CONNECT login keeps failing after ID.me verification - reset password not working

Hey everyone, I'm totally stuck with the CONNECT system right now! I successfully completed my ID.me verification yesterday, but the Florida unemployment portal keeps rejecting my login attempts with 'invalid email or password' errors. I've already reset my password THREE times thinking that would fix it, but I'm still getting locked out. Does the system need time to process the ID.me verification before accepting logins? Is there some trick to this? I'm getting desperate since I have claim weeks to file and bills piling up. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks, I'll try that right now. Did your problem eventually resolve itself or did you have to do something specific?

The CONNECT system is an absolute NIGHTMARE with these login issues!! I dealt with this exact problem for TWO WEEKS after completing ID.me. What nobody tells you is that there's a synchronization delay between ID.me and CONNECT that can take 24-72 hours. But even after waiting, I STILL couldn't get in. DEO's tech team is completely useless - I called 37 times before getting through only to be told "we're working on it" 🤬

While the synchronization delay is real, there's actually a specific fix for this. When you reset your password, are you doing it through CONNECT or through ID.me? They're separate systems and you need to make sure your CONNECT password is reset through the CONNECT system directly. Also, make sure you're using the email associated with your CONNECT account, not your ID.me email if they're different.

I had this exact issue last month. After trying everything, I discovered the solution: there's a specific sequence you need to follow. First, completely log out of ID.me on all browsers. Then clear your cache and cookies. Wait about 15 minutes. Then go directly to CONNECT (not through ID.me) and use the 'Forgot Password' link. When resetting, make sure your new password has at least one capital letter, one number, one special character, and is at least 12 characters long. The system is picky but doesn't tell you the exact requirements.

Thank you so much for the detailed instructions! I'm going to try this right now. The password requirements might be the issue since I was using something simple. I'll update if it works!

Just wanted to add something I learned from my experience - sometimes the CONNECT system marks accounts for additional verification after ID.me is complete. If the password reset doesn't work, you might need to contact DEO directly to have them manually verify and unlock your account. I spent days trying to fix it myself before learning this.

Have you tried using a different browser entirely? My CONNECT account would never work on Chrome but worked fine on Firefox. Something about the way their security certificates interact with different browsers. Also make sure you're typing your email exactly right - the system is super sensitive to even tiny differences in capitalization or spaces.

I've only been trying on Chrome, so trying Firefox is a good idea. And I'll double-check my email formatting. Thanks for the suggestions!

I've heard about this but was skeptical. Does it actually work? The DEO phone system is absolutely infuriating, I literally can't get through no matter what time I call.

yea it worked for him. said they called him back in like 2 hrs and the agent unlocked his account. way better than calling for days

I work with unemployment claims professionally, and I can confirm a few things: 1) Yes, there is an ID.me to CONNECT sync delay of 24-72 hours as someone mentioned. 2) Password requirements are: minimum 12 characters, 1 uppercase, 1 lowercase, 1 number, 1 special character, and cannot contain your name or email. 3) Most importantly - if you've tried resetting multiple times and still can't get in, your account is likely locked and requires manual intervention. DEO doesn't always notify you when this happens. You'll need to speak with a representative who can verify your identity and unlock the account.

Thank you for the professional insight! I've now tried all the technical fixes suggested (clearing cache, different browser, proper password format) but still no luck. Sounds like I need to speak with DEO directly to get my account unlocked. I'll try the regular number again and if that doesn't work, might try that Claimyr service someone mentioned.

UPDATE: Success! After trying all the technical fixes without luck, I ended up using Claimyr to get through to DEO (regular phone method was impossible). The agent confirmed my account was locked due to multiple password reset attempts plus the ID.me verification timing. They manually unlocked it, had me create a new password while on the phone, and I'm now able to access CONNECT! Thank you everyone for your help - couldn't have figured this out without your suggestions.

Glad you got it fixed! This is EXACTLY why I hate the DEO system so much. They make everything unnecessarily complicated and then don't give us any way to actually contact them when their poorly designed systems inevitably fail. And they wonder why people get frustrated! 🙄

So true. The most frustrating part is they don't clearly communicate what's happening. A simple notification saying "Your account is locked and requires agent assistance" would save everyone so much time and stress.

This thread is so helpful! I'm bookmarking it because I'm sure I'll run into similar issues with CONNECT eventually. @Paolo Moretti glad you got it sorted out - the fact that you needed a third-party service just to contact DEO about their own broken system is ridiculous. For anyone else reading this later, it sounds like the key takeaways are: 1) Wait 24-72 hours after ID.me verification, 2) Use proper password requirements (12+ chars, mixed case, numbers, symbols), 3) Try different browsers, 4) If multiple resets fail, your account is probably locked and needs DEO to manually unlock it. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!

Perfect summary! I wish I had found a thread like this when I was dealing with my CONNECT nightmare last year. One thing I'd add to your list is to screenshot everything - error messages, confirmation emails from password resets, etc. When you finally do get through to DEO (whether through regular phone or a service like Claimyr), having those screenshots helps the agent understand exactly what you've tried and speeds up the resolution process.

As someone who just went through this exact same nightmare last week, I can confirm that the system is absolutely broken by design. What worked for me was a combination of what others mentioned here - I had to wait the full 72 hours after ID.me verification, then use a completely different browser (Edge worked when Chrome and Firefox didn't), and create a super complex password. But the real kicker was that my account was still locked even after all that, and I had to get DEO to manually unlock it. The fact that they don't tell you when your account is locked is criminal. For anyone still struggling with this, document EVERYTHING with timestamps and screenshots - it helps when you finally get through to an agent. This system desperately needs a complete overhaul.

This is incredibly frustrating but so validating to read! I'm new to this whole unemployment process and was starting to think I was doing something fundamentally wrong with the CONNECT system. Your point about documenting everything with timestamps is brilliant - I wish I had started doing that from day one. It's honestly shocking that in 2025 we still have to deal with government systems this broken. Thank you for sharing your experience and the practical advice about trying Edge browser. Going to try that next along with the screenshot documentation approach.

This entire thread is a perfect example of why Florida's unemployment system is fundamentally broken. @Paolo Moretti I'm so glad you finally got through, but the fact that you had to use a third-party service just to contact DEO about THEIR system failing is absolutely insane. I've been helping people navigate CONNECT issues for over a year now, and the ID.me integration has made everything exponentially worse. The lack of clear communication about account locks, the hidden password requirements, the sync delays - it's like they designed this system to fail. What really gets me is that DEO knows these issues exist but does nothing to fix the root problems or even provide better error messages. Instead they just tell people to "keep trying" while their accounts get locked behind the scenes. For anyone reading this thread later: save yourselves the headache and assume your account will get locked if you have ANY issues after ID.me verification. Don't waste days trying technical fixes - go straight to getting DEO on the phone (however you can manage it) and have them manually verify everything. The system is broken, not you.

@Lim Wong You ve'hit the nail on the head! As someone completely new to this system, reading through all these experiences has been both enlightening and terrifying. It s'mind-boggling that a state unemployment system - something people rely on during their most vulnerable times - can be this dysfunctional. The fact that multiple people had to use third-party services just to contact the agency responsible for the broken system speaks volumes about how backwards this whole setup is. I m'just starting my unemployment claim process and honestly dreading the ID.me integration now. Should I expect my account to get locked and just plan accordingly? It seems like the normal "experience" is actually the broken one based on everyone s'stories here.
