How long after winning TWC appeal before payment shows up?
I finally won my appeal for unemployment benefits! The hearing officer reversed the previous determination that disqualified me. Got the decision letter yesterday, but nothing has changed on the TWC website yet. My claim still shows as 'disqualified' and no payment is processing. For anyone who's gone through this before, how long does TWC typically take to update their system after an appeal is successful? And then how much longer until they actually process the payment? I'm getting really anxious because rent is due next week and I've been counting on this backpay ($4,200 for 7 weeks). Thanks for any insight!

•Thanks for the response! 10 days feels like forever when you're watching your bank account, but at least that gives me some timeframe to work with.

It usually takes 7-10 business days for TWC to process reversed determinations in their system. Once that happens, you should see your claim status update from disqualified to eligible. The payment release typically happens within 2-3 business days after that system update. Make sure you've been submitting your biweekly payment requests even while disqualified - if you missed any, you'll need to request backdated payment requests through the Telecenter. Also check your correspondence inbox for any additional paperwork they might need from you.

•Thank you! Yes, I've been diligently submitting my payment requests every two weeks even while disqualified. That's good to know about the timing. I'll keep an eye on my correspondence inbox in case they need anything else.

My experience was completely different! After my appeal was successful, it took almost 3 WEEKS for the system to update and another week for payment. TWC told me there was a 'processing backlog' whatever that means. I had to call them repeatedly to get any movement on my claim. The appeal reversal has to go through several departments before it actually results in payment. So frustrating!

•Oh no, that's what I'm afraid of! I really can't wait 3-4 weeks. Did you do anything specific that finally got them to process it faster?

•I had to call literally every day for a week straight. Most times I couldn't even get through, but when I finally did, they put some kind of priority flag on my account. Payment showed up 2 days later.

I went through this exact situation in January. Their system takes about 1-2 weeks to process appeal reversals, but here's what I discovered: calling them can expedite the process. However, good luck getting through their phone lines! I tried for days and just kept getting busy signals or disconnected after waiting on hold. I finally found this service called Claimyr that got me connected to a TWC agent within 20 minutes. Cost me a bit, but totally worth it to get my backpay processed faster. The agent was able to manually update my claim status once I explained the situation. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh After I spoke with someone, my payment was processed within 48 hours. Maybe worth considering if your rent is due soon.

•I've used Claimyr too. Better than spending hours redialing TWC's number just to get a busy signal. Just make sure when you get through that you specifically mention the appeal has been decided in your favor and ask if they can expedite the payment processing. Some agents will do it, some will say they can't.

•Thank you both! I'm going to try calling normally tomorrow morning, but if I can't get through, I'll definitely look into this. Anything to avoid late rent fees at this point.

Wait, stupid question maybe, but have you been requesting payment every two weeks even though you were disqualified? Because if you haven't been doing that, you might have to call and request backdated payment requests. I made that mistake and it added another 3 weeks to my timeline.

•Not a stupid question! Yes, I've been submitting payment requests every two weeks. My appeal examiner actually reminded me to keep doing that regardless of the disqualification status.

•Good! You're ahead of where I was then. Just making sure because nobody told me to keep requesting payments during my appeal process.

This happened to me earlier this year. After my appeal hearing the officer said I'd won but it took forever to see any money!! The whole system is designed to make us give up honestly. I had to borrow money from family to cover rent while waiting. Took about 2 weeks total but felt like 2 years. I called and called and finally got someone who said "oh I see the issue" and fixed it right there. Then money showed up next day. The squeaky wheel gets the grease with TWC!!!!

•You're probably right about the squeaky wheel! I'm definitely going to start calling tomorrow. I don't have family I can borrow from so I really need this backpay ASAP.

One more important thing - when your account does update, double-check the payment amount carefully. Sometimes when backpay is processed after an appeal, they might miss a week or calculate the amount incorrectly. If you notice any discrepancies, contact TWC immediately. It's much easier to fix payment issues before they're finalized than trying to correct them afterward.

•That's excellent advice, thank you! I'll definitely double-check all the math when it comes through.

I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - won my appeal last week but still waiting for the system to update. From what I'm reading here, it sounds like the timeline varies a lot depending on how backed up they are. Have you tried checking if there's a direct phone number for the appeals department? Sometimes they can give you a more specific timeline than the general customer service line. Also, make sure you have your appeal decision letter handy when you call - they'll probably ask for the date and decision number. Good luck with getting your backpay processed quickly!

•Thanks for the advice! I haven't tried looking for a direct appeals department number yet - that's a great idea. I'll search for that tomorrow before trying the main line. And yes, I have my decision letter ready with all the details. It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one going through this right now. Hopefully we both get our payments processed soon!

Congratulations on winning your appeal! I went through this exact same thing about 6 months ago. In my case, it took exactly 8 business days for the system to update my claim status from disqualified to eligible, and then another 3 days for the payment to hit my account. The key thing that helped speed it up was calling TWC on day 5 and speaking to someone who could see that my appeal had been processed but just needed a manual push to update the system. One tip: when you call, ask them to check if there are any "holds" on your account that might be preventing the automatic processing. Sometimes there are random flags that need to be cleared even after a successful appeal. Also, since your rent is due next week, you might want to reach out to your landlord now to let them know payment is coming but might be a few days late - most landlords are understanding if you communicate proactively. Keep checking your account daily and don't hesitate to call if nothing changes by Friday. You've got this!

•This is really helpful, thank you! I like the idea of proactively reaching out to my landlord - that's definitely better than waiting until the last minute. I'll call them today to give them a heads up. The tip about checking for "holds" on the account is something I hadn't thought of either. I'm going to try calling TWC tomorrow (day 3 for me) and specifically ask about any holds or flags. Really appreciate the detailed timeline from your experience - 8 + 3 days would put me right around when rent is due, so that would work out perfectly.

I'm in a similar boat - won my appeal 2 weeks ago and still waiting for payment! The TWC system is so slow it's maddening. What I've learned from calling multiple times is that appeal reversals go through a different processing queue than regular claims, which is why it takes longer. They told me 10-15 business days is "normal" but some take up to 20 days depending on workload. I've been calling every few days to check status and the last agent I spoke to said mine should process "any day now" - we'll see! One thing that might help is if you have your appeal hearing recording or transcript, sometimes referencing specific details from that can help the agent locate your case faster in their system. Hang in there, the money will come through eventually!

•Two weeks and still waiting? That's so frustrating! I'm only on day 2 and already getting anxious. The different processing queue for appeals makes sense though - explains why the timelines are all over the place. Thanks for the tip about referencing details from the hearing, I'll definitely try that when I call. Hopefully "any day now" actually means any day now for you! Keep us posted when yours finally comes through.

I just went through this same process last month and wanted to share what worked for me. After winning my appeal, I waited about a week with no system updates, then started calling TWC daily around 8am when they open - that seems to be the best time to actually get through. On my 4th call attempt, I reached an agent who explained that appeal reversals require manual processing by a supervisor, which is why they take longer than regular claims. She was able to see my case was approved but sitting in a queue waiting for supervisor review. She escalated it as "urgent financial hardship" when I explained my situation, and my payment processed within 2 days after that call. The key is being persistent but polite, and specifically asking if they can escalate due to financial hardship. Also, make sure they have your correct direct deposit info on file - sometimes appeal processing can reset those details. Don't give up, the money will come through!

•This is exactly the kind of detailed advice I was hoping for! The 8am calling strategy makes total sense - I bet that's when the phone lines are least busy. I love that you were able to get it escalated as "urgent financial hardship" - I definitely qualify for that given my rent situation. I'm going to start calling first thing tomorrow morning and will specifically ask about supervisor review and escalation options. Thanks for mentioning the direct deposit info too - I'll double-check that's still correct in my account. Your experience gives me hope that persistence really does pay off with TWC!

I went through this exact same situation about 4 months ago - the waiting is absolutely nerve-wracking when you're counting on that backpay! In my case, it took about 12 business days for the system to update after my successful appeal, then another 4 days for the actual payment to hit my account. What really helped was calling TWC around day 7 and asking them to put a "priority review" flag on my case since I had urgent bills due. The agent was able to see that everything was approved but just sitting in their appeals processing queue. She moved it to expedited review and boom - payment came through 3 days later. My advice would be to start calling by Thursday if you don't see any system updates by then. Be sure to mention your rent deadline and ask specifically about expedited processing for financial hardship cases. Also, screenshot your current account status daily so you can reference exactly what you're seeing when you call. The $4,200 backpay is definitely worth the persistence - don't let them slow-walk your approved claim! Keep us posted on how it goes.

•This is super helpful, thank you! 12 + 4 days would actually work out perfectly for my timeline. I really like your suggestion about screenshotting my account status daily - that's smart to have documentation of exactly what I'm seeing when I call. The "priority review" flag sounds like exactly what I need to ask for. I'm definitely going to start calling Thursday if nothing changes by then, and I'll specifically mention the rent deadline and ask about expedited processing for financial hardship. It's encouraging to hear that the persistence really does work with TWC - sometimes it feels like they're hoping we'll just give up! I'll definitely keep everyone posted on how it goes. Thanks again for the detailed timeline and strategy!

I'm going through this right now too! Won my appeal 5 days ago and still no movement on the website - everything still shows disqualified. Reading through everyone's experiences here, it sounds like 7-14 business days is pretty typical, but the variability is so stressful when you're waiting on money you desperately need. I'm planning to start calling tomorrow (day 6) based on what others have shared about the 8am strategy and asking for expedited processing due to financial hardship. Has anyone had luck getting through to the appeals department directly instead of general customer service? I'm wondering if they might have more specific info about timeline since they handle the reversals. Fingers crossed for both of us @Liam Brown - this waiting game is brutal!
