CA EDD PFL: Got call from wrong dept (SDI), need to update info. Help!

I filed for California EDD Paid Family Leave but got a call from the SDI department instead. Now I need to update my PFL info but can't get through to the right department. Has anyone else had this issue? Any tips on how to reach the correct PFL line?

I found a way to solve EDD PFL department contact issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Rl-Us6Rqc

Ugh, classic EDD mixup. I swear they do this on purpose to confuse us. Have you tried calling the PFL line directly? Sometimes you gotta be persistent and keep calling.

Yeah, I've been trying for days. It's either busy or I'm on hold forever. So frustrating!

Keep at it! Maybe try calling right when they open? Thats how I finally got through last time.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it IMO.

Interesting. How long did it take for them to get through?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

Here's what you need to do to update your PFL info: 1. Call the PFL customer service number: 1-877-238-4373 2. Best times to call are early morning or late afternoon 3. Have your claim number ready 4. Be prepared to explain the mixup with SDI 5. Ask for a supervisor if the rep can't help If all else fails, you can try submitting a written request for update. Send it via certified mail to: Paid Family Leave P.O. Box 989315 West Sacramento, CA 95798-9315 Good luck!

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help cut through the red tape.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find my assembly member?

Just google 'Find my California assembly member' and enter your address. They usually have a 'Contact Us' form for constituent services.

Ive been dealing with EDD for months now. heres a pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. You never know when youll need that info.

This 👆 Cannot stress this enough. EDD lost my paperwork twice and I had to resubmit everything.

I went through the exact same thing last month! Got transferred between SDI and PFL like 5 times before someone finally helped me. Here's what worked: when you call the PFL line, immediately press 0 to try to get to a human instead of going through the automated menu. If that doesn't work, try calling the main EDD number (1-800-300-5616) and specifically ask them to transfer you to PFL corrections department. Also, if you have any paperwork from your original PFL filing, have that ready - they'll need your case number and SSN to pull up your file. Don't give up, it's frustrating but you'll get through eventually!
