EBT Card Issues: Tips for Actually Reaching a Human at the Office?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my EBT card and I need to talk to someone at the office. Has anyone had any luck getting through to a real person lately? I've been trying for days and keep getting stuck in the automated system. Any tips or tricks would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to actually talk to anyone 🙄

•Same here! I swear they make it difficult on purpose. Anyone know if there's a secret number or something?

•I heard if you press 0 repeatedly it might get you to a human faster, but idk if that actually works lol

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/iYFSA6RTlOI

•Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Have you actually tried it yourself?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay for basic customer service 😤

•I know it sounds crazy, but I've used it twice now. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

•Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. How do we know it's legit?

•I get the skepticism, but it's a real service. Check out their website or the video I linked. It's not perfect, but it beats sitting on hold for hours.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I managed to get through once by doing that, but it took a few attempts.

This whole system is so broken. We need to start complaining to our representatives about this. It's not okay that we can't access the help we need!

•100% agree. But good luck getting them to care about us little people 🙄

•Maybe we should organize a mass call-in day to overwhelm their system and force them to improve it?

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EBT issues for the past year: • Best times to call are usually early morning (right when they open) or late afternoon • If you get an automated system, try saying 'agent' or 'representative' repeatedly • Keep a record of all your calls (dates, times, who you spoke to if you get through) • Check their website for any online chat options – sometimes these have shorter wait times • If possible, visit a local office in person. It's a hassle, but you might get faster results • Be persistent and don't give up. It sucks, but sometimes you just have to keep trying Hope this helps someone! We're all in this frustrating boat together. 💪

•Great tips! I'd add: have all your info ready before you call. Nothing worse than finally getting through and realizing you forgot your case number or something

Anyone else notice that their website is always 'under maintenance' when you need it most? 🤦♂️

I feel everyone's frustration here! I've been dealing with EBT issues for months. One thing that's worked for me is calling the main line and immediately pressing 0 multiple times as soon as the recording starts - sometimes it bypasses the menu entirely. Also, try calling on Tuesdays or Wednesdays around 2-3pm, seems to be less busy then. And definitely have your case number, SSN, and PIN ready before calling. Keep trying y'all, we got this! 💪

•Thanks for the tip about calling Tuesday/Wednesday afternoons! I never thought about timing it that way. Definitely gonna try the rapid 0 pressing technique too - anything's worth a shot at this point. Really appreciate you sharing what's worked for you!

I've had some luck using a different approach - try calling the county office directly instead of the main state line. Each county has their own EBT customer service number and they're usually way less busy. You can find your county's specific number on the CA EBT website under "contact us." I got through in like 15 minutes last week doing this vs waiting 2+ hours on the main line. Also pro tip: if you have to leave a voicemail, they actually do call back within 24-48 hours (at least in my county). Hope this helps someone!
