SDI keeps connecting me to wrong department (EU unemployment). How to reach SDI for medical certification status?
I've been trying to get information about my SDI status and check if my medical certification was received from my doctor. I keep getting connected to the wrong department (EU unemployment benefits) instead of SDI benefits. The call keeps dropping or connecting to the wrong line. I've tried multiple times and specified I needed to speak with an SDI benefits representative for a medical certification update. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to actually reach the right department?

Ugh, I feel your pain! The EDD system is a total nightmare. I've been trying to get through to them for weeks about my SDI claim. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to talk to a real person. Have you tried calling right when they open? I've heard that sometimes works.

ā¢Calling when they open is hit or miss. I tried that for a week straight and still got nowhere. Its like playing the lottery š°

ā¢I had better luck calling later in the day, around 3 PM. Less people trying to get through then.

ā¢Thanks for the suggestions! I'll give both a try and see if I can finally get through to the right department.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

ā¢20 bucks? Thats highway robbery! The government should make it easier to reach them without having to pay extra š¤

ā¢I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything. It's legit and saved me so much time and frustration.

ā¢Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

ā¢Sure! You choose the department you need on their website, pay the fee, and they start calling for you. When they get a real person, they connect the call to your phone. They don't guarantee success, but they give you more attempts if it doesn't work the first time.

Have you tried faxing your medical certification directly to the SDI office? Sometimes that's faster than waiting for the doctor to send it. Also, double-check that your doctor actually sent it - mine said they did, but turns out they forgot š

The whole system is broken af. I've been dealing with this nonsense for months now. Can't get through on the phone, online portal is always "under maintenance," and when I finally do talk to someone, they give me conflicting information. I'm about ready to give up š«

ā¢Don't give up! I know it's frustrating, but keep pushing. Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? They can sometimes help cut through the red tape.

ā¢Thanks for the encouragement. I'll look into contacting my assembly member. At this point, I'm willing to try anything!

Here's what I've learned after dealing with SDI for the past 6 months: ⢠Always get a confirmation number when your doctor submits anything ⢠Keep a log of every call you make, including date, time, and who you spoke to ⢠Use the online portal to submit questions - sometimes they respond faster that way ⢠If you fax anything, always follow up with a phone call to confirm they received it ⢠Be persistent! Don't let them brush you off Hope this helps someone else navigate this mess. Good luck!

ā¢This is super helpful, thank you! I'll definitely start keeping better records of my interactions with them.

ā¢Great advice! I'd add: take screenshots of everything you submit online. The system has been known to "lose" information.

Plot twist: what if the EU unemployment department is actually a front for a secret government program and we're all unwitting test subjects? šµļøāāļøš½ #ConspiracyTheories

ā¢Lol, at this point I'd believe anything. Maybe aliens are running EDD š½šø

Has anyone else noticed that the SDI website is always down for "scheduled maintenance" exactly when you need to submit something important? It's like they're trolling us on purpose š¤”

ā¢omg yes! I swear they do it on purpose. Like, why is it always down on weekends when people actually have time to deal with this stuff? š

ā¢Pro tip: try accessing the site using your phone's data instead of wifi. Sometimes it works when the regular site says it's down. No idea why, but it's saved me a few times!

I've been in the same boat, getting bounced around departments like a pinball. What finally worked for me was selecting the Spanish language option, then asking for an English speaker when I got through. Way shorter wait times!

ā¢Isn't that kinda unethical tho? What if you're taking a spot from someone who actually needs the Spanish line?

ā¢I get where you're coming from, but after months of not being able to get through, I was desperate. The system is broken for everyone, regardless of language.

Anyone else feel like they need a PhD in bureaucracy just to navigate the SDI system? I swear, half the battle is just learning their weird jargon and processes. Why can't they make this stuff more user-friendly? š¤
