm pretty sure mine is correct but I'll double check. Definitely don't want any more delays

The DDD is not a suggestion, it's a promise (for most people)! You'll get it on 3/12 give or take a day depending on chase and what time they process deposits. But don't expect it much earlier than that.
