EDD PFL claim stuck in "Pending Processing" since 1/19 - Wrong dept callback & can't reach anyone online. Help!

I just had the most frustrating experience with EDD. I requested a callback for the PFL department and somehow got connected to Unemployment Insurance instead. Now I'm back to square one trying to get my PFL claim processed. It's been in "Pending Processing" status since mid-January, and I can't seem to get anyone online to help. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to actually reach the right department?

Ugh, classic EDD mixup. I swear they do this on purpose to make us give up. Have you tried calling right when they open? I've heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried that a few times. No luck so far. It's like they have one person answering phones for the whole state 🙄

Pro tip: call at 7:59am and start mashing buttons. Sometimes you can get in the queue before it fills up. Good luck!

I feel your pain. My claim has been pending for THREE MONTHS. It's ridiculous. I've called over 50 times and still haven't gotten through. This system is broken af.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? They sometimes have connections at EDD and can help push things through.

That's a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

Just google your address + 'assembly member'. They usually have a contact form on their website. Explain your situation and they might be able to help!

Thanks so much! I'll give that a shot.

Okay, I know this sounds crazy, but I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds like a scam. Why should we have to pay to talk to a government agency? 🤔

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate and decided to try it. Saved me hours of frustration. But yeah, it sucks we have to resort to this.

How long did it take for them to call you back?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than trying to call yourself all day.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for the past year: 1. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 2. Keep detailed records of every interaction. 3. Use the online portal to send messages - sometimes they respond faster there. 4. If all else fails, contact your state representative or senator. 5. Join Facebook groups for EDD claimants - they often have good tips. 6. Consider using a paid service like Claimyr if you're really stuck. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but don't give up!

This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much for taking the time to write all this out! 🙏

Great advice. I'd add: learn the phone tree by heart. Sometimes if you mash the right buttons fast enough, you can trick it into putting you through lol

Wow, really? That's so bizarre. But at this point, I'm willing to try anything. Do you know what fax number to use?

Plot twist: the unemployment department and PFL department are actually the same three people working different shifts. 🤣🤡

I'm in the same boat, been waiting since December. Starting to wonder if I should just give up and go back to work without the benefits. This is so stressful.

Don't give up! That's what they want. Keep fighting for what you're entitled to. We're all rooting for you! 💪

Has anyone tried showing up in person at an EDD office? I'm considering camping out overnight if that's what it takes to get this resolved.

I tried that last month. They just gave me a paper form and told me to mail it in. Total waste of time. 🙄
