TWC appeal win - how long for direct deposit after filing backweeks?

Finally some good news! After fighting for nearly 3 months, I just won my appeal hearing yesterday (so relieved!). The TWC examiner called this morning and helped me file for my backweeks - I had about 6 weeks that were on hold during the appeal process. She said everything was approved and I'm eligible for payments now, but didn't mention WHEN I'll actually see the money hit my account. I'm set up for direct deposit and really need this money ASAP for rent. For anyone who's been through this before, how long does it typically take for TWC to process the payment after winning an appeal and completing backweek filing? This is my first time dealing with unemployment and I'm completely lost on the timeline. Thanks in advance for any help!

Congrats on winning your appeal! When I won mine last year, it took about 3-4 business days for the money to hit my account after filing backweeks. TWC is usually pretty quick with direct deposit once everything's approved. You can check your payment status on the TWC portal under the "Payment Information" section - it'll show when the payment was processed and the date it should hit your account.

Thank you! That's a relief to hear it's usually that quick. I'll keep checking the payment portal. Is there any way to see if they've actually started processing it yet? The portal still shows my claim as 'Appeal Approved' but doesn't show anything about payments being processed.

DONT COUNT ON IT BEING FAST!!! My appeal took 8 DAYS to actually process and another 3 for the $$ to show up. The TWC website kept saying "payment processing" for a whole week with no updates. Every single person I talked to gave me different info. One said 2 days, one said up to 10 days. The whole system is a JOKE!

This ^ What they TELL you and what ACTUALLY happens are two different things. My appeal took 6 days to process + 2 days for direct deposit. Just keep checking the payment status page every morning.

congrats! mine took like 2 days last month but my friend waited almost 2 weeks so i think it just depends

Wow, that's quite a range! Did your friend have to call TWC when it took that long, or did the money just eventually show up?

I went through this exact situation in March. Here's what you need to know about post-appeal payments: 1. After winning an appeal, TWC typically releases funds within 3-5 business days for direct deposit 2. Backweek payments are generally processed as a lump sum 3. You should see a status change in your payment history from "Appeal" to "Processed" to "Paid" 4. The system updates overnight, so check each morning If you don't see movement in your payment status within 5 business days, call TWC. Their standard post-appeal processing time shouldn't exceed one week unless there are additional issues with your claim. Make sure you've completed all work search requirements for those backweeks - that's the #1 reason for delays after appeals.

Thank you for the detailed timeline! The examiner did confirm all my work searches were accepted when we filed the backweeks, so hopefully that won't cause any delays. I'll keep an eye on the status changes you mentioned.

I had something similar happen but my appeal was for overpayment not initial eligibility so maybe its different? It took about a week for me to get paid after winning my appeal hearing but I think that was because it was right around New Years

Overpayment appeals and eligibility appeals do follow slightly different processing paths in the TWC system. Eligibility appeals often process a bit faster when approved because they're prioritized for initial payment.

If you need to contact TWC about the status but can't get through on their regular line (which happens ALL THE TIME), I recommend using Claimyr. I was in the same boat last month - won my appeal but then couldn't get any updates on payment status. I kept getting busy signals for 3 days straight. Someone here recommended Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it actually got me through to a TWC agent in about 15 minutes. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh The agent was able to see that my payment was stuck in processing and fixed it while I was on the phone. Money hit my account the next day!

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying the regular number all morning with no luck. I'll check this out if I don't see any updates by tomorrow.

I used this too! Only way I finally got someone to fix my claim after my appeal. The regular TWC number is USELESS.

Mine took about 4 business days after my appeal hearing, but that was a few months ago. I've heard TWC is processing faster now. One thing to know: if your backweek amount is over $5000, they sometimes split it into multiple payments for security reasons. So don't panic if you only see part of your expected amount at first.

That's really good to know! My backpay should be around $6,200 so I might see it split up. Appreciate the heads up so I don't freak out if that happens.

Quick update question - has your payment status changed in the system yet? Sometimes the TWC portal will show a payment date before you actually receive the money, which can help you plan. Also, make sure your direct deposit information is correct in the system - I've seen cases where people won appeals but had outdated banking info.

Good reminder! I just double-checked my direct deposit info and it's correct. Still no payment date showing yet, but the portal now says "Payment Processing" instead of just "Appeal Approved" so I guess that's progress? I'll keep checking it throughout the day.
