If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

As someone who just went through a similar situation last month, I can confirm that the multi-step approach really works. I had to extend my return date by 8 weeks due to a workplace injury, and I was terrified my benefits would get cut off. I did exactly what others have suggested here: filed the change request in CONNECT, got written documentation from HR, and then used a callback service to speak with a DEO representative. The whole process took about 10 days to fully process, but my benefits continued without interruption. One thing I'd add - when you do get through to an agent, ask them to read back the notes they're adding to your file so you know exactly what was recorded. This saved me when there was a small discrepancy later. Also, screenshot everything you submit online and keep copies of all employer correspondence. The peace of mind is worth the extra documentation effort!

This is exactly the kind of detailed advice I was hoping to find! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - my return date got pushed back by 6 weeks and I was panicking about my benefits getting cut off. The tip about asking the agent to read back their notes is brilliant, I never would have thought of that. I'm definitely going to follow this multi-step approach and keep everything documented. Thanks for sharing your experience, it's really reassuring to know this process actually works when done properly!

I just wanted to add my perspective as someone who works in HR and frequently deals with employees on temporary layoffs. From the employer side, we often have to adjust return dates due to changing business conditions, and we understand that employees need to update their unemployment benefits accordingly. When providing written documentation to your employees about date changes, we typically include: 1) Original layoff date and expected return date, 2) New expected return date with reason for change, 3) Company contact information for verification, and 4) A statement that this is temporary layoff extension, not termination. For anyone in this situation, don't hesitate to ask your HR department for this documentation - we're used to these requests and it's in everyone's interest to have clear records. Also, many employers will proactively send this documentation to the state, but it's always better to handle it yourself rather than assume your employer will take care of it.

This HR perspective is incredibly valuable! As someone new to navigating unemployment benefits, I had no idea that employers typically provide such detailed documentation for temporary layoff extensions. It's really helpful to know exactly what should be included in that paperwork - the four points you listed will definitely help me know what to ask for if I ever need this kind of documentation. I'm curious though, from your experience, do you find that employees usually know to request this documentation, or do most people struggle with figuring out what they need? It seems like there's a lot of confusion about the proper process based on this thread.

0 coins

Great question! In my experience, most employees don't initially know what documentation they need - there's definitely confusion about the process. I'd say about 70% of people come to us asking "I need something for unemployment" without knowing specifics. That's completely normal! What I've found helpful is creating a standard template letter that includes all the key information I mentioned. When someone requests documentation, we just fill in their specific dates and circumstances. It saves time and ensures we don't miss important details. I'd encourage anyone reading this to be proactive - if your return date changes, contact HR immediately and specifically ask for "written documentation of temporary layoff extension for unemployment benefits purposes." Most HR departments will know exactly what you need once you phrase it that way.

When I was on unemployment last year I had sooooo many problems with the payments being wrong. My advice - screenshot EVERYTHING, keep a detailed record of all your work hours, and call them immediately when something seems off. The DEO system is a mess and sometimes the only way to get things fixed is to be super persistent. Also make sure you're documenting your 5 work searches every week!

0 coins

Thanks for the advice! I've been taking screenshots but didn't think about documenting my work hours separately. And yes, I've been doing my 5 work searches every week - that part is actually pretty straightforward. Just wish the payment part was as clear!

Hey Miguel! I went through this exact same confusion when I first started getting unemployment with part-time work. The math can be really tricky to figure out at first. Based on what you've described, it sounds like Zainab nailed it - you're dealing with both the earnings deduction AND tax withholding. Here's what likely happened: - Your $275 WBA - Minus $70 (your $128 earnings minus the $58 disregard) - Equals $205 before taxes - Minus federal tax withholding (probably around $30-31 to get you to $174) The good news is this is all working as it should! You're still getting a decent benefit even with the part-time work. Just make sure you keep reporting those hours accurately each week. And definitely try to get those held weeks sorted out - that's where your real money is waiting!

Thanks Caleb! Yeah, I'm starting to understand the math better now. It's frustrating that CONNECT doesn't show this breakdown clearly - I was panicking thinking there was some kind of error. Really appreciate everyone explaining how the earnings deduction and tax withholding work together. Now I just need to figure out what's going on with those weeks on hold. Might try that Claimyr service Keisha mentioned if I can't get through to DEO directly.

Great to hear you got it sorted out! Your experience highlights exactly why this process is so frustrating for people. It shouldn't take multiple attempts and different methods just to get a basic tax document. For future reference for anyone reading this thread, if you're collecting unemployment benefits, I'd recommend downloading/printing your 1099-G as soon as it becomes available (usually by January 31st) rather than waiting until you need it for filing. Save yourself the headache later! Also, for those who might be in a similar situation next year - you can actually request to have federal taxes withheld from your unemployment benefits when you first apply or anytime during your claim. It's 10% of your benefit amount and can save you from owing a big chunk at tax time.

This is such great advice! I wish I had known about the tax withholding option when I first applied. Would have saved me a lot of stress this tax season. The tip about downloading the 1099-G right when it's available is spot on too - definitely learned that lesson the hard way. Thanks for sharing these helpful tips for anyone who might need unemployment benefits in the future!

Just wanted to add another tip for anyone still struggling with this - if you're having trouble with the CONNECT website, try logging in during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening). I've noticed the site tends to be less buggy when fewer people are using it. Also, make sure you're using the full desktop version of the site rather than mobile - the mobile version seems to have more issues with document downloads. One more thing - if you do end up calling DEO, have all your information ready: claimant ID, Social Security number, dates you collected benefits, and your current address. The agents can usually email or mail the 1099-G while you're on the phone if their system is working properly that day.

I'm in a very similar situation right now! My adjudication status just disappeared yesterday after 6 weeks of waiting (laid off from hospitality). Reading through all these experiences is giving me so much hope - it sounds like most people see payments within 2-5 days after that message disappears. @Mateo Hernandez - I really feel for you being down to your last $250 with rent coming up. That financial stress while waiting is just brutal. Based on what everyone is sharing here, it sounds like you're right at the finish line! I'm going to try some of the tips people mentioned like checking the "Payment History" and "Weekly Benefit Details" sections at 8am instead of obsessively refreshing the main page all day. Also definitely agree with reaching out to your landlord early to explain the situation. I had to do that last month during a different delay and they were surprisingly understanding. Many landlords know the unemployment system is a mess right now. Fingers crossed we both see some good news in the next few days! This community has been so helpful during such a stressful time.

@Dominic Green I m'so glad you found this thread helpful too! It s'been such a lifeline for me during this stressful waiting period. Six weeks is brutal - I totally understand that anxiety you re'feeling. The fact that both of our adjudication statuses disappeared around the same time gives me hope we might both see resolution soon! I ve'started following everyone s'advice about checking specific sections at 8am instead of constantly refreshing, and it s'definitely helping my sanity. This whole process has been such an emotional nightmare, but seeing so many success stories here makes me feel like we re'finally close to the end. Really hoping we both wake up to good news in our accounts over the next few days! Thanks for sharing your situation - knowing others are going through the exact same thing makes it feel less isolating.

Just wanted to jump in here as someone who went through this exact nightmare about 6 months ago! My adjudication status disappeared on a Thursday morning and I was literally down to my last $180 with car payment due. I checked my account obsessively for 3 days straight before the money finally hit my bank account on Sunday evening - got 9 weeks of backpay all at once. The key things that helped me track progress were checking the "Monetary Determination" section (shows if you were actually approved) and the "Payment History" page around 8am each morning. Those sections update before the main status page does. @Mateo Hernandez - definitely reach out to your landlord NOW rather than waiting. I was embarrassed to explain my situation but most landlords understand that unemployment delays aren't your fault. Also try calling your local United Way (dial 211) - they often have emergency rental assistance for people in exactly your situation while waiting on delayed UI benefits. The fact that your adjudication message disappeared is genuinely a great sign based on everyone's experiences here. You're so close to the finish line! Try to hang in there just a few more days.

This thread is so helpful! I'm going through something similar right now - got the vague fact finding email 3 days ago and nothing in CONNECT. Reading through everyone's experiences, it sounds like the system glitches are unfortunately really common with DEO. I'm going to follow Dylan's approach and try calling them first thing tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work, I'll look into the Claimyr service that StarSailor mentioned. It's reassuring to know that these issues do get resolved eventually, even though the whole process is incredibly stressful. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it really helps to know we're not alone dealing with DEO's broken system!

I'm in the exact same boat! Got my fact finding email 2 days ago and have been checking CONNECT obsessively with no luck. It's so frustrating that this seems to be such a widespread issue with their system. I'm definitely going to try calling first thing in the morning too - maybe if we all call around the same time we'll have better luck getting through! Has anyone had success getting through at a specific time of day? I've heard 8 AM right when they open might be the best shot.

0 coins

I've been dealing with DEO for over a year now and this exact scenario happens WAY too often. The system glitch between their email notifications and what actually shows up in CONNECT is a known issue that they just haven't fixed. Here's what I've learned from experience: 1. Call DEO at exactly 7:59 AM - their phone lines open at 8 AM but if you call a minute early you sometimes get in the queue before the rush 2. If calling doesn't work, try the "Contact Us" form in CONNECT and specifically mention "URGENT: Fact Finding Due [your date] - No Questions Visible in Account" 3. Screenshot everything - your empty inbox, your determination page showing no pending issues, etc. This helps when you finally talk to someone The fact that this is such a common problem and they haven't fixed it is honestly unacceptable. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to find out what information they need from us. Good luck to everyone dealing with this mess right now!
