EDD Nightmare: Connected to SDI instead of PFL, need help reaching correct department for claim status

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with EDD. I called and got connected to the wrong department (SDI) when I needed to speak with PFL. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm trying to follow up on my claim status but keep getting the runaround. Any advice on how to reach the right people?

Ugh, classic EDD mess. I swear they make it impossible to reach the right person on purpose. Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that works for me.

Tried that. No luck. Its like playing the lottery, except you never win 🤡

I heard Tuesdays are better for some reason. Less busy maybe?

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll give it a shot. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get the skepticism, but after spending hours on hold, it was worth it for me. Saved me a ton of time and stress.

How long did it take for them to actually connect you?

0 coins

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

Pro tip: If you get the wrong department, ask them to transfer you directly instead of hanging up and calling again. Sometimes they can do an internal transfer that bypasses the main queue.

I feel your pain, OP. The EDD system is a total dumpster fire rn. I've been trying to sort out my claim for MONTHS. It's like they're playing hot potato with our lives 😤

Same boat here. Its ridiculous how broken the system is. We need to organize and demand better!

Yall should contact your state representatives. Sometimes they can light a fire under EDD's a**

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for way too long: 1. Be persistent. Call multiple times if needed. 2. Keep a log of who you talk to and when. 3. Have all your info ready before you call (claim number, dates, etc.) 4. If you get someone unhelpful, politely end the call and try again. 5. Use the online portal to send messages too, sometimes they respond faster there. 6. If all else fails, contact your local assemblymember or state senator. They can often help push things through. Hope this helps! Don't give up, eventually you'll get through to someone who can actually assist you.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try these steps. Really appreciate you taking the time to write all this out 💯

This should be pinned at the top of the subreddit tbh

have u tried the online chat? sometimes its easier to get help there

I didn't even know they had an online chat! I'll look into that, thanks!

Online chat is hit or miss. I've had some good experiences and some where they just copy/paste useless info 🙄

Bruh, EDD is straight up playing games with us. I swear they got a dartboard with department names and just transfer you to wherever it lands 🎯🤣

LMAO accurate af 💀

Quick question - when did you file your claim? There's been a backlog lately due to the new system rollout.

I filed about 3 weeks ago. Didn't realize there was a new system, that explains a lot!

Ah yeah, you're right in the thick of it. Hang in there, it should start moving soon. Keep bugging them tho!
