EDD PFL claim mistake: Wrong start date overlapping with disability. How to actually reach a human?

I've been trying to get through to EDD for days now to fix a mistake on my PFL claim. I accidentally put the wrong start date and now it's overlapping with my disability claim. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to actually reach a human being there?

I found a way to solve EDD claim date correction issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6VbZAod6FI

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been in the same boat trying to reach EDD for weeks. It's like they don't want us to talk to them šŸ™„

fr tho. its like they purposely make it impossible to get through 🤬

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried that. No luck. It's either busy signals or getting disconnected after being on hold for hours. 😩

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get the skepticism, but honestly, after wasting days trying to get through, it was worth every penny. Saved me so much time and frustration.

How long did it take for them to actually connect you with someone?

It took about an hour and a half, but I didn't have to do anything. The service called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than being stuck to my phone all day.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for the past few months: • Call exactly at 8:00 AM when they open • Use the 2511 number, not the 5616 one • If you get through the menu, stay on hold no matter what • Be super nice to the rep, they deal with angry people all day • Have all your info ready before you call • If one rep can't help, politely ask to be transferred Hope this helps someone! It's a frustrating process but don't give up!

This is gold šŸ’Æ Thanks for sharing your experience!

What's the difference between the two numbers? I've only been using 5616

The 2511 number has more reps available usually. It's hit or miss, but I've had better luck with it.

I'm telling you, the whole system is rigged. They make it impossible to get help on purpose. Wake up sheeple! šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Calm down, Alex Jones. It's just an underfunded government agency, not a conspiracy šŸ™„

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push your case through.

This! šŸ‘† My assemblyman's office was super helpful when I was stuck in EDD limbo.

Anyone else notice that the hold music is always some weird jazz? Like, are they trying to put us to sleep or what? šŸ˜“šŸŽ·

I've been dealing with the same overlapping claims issue! What worked for me was calling the 1-877-238-4373 number (the PFL-specific line) rather than the general disability number. I called at exactly 8:01 AM on a Tuesday and got through after about 45 minutes on hold. The rep was able to fix my start date issue right on the spot. Also, make sure you have your confirmation numbers for both claims ready - they'll need those to sort out the overlap. Don't give up, it's definitely fixable once you get someone on the line!

Thank you so much for sharing the specific PFL number! I've been calling the wrong line this whole time. Quick question - did you have to go through the automated menu or did you get straight to hold? I'm dreading having to navigate through all those prompts again šŸ˜…

@cb53ba43b0d6 This is exactly what I needed to hear! I've been calling the general number like an idiot. Did they ask for any specific documentation when you called, or just the confirmation numbers? I want to make sure I have everything ready before I try calling tomorrow morning.

@cb53ba43b0d6 You're a lifesaver! I had no idea there was a PFL-specific line. I've been banging my head against the wall calling the main disability number for weeks. Just to confirm - when you say 8:01 AM, is that Pacific time? And did you have to press any specific options to get to a human, or does that number go straight to the queue? Really appreciate you sharing what actually worked!

@cb53ba43b0d6 This is so helpful! I'm in the exact same situation with overlapping dates. One more question - after they fixed your start date, did it automatically resolve the overlap issue or did you have to do anything else? I'm worried there might be additional steps I need to take once I finally get through to someone. Also, did the rep mention anything about potential delays in processing after making the correction?

@cb53ba43b0d6 Wow, this is incredibly helpful! I've been struggling with the same exact issue for weeks. Just tried calling that PFL number and actually got through to the queue on my first try - currently on hold now! Quick question: when they fixed your start date, did you need to resubmit any paperwork or did they handle everything on their end? I'm hoping once I get connected they can sort this whole mess out in one call. Fingers crossed! šŸ¤ž

@cb53ba43b0d6 This is amazing advice! I've been calling the wrong number for two weeks straight. Just wanted to add for anyone else reading - I tried calling that PFL line yesterday around 8:15 AM and got through after about 30 minutes. The key thing the rep told me is to have your Social Security number, both claim confirmation numbers, and the CORRECT dates you want to use ready before they pick up. They can fix it in like 5 minutes once they have all the info. Also, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings seem to be the best times to call. Thanks for sharing this - you probably just saved me weeks of frustration! šŸ™

I had the exact same issue with overlapping dates between my PFL and disability claims! It was such a nightmare trying to get it sorted out. What finally worked for me was being super persistent with the callbacks - I called every single day at 8 AM sharp until I got through. When I finally reached someone, they were actually really helpful and fixed it within 10 minutes once they understood the situation. The key is having all your documentation ready: both confirmation numbers, your correct start/end dates written down, and your social security number. Also, be really clear about which claim needs the date correction when you're explaining the issue. It's frustrating but definitely fixable! Don't let them transfer you around - insist that the first person you talk to handles it or connects you directly to someone who can. Good luck! šŸ™

@9483465e0d1d Thank you for this! The part about being persistent with daily calls is so true - I think consistency is key with EDD. Quick question: when you say "don't let them transfer you around," did you run into issues with reps trying to pass you off to different departments? I'm worried about getting bounced around once I finally get through to someone. Also, did they give you any kind of confirmation or reference number after they made the correction? Just want to make sure I know what to ask for when I finally reach them.
