ID.me locked me out of NY unemployment account - need urgent help bypassing verification

I'm completely stuck with this ID.me mess on my NY unemployment account! I created an ID.me account last week to verify my identity for unemployment benefits, but now I can't login to my NYSDOL account at all. Every time I try using my regular username and password, it redirects me to ID.me verification again, then gets stuck in some weird loop. I've tried resetting my password THREE times but nothing works. The worst part is there's literally no phone number to contact ID.me directly about this issue! I'm missing my weekly certifications and freaking out about losing benefits. Has anyone figured out how to fix this ID.me nightmare or found a way to contact an actual human at NYSDOL who can help? I'm desperate here...

I had this exact same problem in January. The ID.me verification system is creating login conflicts with existing accounts for many people. The key is to clear your browser cache completely, then try using a different browser entirely (if you're using Chrome, switch to Firefox or Edge). Also, make sure you're accessing the NYSDOL site directly from ny.gov rather than from any saved bookmarks or links in emails. If that doesn't work, you need to call the NYSDOL technical support line at 888-209-8124, press 1 for English, then press 2 for PIN/password issues. Be prepared to wait though - I was on hold for over 2 hours.

Thank you! I just tried clearing my cache and using Edge instead of Chrome but still getting the same stupid loop. I'll try calling that number but honestly I've already tried calling multiple times this week and either get disconnected or can't even get in the queue. It's like they don't want people to actually get their benefits!

This is a widespread issue that many NY unemployment claimants are experiencing with ID.me integration. While the verification system helps prevent fraud, it's creating technical problems for legitimate users. Here's what you need to do: 1) First, make sure you've fully completed the ID.me verification process with a green checkmark confirmation 2) Then try accessing your NYSDOL account through an incognito/private browsing window 3) If that doesn't work, you need to contact NYSDOL directly to have them manually verify your identity and unlock your account 4) Important: Make note of the exact error message you're receiving - this helps the agent diagnose the specific issue The phone queue is extremely backed up right now because of this issue, so persistence is key.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I did get the green checkmark on ID.me, but then it still loops me back to verification when I try to log in. I'll try the incognito window now. The error message I keep getting is "Your identity verification is pending. Please complete verification through ID.me" even though I already did!

i had this problem to. u need to make sure ur using the EXACT same email for both accounts. if ur nysdol email is different from ur id.me email even by ONE letter it causes the loop problem. check if thats ur issue

Hmm, that's a good point. Let me double-check both accounts. I think they're the same email but maybe I capitalized something differently or added a period somewhere.

I've been dealing with NYSDOL for years and these ID.me problems are EXACTLY why they need to fix their garbage system!! They force everyone to use this third-party verification that barely works, then their own agents can't even help when it fails!! I spent 3 WEEKS trying to get back into my account after ID.me locked me out. Called literally 47 times (yes I counted) and got disconnected EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. The system is DESIGNED to frustrate people until they give up on claiming benefits they DESERVE!!! It's criminal what they're doing to people who just need their money!

After going through this nightmare myself last month, I finally found a solution! I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual NYSDOL agent who fixed my ID.me issue in about 5 minutes once I got on the phone with them. They have this callback service that basically waits on hold for you then calls when an agent is available. Saved me literally days of frustration. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE The agent explained that there's a specific technical issue with how ID.me tokens are sometimes not properly syncing with NYSDOL accounts. Only the technical support team can manually override and fix it on their end. Regular agents can't help with this particular problem.

This sounds amazing! I'm going to check this out right now. At this point I'd try anything to get this fixed. Did they ask for any specific information to fix the ID.me issue?

They just needed my name, last 4 of SSN, and DOB to pull up my account. Then they asked some security questions to verify it was me. The agent did something on their end to reset the ID.me connection, then had me try logging in while still on the phone. Worked immediately.

I work in IT and there's actually a technical reason this happens with ID.me and NY unemployment. The authentication cookie from ID.me sometimes conflicts with existing NYSDOL session cookies. Try this specific fix: 1. Open Chrome/Firefox dev tools (F12 key) 2. Go to Application > Storage > Cookies 3. Delete ALL cookies related to id.me and ny.gov 4. Close browser completely, reopen and try again This fixed it for several people I know without having to call. But if it doesn't work, then yes, you'll need to reach an agent.

Wow, thank you! This sounds like it might actually work. I'll try this method right now and report back if it fixes the issue. I appreciate the technical explanation!

Creating a new ID.me account when one is already linked to your SSN can actually cause more problems and verification flags. It's better to fix the existing account connection.

UPDATE: I finally got it fixed!! The cookie deletion method helped but didn't completely solve it. I ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned above to get through to a real person at NYSDOL. Got a callback within an hour and the agent knew exactly what the problem was. Apparently my ID.me verification was stuck in some kind of pending status on their end even though it showed completed on mine. They did a manual override and had me log in while still on the phone with them. Everything works now! Most importantly, the agent was able to let me backdate my certifications for the weeks I missed, so I won't lose any benefits. Such a relief after almost two weeks of stress!

Great news! Glad you got it resolved. For anyone else with this issue, it seems like the fastest solution is getting through to an actual agent who can do the manual override on their end.

SHOCKING that the only way to fix their broken system is to talk to a human...who they make nearly impossible to reach!! But glad you got it fixed!
