IRS Transaction Code 570 - No Updates Since April ID Verification. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a transaction code 570 on my tax return and it's been stuck for weeks. I verified my identity back in early April, but there's been zero movement since then. No updates, nothing. I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do or say when I finally get through to the IRS?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been stuck with a 570 code for over two months now. It's so frustrating! Have you tried calling the IRS? Sometimes they can give you more info than what's showing up online.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold last week!

Here's what I would say when you get through to an agent: "Hello, I have a transaction code 570 on my account and I verified my identity in early April. However, there haven't been any updates since then. Could you please help me understand the status of my return and what steps are needed to resolve this?" Be polite but firm, and don't be afraid to ask for specifics about what's causing the hold-up.

•Good advice. Also, make sure to write down the name of who you talk to and get a case number if possible. It helps for follow-ups.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/UiAegRQ2Is8

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

•I used it last month. Can confirm it works, but feels kinda weird paying to talk to the IRS lol

The IRS is such a joke. They expect us to pay our taxes on time, but when it comes to giving us our refunds, suddenly they can take all the time in the world. 🙄

•To be fair, they're super understaffed and dealing with millions of returns. But yeah, it still sucks for us.

I had the same issue last year. Turns out there was a discrepancy between what I reported and what my employer reported. Double-check all your documents to make sure everything matches up!

•Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely go over everything again. Did you have to submit any additional forms to resolve it?

•Yeah, I had to fill out a 4506-T form to request a wage and income transcript. Then I found the error and filed an amended return. It took a while, but it got sorted eventually.

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Transaction code 570 since March and I did my ID verification in April too. The waiting is absolutely killing me. One thing that helped me was checking my account transcript online - it sometimes shows more details than the "Where's My Refund" tool. Also, I've heard that if you haven't heard anything after 9 weeks from your ID verification date, you should definitely call. The automated system sometimes has different info than what shows online. Hang in there! 🤞

•Thanks for sharing your experience @Zane Hernandez! It's oddly comforting to know I'm not alone in this mess. I'll definitely check my account transcript - didn't even think of that. Nine weeks from ID verification puts me right around now, so maybe it's time to bite the bullet and try calling again. Really appreciate the timeline reference, that's super helpful! 🙏
