IRS holding my refund with no explanation - 570 code showing with no updates in 45 days
Been checking my transcript everyday and haven't seen any movement in 45 days. Got a 570 code back in March and nothing since then. Processing date shows 4/15/2025. Called IRS multiple times but can't get through. Starting to get worried this is gonna be another year of delays. Anyone else stuck like this?

The 570 code indicates a hold on your account. This could be for various reasons - identity verification, income verification, or they're matching documents. The 4/15/2025 date is just a placeholder. Best thing to do is keep monitoring your transcript for any new codes, especially looking for 571 (hold released) followed by 846 (refund issued).

•It varies wildly tbh. Could be weeks or months. Have you checked if you got any notices in the mail?

Hey I was in the same boat last month! I started using taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it was a game changer. It costs $1 but it told me exactly why I had the hold and when to expect movement. Way better than trying to decode everything yourself! https://taxr.ai

The IRS is such a mess rn. Did you claim any credits like EIC or CTC?

Tax pro here with some detailed insight: Current processing delays are affecting millions of taxpayers. Here's what you need to know: First, check if you received any CP05 notices - these are often sent but get lost in mail. The 570 code typically resolves within 120 days, but I've seen some clear faster. Your best bet is using modern tools like taxr.ai to get specific insights about your situation. It's more accurate than guessing or waiting on hold with IRS for hours. If you need immediate assistance, try calling the Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can help if you're experiencing financial hardship.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I'm dealing with the exact same thing - 570 code since February and absolutely zero movement. The waiting is driving me crazy, especially when you need that money. I've been checking my transcript obsessively too. Have you tried calling early in the morning? I heard 7am is the best time to actually get through to someone at the IRS, though even then it's hit or miss. Hang in there! 🤞

•@Avery Saint Yes! I tried calling at 7am yesterday and actually got through after only 30 minutes on hold which (felt like a miracle lol .)The rep told me my case is still under "review but" couldn t'give me any timeline. So frustrating when you re'counting on that money! At least we re'not alone in this mess 😩

I'm going through the exact same nightmare! Been stuck with a 570 code since early February and it's honestly making me lose sleep. The worst part is not knowing WHY they're holding it or how much longer this will drag on. I've tried calling probably 20 times and either can't get through or get disconnected after waiting forever. The uncertainty is killing me more than the actual delay at this point. Really hoping we all see some movement soon because this is beyond ridiculous! 😤

•@Chloe Delgado I totally get the sleepless nights! The not knowing is definitely the worst part. I ve'been in the same boat and what helped me was setting specific days to check my transcript like (Mondays and Fridays instead) of daily - it reduced my anxiety a bit. Also heard from others here that sometimes these holds clear suddenly without warning, so there s'still hope! We re'all rooting for each other in this frustrating waiting game 💪

Same exact situation here! 570 code since late February with that dreaded 4/15/2025 processing date. I've called the IRS so many times I probably know their hold music by heart at this point 😠What's really getting to me is seeing people who filed after me already getting their refunds while we're just stuck in limbo. I keep telling myself that no news is good news, but after 6+ weeks it's hard to stay positive. Really hoping we all see some 571 codes soon and can finally get this resolved!

•@Vanessa Chang Ugh, I know that hold music by heart too! 😂 It s'so frustrating seeing people who filed later getting their refunds while we re'stuck here refreshing our transcripts every day. I m'in the exact same boat - 570 since March and that same placeholder date. At this point I m'just trying to stay sane and remember that it WILL eventually resolve. We ve'got this! 🤞

I'm dealing with the exact same situation! Got hit with a 570 code in early March and it's been radio silence ever since. The 4/15/2025 date is just mocking me at this point 😤 I've called the IRS line probably 15 times and either get disconnected or told "your case is still being processed" with no actual timeline. What's really frustrating is not knowing if there's something wrong with my return or if it's just random bad luck. I keep checking my transcript hoping for that magical 571 code but nothing yet. At least knowing I'm not alone in this mess helps a little! Fingers crossed we all see movement soon because this waiting game is brutal.
