Any movement on 570 code this week? Filed in April and still waiting

Filed my taxes back in April and still stuck with 570 code on my account transcript since May. Been checking WMR religiously - no change at all. Has anyone with a 570 code seen any movement this week? I was expecting my refund to come in by end of August but now it's mid-November and I'm still waiting. Called IRS and they just say to keep waiting. Getting really frustrated as I could really use that money right now. Transcript shows no updates in nearly 3 months. This is my 2023 taxes btw.

The Boss

I had the 570 code since March and just got my refund last week. The 570 means there's a hold on your account for various reasons. In my case, they were verifying my dependents. Once it clears, you should see a 571 code (release of hold) followed by an 846 code (refund issued). There are several reasons you might have a 570 code: - Identity verification needed - Income discrepancy - Missing information - Credits being verified (EIC, CTC, etc) - Mathematical error You might want to check if you've received any letters from the IRS requesting additional information. If not, you can request a tax advocate. They helped me navigate through my issue and got my refund released.

Thanks for the detailed info! I haven't received any letters from them which is weird. How did you get a tax advocate? I heard they're really hard to get these days.

You're welcome! Yeah the no letter thing is confusing. You can call 1-877-777-4778 for the Taxpayer Advocate Service, but honestly they're overwhelmed. I waited on hold for 3 hours.

I was stuck in the same boat for SIX MONTHS and finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual IRS agent. Best decision ever - found out I had a simple address mismatch they never bothered to tell me about! Got my refund two weeks later.

Is Claimyr for real? Never heard of it before.

100% real. I was super skeptical too, but it saved me hours of hold music. They basically call the IRS for you and connect you when an agent picks up. Worth every penny considering I was waiting on a $4300 refund!

I've used it twice. Honestly beats the hell out of sitting on hold all day just to get disconnected 🙄

Stop wasting time guessing what's happening with your transcript. I was in the exact same position last month - had code 570 forever, no updates, no letters explaining why. I tried taxr.ai and it analyzed my transcript and immediately showed me what was causing the hold and gave me step-by-step instructions to fix it. It saved me from having to become some kind of amateur IRS code detective 😂 My refund got released a week after I followed their steps. Highly recommend checking out https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

Jasmine Quinn

It does WAY more than just read it! It basically scans every line, identifies exactly what's happening with your return, explains why there are holds or delays, and gives you specific actions to take. It found a discrepancy between what my employer reported and what I filed that I never would have caught on my own. The IRS never even sent me a letter about it! Seriously a game changer if you're stuck with these stupid codes and no explanation.

Is it actually accurate tho? Seems too good to be true tbh

I was super skeptical too, but honestly it's the real deal. My transcript had been sitting with no movement for 3 months, and the tool pinpointed EXACTLY what was causing the hold. I've told everyone I know who's struggling with tax issues to use it because the IRS is just impossible to deal with otherwise.

I finally found a way to get an IRS agent on the phone to help with my 570 code nightmare. After months of trying to call the regular numbers and either getting disconnected or waiting hours, I used Claimyr.com and actually spoke to someone who could help! They connected me with an IRS agent in about 20 minutes instead of the usual 3+ hour wait. The agent found that my return was under review because of an education credit issue. Having a live person help me was the only thing that finally moved my case forward - talking to an actual human was worth every penny since I was waiting on over $3000!

Does this actually work? I've been trying to reach someone at the IRS for weeks with no luck.

Yes 100%! I was desperate after trying for literally months. They basically call the IRS for you and connect you when they get through to an agent. Saved me hours of frustration and my case is finally moving.

hmm sounds suspicious. why would they be able to get through when nobody else can?

I was skeptical too but they use some kind of automated system that keeps trying different IRS numbers and extensions until it gets through. Used it last month and actually talked to someone who fixed my issue. Crazy that we have to pay extra just to talk to the government agency we pay taxes to 🙃

Exactly! It's ridiculous we even need services like this, but here we are. The IRS agent I spoke to actually apologized for how hard it is to reach them these days.

I had a 570 code for 156 days!! Just got my refund last Friday. No letter, no explanation, nothing. Just randomly updated one day and money was in my account 5 days later. The IRS is a joke tbh.

156 days??!! That's insane. Did you do anything that finally pushed it through?

Absolutely nothing. That's whats so frustrating. I called multiple times and just got the standard "still processing" response. Then one day it just cleared with no explanation. The system is broken.

My 570 code updated to a 571 yesterday!!! Check your transcripts if you haven't recently. Filed in February and have been waiting with 570 code since March 20th. No explanation for the hold, no letters, nothing. FINALLY seeing movement. Should get my refund next week if the 846 code posts as expected.

Honestly I called maybe 20 times over the months and finally about 2 weeks ago I got through to someone who actually seemed to care. She put a note on my account that I was experiencing financial hardship due to the delay. Not sure if that did it or it was just coincidentally my time in the queue.

mine finally changed from a 570 to a 571 on Friday, then got 846 code for 11/29 deposit date. been stuck since July. no idea what triggered the movement but im just glad its finally done. check your transcripts this week cause ive seen a lot of ppl getting movement lately.

570 code isn't always bad news! I had it for only 10 days then got my refund. It could just be a review of your return before approval. But since yours has been there so long, something is definitely holding it up. Have you checked for any offsets (past due taxes, child support, student loans, etc)? That can cause the hold too.

0 coins

-

Mia Roberts

I don't have any past due anything that I know of... no debts, no child support, student loans are current. That's why I'm so confused!

Then it might be identity verification or a math error. The IRS *should* send a letter for either of those but they're notorious for letters getting lost or never being sent. Try calling the ID verify line: 800-830-5084 to see if that's the issue.

Try checking your tax ACCOUNT transcript, not just your return transcript. Sometimes that will show additional codes that explain the hold. Also check USPS informed delivery if you have it - sometimes the IRS sends letters that never arrive.

I'm having the EXACT same problem. 570 since May, no movement, no letters, nothing. I've called like 10 times and every time they just say "it's still under review" and can't tell me why or when it will be completed. I'm about ready to call my congressman because this is ridiculous! We're approaching tax season for next year and they still haven't processed my return from last year!

0 coins

I know! And I depend on that money for Christmas presents for my kids. Not sure what I'm gonna do now. The system is so broken.

Actually calling your congressman/representative CAN help. I did this after 4 months of waiting and had my refund within 3 weeks. Their office has special channels to the IRS.

Have you checked for a 971 code in addition to the 570? Those usually come in pairs. 971 means they sent you a notice. If you have that code but never got a letter, you definitely need to call and find out what they were trying to tell you.

0 coins

-

Mia Roberts

I do have a 971 from back in May! But I never received any notice. That's really helpful, thank you - I'll definitely call and ask about that specifically.

this whole system is a joke. they expect us to fund them with our taxes but can't even process our returns in a timely manner. meanwhile they charge interest if we're late paying them. make it make sense 🤡

I tried it too after seeing someone recommend it here. It actually found that my employer reported a different amount on my W-2 than what I entered. IRS never sent me a letter about it. Fixed it and got my refund two weeks later.

I work as a tax preparer and have seen TONS of 570 codes this year. The IRS is severely backed up and understaffed. Many returns are getting flagged for manual review for even minor discrepancies. The real problem is they don't have enough staff to work through the backlog, so returns just sit there. Keep calling and be persistent. Ask specifically if there's anything they need from you to process your return.

-

Mia Roberts

Thanks for the insider perspective! Is there a specific department I should ask to be transferred to when I call?

0 coins

-

Sophia Long

Ask for the department that handles account management. And when you call, do it early in the morning (like right when they open) for the shortest wait times. Have your most recent transcript ready when you call so you can reference specific codes and dates.

Tired of waiting on hold for hours trying to reach the IRS? I finally broke down and used Claimyr and it was a total game changer. Got connected to an IRS agent in under 30 minutes. Found out my 570 code was due to a simple verification issue they never notified me about. Quick 10-minute call and my refund was released a week later. After months of stress and waiting, talking to a human who could actually help was the best feeling ever. Check out claimyr.com if you're stuck in IRS limbo like I was.

Honestly? For me it absolutely was. I had already wasted countless hours trying to call myself, getting disconnected, or waiting on hold only to get someone who couldn't help. Having a service that got me to an actual person who could fix my issue saved me so much time and frustration. My refund was over $5k so it was definitely worth it to finally get that resolved.

fyi the 570 code usually comes with a date. That date is important - it's not when your refund will be issued, but it's when the IRS plans to finish reviewing your return. If that date has passed and nothing's changed, definitely time to call.

I was stuck in this exact situation - 570 code for months with no explanation. Tried calling countless times but could never get through. Finally used taxr.ai and found out exactly what was causing the hold (income verification issue) and how to resolve it. Within 2 weeks of following their guidance, my refund was released! The best part was not having to decipher cryptic IRS codes or wait hours on the phone. https://taxr.ai saved me so much stress!

Mia Roberts

Thanks for the recommendation. How exactly does the service work? Do they connect you with the IRS?

0 coins

-

Andrew Pinnock

No, they don't connect you with the IRS - it's actually better than that. You upload your transcript and their AI analyzes all the codes and dates to pinpoint exactly what's causing the delay. In my case, it showed a discrepancy between reported wages that I never would have caught. Then they give you specific steps to resolve it based on your situation. Much more useful than the generic advice I kept getting when I called the IRS.
