Won EDD appeal but UI Online still shows 'no claim' - when will I be able to certify?

After 3 months of fighting, I finally won my appeal hearing last week!! I got the official letter in the mail yesterday saying I was granted $476/week (so relieved). But when I log into UI Online, it still shows 'no weeks available to certify' and my portal still says I don't have an active claim. Has anyone else gone through this after winning an appeal? How long does it take for the system to update so I can actually start certifying and get paid? I'm down to my last $200 and getting really anxious about how much longer this will take...

Congrats on winning your appeal! I went through this exact situation in January. It took about 10 business days after I received my award letter for my UI Online to update. The EDD has to manually process appeal decisions, and they're always backlogged. You should be able to certify for all your back weeks once it updates. If it goes longer than 2 weeks, definitely call them - use Claimyr.com to get through to an actual person (https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km). Saved me hours of redial hell when I needed to follow up on my appeal.

10 business days?? That's still almost 2 more weeks of waiting! Did you get paid for all the back weeks right away after it updated?

my friend had thsi EXACT thing happen and it took like 3 weeks for the system to update and she ended up having to go to the office in person!!! the EDD is sooooo bad at updating there systems after appeals its like they dont talk to eachother lol

Ugh, 3 weeks sounds terrible. Did she have to bring anything specific to the office appointment? I wonder if that would be faster than waiting.

The delay between winning an appeal and having your UI Online portal updated is unfortunately common. Here's what you need to know: 1. The average update time is 7-14 business days after the appeal decision letter is issued 2. Your portal should eventually show all past weeks you're eligible to certify for 3. You do NOT need to file a new claim - the system will update your existing claim 4. The first payment typically comes 2-3 days after you're able to certify If it's been more than 14 business days, call the EDD Appeals Division directly at 1-800-300-5616 (option 1) rather than the regular EDD line. Make sure to have your appeal case number ready from your decision letter.

Thank you for laying it out so clearly! I'll mark my calendar for 14 business days from when I got the letter and call the Appeals Division if it's not updated by then.

Same thing happened to me!!! Won my appeal in March and took almost a month to update in the system. So stupid how long everything takes with EDD.

I've handled dozens of EDD appeals cases professionally, and I can tell you that the timeframe varies widely depending on the specific appeals office handling your case and current workloads. The formal procedure is that your local EDD office should receive notification from the appeals board within 3-5 business days, then they manually process the update to your claim within another 7-10 business days. What many claimants don't realize is that you can request an expedited processing of your appeal decision if you're facing financial hardship. Call the Appeals Division (not the regular EDD line) and specifically request a "post-appeal expedited processing" due to financial hardship. They'll ask for specifics about your situation, so be prepared to explain your financial circumstances. Once your online portal updates, you'll be able to certify for all weeks dating back to the period covered by your appeal. It will appear as multiple certification weeks all at once.

I had no idea about the expedited processing! I'm definitely facing financial hardship - rent is due next week and I literally don't have it. I'll call the Appeals Division first thing tomorrow morning. Thank you so much for this information!

Try contacting your state assembly member's office! After waiting 3 weeks post-appeal with no updates, I reached out to my assembly member's constituent services and they contacted EDD on my behalf. My UI Online updated within 48 hours after they got involved. Their offices have special EDD liaisons that can expedite these things when the system is dragging.

this is SUCH a good tip!!! my neighbor did this last year when her disability claim was stuck and it worked like magic! politicians office people have special contacts at all these agencies

THE SYSTEM IS DELIBERATELY DESIGNED TO MAKE US GIVE UP!!! They hope if they delay long enough after appeals that people will just stop trying to get what they're legally owed!! I won my appeal in FEBRUARY and had to call 37 TIMES before someone finally updated my account. Then they had the nerve to tell me I should have called sooner!!! WHAT A JOKE! The whole department needs to be investigated!

While I understand your frustration, the delay isn't actually deliberate. It's a combination of outdated computer systems, understaffing, and poor communication between the Appeals Division and the regular EDD offices. The appeals decisions are tracked in one system while the UI Online portal is managed in another, and the integration between them requires manual intervention. That's why calling can help - it prompts someone to actually process the update.

Just checking back - has your UI Online updated yet? If not, I'd definitely recommend trying Claimyr to get through to EDD. I was in the same position as you and after a week of failed call attempts, I used their service and got connected to a specialist who manually updated my account while I was on the phone with them. Their website claimyr.com shows exactly how it works in their video. What's nice is they stay on the line until you're actually connected to an agent who can help.

No updates yet 😞 I tried calling the Appeals Division yesterday but couldn't get through - just kept getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and then it hung up on me. I might try Claimyr if I can't get through tomorrow. Thanks for checking back!

I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - won my appeal 6 days ago and still waiting for UI Online to update. Reading through everyone's experiences here is really helpful! I'm planning to give it the full 14 business days that @Mateo Rodriguez mentioned before calling the Appeals Division. In the meantime, I'm also going to look into contacting my assembly member's office like @Ethan Wilson suggested - that seems like it could really speed things up. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines and strategies, it's reassuring to know this delay is normal even though it's super stressful when you're broke and waiting!

Welcome to the waiting game club! 😅 It's crazy how many of us are going through the exact same thing. I'm on day 8 since getting my appeal decision letter and my portal still shows nothing. The assembly member tip from @Ethan Wilson is brilliant - I never would have thought of that! I m'also bookmarking that Claimyr link that @Luca Esposito shared since it seems like actually getting through to EDD on the phone is nearly impossible otherwise. Fingers crossed both our accounts update soon! At least we know we re not'alone in this frustrating process.

I went through this exact same nightmare last year! Won my appeal in November and it took 12 business days for UI Online to finally update. What helped me was calling the regular EDD number (1-800-300-5616) first thing in the morning at exactly 8:00 AM - I had better luck getting through early. When I finally got connected, the agent was able to see that my appeal decision was in their system but hadn't been processed to update my online account yet. She manually triggered the update while I was on the phone and told me to check back in 24-48 hours. Sure enough, two days later all my back weeks showed up for certification and I was able to get caught up on payments. Don't lose hope - your money is coming, the system is just painfully slow at connecting the dots between departments!
