GA DCFS EBT: Tips for reaching a real person to confirm address?
Hey everyone, I need to confirm my address with the EBT office. Has anyone had any luck getting through to them lately? I've been trying to call but it's been impossible to reach a real person. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated!

Hey OP, just curious - how long have you been trying to get this address change done? I'm in the same boat and wondering how long I'm gonna be stuck in this limbo π

Listen up, folks. I've been dealing with EBT for years, and here's what I've learned: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. 2. Try different times of day. Sometimes mid-afternoon is less busy. 3. Be prepared when you call. Have all your info ready. 4. If you can't get through by phone, try email or their online portal. 5. As a last resort, go in person. Bring a book, you might be waiting a while. Remember, the system is designed to be frustrating. Don't give up! Your benefits are your right.

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you document everything. Write down who you talk to, when, and what they say. It's saved my butt more than once when dealing with these bureaucratic nightmares. Good luck!

β’Solid advice. Always good to have a paper trail when dealing with government offices. You never know when you'll need it.

Pro tip: if you can't get through to a person, try selecting the Spanish option. Sometimes those lines are less busy and they usually have English-speaking agents too.

β’I tried this once and got yelled at by the agent π YMMV I guess

β’It's worth a try! Sometimes the less-used options can yield faster results. Just be polite and explain your situation if questioned.

β’I heard they were updating things too, but it's always a slow process. Technology upgrades in government systems tend to take time before we see any noticeable difference.

Have you tried going to the office in person? Sometimes that's faster than trying to call.

β’I hadn't thought of that. Do you know if they take walk-ins or do I need an appointment?

β’Last time I went, they were taking walk-ins. But that was a few months ago, so you might wanna check their website first.

β’Definitely check online or give the office a call. Policies might have changed, especially with COVID-19. It's better to be prepared before heading out.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to actually use our benefits or something π

β’I totally get that frustration. It's like we have to jump through hoops just to get the help we need. Hang in there!

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

β’I've tried that a few times, but no luck so far. Maybe I'll give it another shot tomorrow morning. Thanks for the suggestion!

β’Nah, that doesn't work anymore. Everyone knows that trick now, so the lines are jammed from the get-go.

Just as a reminder, if you're struggling with these systems regularly, you might want to reach out to your local representative to share your experiences. They might be able to help push for changes or at least bring awareness to the issues.

Hey OP, have you considered contacting local advocacy groups? Sometimes they have resources or contacts that can help expedite issues with benefits. It's worth reaching out to them for assistance.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/nZambXh8Woc

β’Wait, what? You have to pay to talk to someone about your benefits? That's messed up.

β’Sounds like a scam to me. Why would you need to pay for something like that?

β’I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate after trying for weeks and it actually worked. Yeah, it sucks to pay, but for me it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

β’Claimyr is a known service for expediting calls to government agencies. While the service fee might seem high, some users find it a small price to pay for resolving time-sensitive issues. However, it is important to weigh this cost against the potential outcome.

Have you guys seen that new meme about EBT hold times? It's like "Time you spend on hold with EBT" and it's just a picture of a skeleton π Too real man, too real
