SDI status update: Medical certification received? Can't get through on phone!

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get an update on my SDI status. I need to know if they received my medical certification from my doctor. I've been trying to call but keep getting routed to the wrong department or disconnected. Anyone have any tips on how to get through to the right person?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The SDI phone system is a nightmare. I spent hours trying to get through last week. Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that works better.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

Early morning calls are hit or miss tbh. I've had better luck calling around 2pm. Less traffic then.

Good point! I guess it really depends on the day. SDI phone roulette lol 🎰

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before you can get through on the phone.

I did check online, but it just says 'pending' with no other info. Thats why I'm trying to call and get more details.

Classic SDI move. Leave us hanging with no real information 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? How long did you have to wait?

It really does work! I was skeptical too, but I got through in about 45 minutes. Way better than spending hours redialing myself.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. The system is so broken that we have to pay extra just to talk to someone? smh

I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get answers. Time is money, ya know? 🤷‍♂️

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling your local SDI office directly. They're usually less swamped and can sometimes help with status updates.

Heres what I've learned from dealing with SDI for the past 6 months: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if you get disconnected. 2. Document everything. Write down who you talked to, when, and what they said. 3. Check your online account daily for updates. 4. If your doctor sent the certification electronically, it should be processed faster. If they mailed it, it could take weeks. 5. Don't be afraid to escalate to a supervisor if you're not getting answers. 6. Consider reaching out to your state representative's office if you're really stuck. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but you'll get through it eventually!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records of my calls. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience 🙏

This should be pinned to the top of the sub tbh. So helpful!

have u tried faxing them? I know it sounds old school but sometimes it works when the phones are jammed

Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But seriously, I'll try anything at this point. Do you know the fax number?

0 coins

lol i know right? But don't knock it till you try it! The fax number should be on their website under 'contact us

Im in the same boat. been waiting on my medical certification to be processed for weeks. This whole system is a joke. We pay into it our whole working lives and then when we need it, we cant even get basic info. Makes me so angry 😠

Preach! 🙌 The system is totally broken. We need to demand better from our government.

Hey OP, when did your doctor submit the certification? If it's been more than 10 business days, you might want to have them resend it. Sometimes they get lost in the system.

It's been about 2 weeks now. I'll call my doc tomorrow and see if they can resend it. Thanks for the heads up!

Plot twist: the SDI office is actually run by a bunch of hamsters on wheels. That's why nothing ever gets done 🐹🐹🐹

LOL that would explain so much 😂

Hey now, don't insult hamsters like that. They're way more efficient!
