Anyone received their DDD 3/19 refund yet?

I got my direct deposit date for March 19 and I'm wondering if anyone who had the same date already received their refund? I know it's still a few days away but I've seen people get theirs early before. I've been checking my bank account like a crazy person. Filed through TurboTax on February 12, got accepted same day, and WMR updated with the 3/19 date last weekend. Getting kinda anxious about it since I really need this money for some bills coming up.

I had 3/19 DDD from my transcript update last Friday. My refund hit my account this morning! I bank with Chase. Usually they post a day or two early. I filed on February 10 and was accepted same day. Had a path act delay since I claimed EITC. My WMR still shows processing even though the money is already in my account. The IRS systems never update at the same time.

Oh that's awesome to hear! I bank with Wells Fargo and they usually don't deposit early. But maybe there's hope! Did your WMR ever show the bars or did it just show processing the whole time?

It showed the bars initially, then went to the processing message with Tax Topic 152 after path act hit. Then finally showed approved with DDD this weekend. But like I said, the money came first before the final WMR update 😂

I'm with Wells Fargo too and they're notoriously slow with tax refunds. Last year they held mine for a full day after the official DDD. Might be worth checking taxr.ai to see if there's any other codes on your transcript that might indicate whether it's been sent yet.

thanks for the tip about wells fargo. Didnt know they might hold it an extra day. Will check out that taxr thing, never heard of it before

I was in the exact same situation as you last month. I was obsessively checking my transcript and WMR but couldn't make sense of all the codes and dates. Ended up using taxr.ai and it explained everything in plain English. Turns out my refund was already processed but my bank was holding it for an extra day. The tool basically translated all the transcript jargon that I was trying to decode like a detective. Saved me from calling the IRS and waiting on hold for hours. Definitely recommend checking it out: https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It analyzes your transcript and explains all the codes, dates, and what's actually happening with your refund. It also gives you a timeline of what's happened so far and what to expect next. Way more detailed than the WMR tool. I was able to pinpoint exactly when my refund was issued and when it would hit my bank.

Holy crap I just tried it and this is AMAZING! It explained my weird cycle code that I've been freaking out about for 2 weeks. Turns out it's completely normal and my refund is on schedule. This should be pinned at the top of this subreddit for real 🔥

does it cost anything? seems too good to be true tbh

There is a cost but it's worth every penny compared to the stress of not knowing what's happening with your money. I spent WEEKS trying to figure out what was going on before finding this.

After waiting 3 weeks with my DDD and no refund, I was going crazy. Couldn't get through to the IRS at all. Used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me a callback from an IRS agent within an hour. Agent explained that my refund had been flagged for a quick identity verification and released it right away. Money was in my account 2 days later. Best decision I made instead of wasting hours on hold and getting disconnected repeatedly.

Is this a real thing? Sounds sketchy... how does it even work?

Kolton Murphy

Yeah it's real. They basically call the IRS for you and when they get through, they connect the call to your phone. Saved me literal hours of hold time. I was desperate after calling for days and never getting through.

and you're sure its not just some scam to get your info?

0 coins

-

Kolton Murphy

Nope, they don't ask for any personal info. They just call the IRS line for you and connect you when an agent picks up. You talk directly to the IRS agent, not them. It was the only way I could actually reach someone after trying for days.

I used this too when I couldn't get answers about my amended return. It's literally just a way to skip the hold time. After spending 8+ hours trying to get through myself, this was a lifesaver!

Mine was supposed to be 3/12 and I still don't have it 🙃 I called the IRS and they said there's a random delay affecting some returns but they couldn't tell me when it would be fixed. So much for planning to pay bills on time.

how did you even get through to them? I've been calling for days and can't get past the automated system

I called at exactly 7am when they open and still waited 45 minutes. It's ridiculous. I heard some people use that Claimyr service but I was too stubborn to pay for something that should be free.

I'm in the same boat with my 3/12 date. Still nothing in my account. The IRS is a joke this year 🤡

I had 3/19 DDD and it hit my account yesterday! I use a credit union though and they usually post deposits as soon as they receive them. If you filed with TT and had fees taken out or got an advance, it might take longer because it goes through SBTPG first.

The DDD date is just the day the IRS sends it, not when you actually get it. Depending on your bank it could be early or even a day or two after. I've had Chase for years and they always deposit 1-2 days before the official date. My sister has BoA and they always make her wait until the exact date or even the day after. Frustrating but just how it works.

That makes sense. Wells Fargo is probably gonna make me wait til the actual date or later from what others are saying. Just anxious cause I need it for rent and bills.

Yeah Wells Fargo is notorious for holding deposits until the last possible moment. I switched banks a few years ago partially because of that.

Check the SBTPG website if you had fees taken out of your refund. They'll often show that they received your refund before it hits your bank account. Just google SBTPG refund status and enter your info.

I've had 3 different DDDs this year already because the IRS keeps adjusting my refund amount. First it was 2/28, then 3/7, now it's 3/21. I don't even trust the dates anymore. The entire system is broken.

That sucks! Did they tell you why they keep changing it?

Something about my withholding not matching what my employer reported. Then they adjusted my EIC. Then they found another "discrepancy" they won't explain. It's a nightmare.

same thing happened to me last year. ended up having to get a tax advocate to fix it. took 6 months to get my refund 😭

Pro tip: If you're really desperate to know what's happening with your refund, get your transcript online. It has way more detailed info than WMR will ever show you. You can see exactly what codes are on your account and what they mean. Just go to the IRS website and request your account transcript for 2023.

this is great advice but those transcripts look like hieroglyphics to most people lol

True, the codes are confusing. Gotta google each one to understand what's happening. There used to be good resources here about transcript codes but seems like they've disappeared.

I wasted hours trying to decode my transcript last week. Ended up using taxr.ai and it explained everything instantly. Best $20 I've spent during tax season tbh, saved me so much stress trying to figure out what all those codes meant.

Anyone else notice that if you had a cycle code ending in 05 your refund usually comes on Wednesday, and if it ends in 02 it usually comes on Monday? Been tracking this pattern for a few years now and it seems pretty consistent.

0 coins

-

Diego Castillo

Yep, I've noticed this too. The 05 cycle codes are weekly processing and 02 are daily processing. You can usually predict when your transcript will update based on this too.

Whats a cycle code and where do I find it? Is it on the WMR tool?

0 coins

-

Ruby Knight

Its on your transcript, not WMR. It basically tells you which processing cycle your return is in. Look for a code that looks like 20230905 or something similar - the last two digits are what matters.

This entire thread has me thinking I might be one of the only people who got their refund on the exact DDD with no issues 😂 Filed 2/2, accepted same day, got 2/21 DDD and it showed up exactly on 2/21. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket.

Look I'm just gonna say what we're all thinking: the IRS is severely underfunded and understaffed and we're all suffering for it. They're using computer systems from the 1960s and can't keep up with modern banking. Until Congress properly funds them, we're all gonna keep having these issues every. single. year.

Preach!! They're using COBOL programming from before most of us were born. And then politicians act surprised when things don't work efficiently.

Yep and then everyone blames the IRS employees who are just trying to do their jobs with outdated tools and not enough staff. The whole system needs an overhaul.

To answer your original question - yes, got my 3/19 DDD today with Chime. They always deposit as soon as they get the money, usually 2 days early. One of the main reasons I switched to them from traditional banks that hold your money.
