SDI claim: Sent to wrong department, how to resolve?

I filed an SDI claim and got sent to the wrong department when I called. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get it resolved? I'm worried about delays in my claim processing.

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I swear they do this on purpose to make us give up. I've been bounced around departments so many times I've lost count. It's like playing phone tag with a government agency 🙄

Totally agree. Its like they're purposely trying to make it as difficult as possible. I've spent hours on hold only to get disconnected or transferred to the wrong place.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I've had better luck getting through to the right person early in the morning.

Yeah, I've tried that. Sometimes it works, but other times it's just as bad. The whole system needs an overhaul tbh

I actually found a method that works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get the skepticism, but for me it was worth it. Spent way more time and frustration trying to get through on my own. Just sharing what worked for me 🤷‍♂️

How long did you have to wait after using the service?

0 coins

It took about an hour, but I didn't have to actively wait on hold. They called me when an agent was on the line.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with SDI claims: 1. Always get the name and ID of who you're talking to 2. Keep a log of all your calls, including date, time, and what was discussed 3. If possible, try to get things in writing (email or mail) 4. Be persistent but polite 5. If you're not getting anywhere, ask to speak with a supervisor 6. Consider contacting your local state representative's office for help It's a frustrating process, but stay calm and keep pushing. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I wish I'd known all this when I first filed my claim. Took me months to figure it out the hard way.

Contacting my state rep was a game-changer for me. They have staff dedicated to helping with these issues.

lmao welcome to the wonderful world of government bureaucracy 🤡 where the rules are made up and your time doesn't matter

Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes you can get more info there without having to deal with the phone maze.

0 coins

Yeah, I've been checking online but it doesn't show much. Just says 'pending' with no other details 😕

I feel your pain, OP. I'm in the same boat. Filed my SDI claim 6 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything. The system is so broken.

0 coins

6 weeks? That's rough. I'm on week 4 of waiting and starting to get really worried about paying bills.

0 coins

Hang in there. I've heard some people waiting even longer. It's ridiculous how long they make us wait for benefits we've paid into.

Pro tip: if you can, fax your documents instead of mailing them. Seems to get processed faster in my experience.

Wait, people still use fax machines? 😂

Lol I know right? But for some reason government agencies are stuck in the 90s 🤷‍♀️
