SDI claim issues after Workers Comp - totally disabled but claim not processing. Help!

I'm having trouble with my SDI claim. I've been on workers comp for a permanent disability, and now I'm trying to transition to SDI. My doctor filled out the 2547D form stating I'm totally disabled, but I'm not sure if SDI is processing my claim correctly. I've sent in multiple extensions, but I'm still waiting for a resolution. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of situation? Any advice on how to speed up the process or make sure everything is being handled correctly?

I found a way to solve SDI claim processing delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vK6EaJ1QHC8

Ugh, dealing with SDI can be such a nightmare. I've been there, and it feels like you're just shouting into the void sometimes. Have you tried calling them directly? It might help to speak with someone and get a clear explanation of where your claim stands.

I've tried calling so many times, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever. šŸ˜« Any tips on the best time to call?

Honestly, there's no magic time. I've had luck calling right when they open, but it's still hit or miss. Keep trying tho, persistence is key with these guys!

Pro tip: use a call-back service. I used one called Claimyr and it was a game changer. Cost me $20 but saved hours of frustration.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Is it legit?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo. They even refund you if it doesn't work.

Can confirm, I used it last week and finally got my claim sorted. The peace of mind alone was worth the cost.

Have you considered reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They often have liaisons who can help navigate these bureaucratic nightmares. It's literally their job to help constituents with state agencies.

As someone who's been through the ringer with both WC and SDI, here's my advice: ā€¢ Keep meticulous records of EVERYTHING. Every call, every form, every doctor's visit. ā€¢ Send all important documents via certified mail so you have proof of receipt. ā€¢ Don't rely on your claims adjuster to do their job properly. Follow up regularly. ā€¢ If you're not getting anywhere, file a formal complaint with the DWC (for workers' comp) or EDD (for SDI). ā€¢ Consider hiring an attorney if things get really messy. Sometimes just having a lawyer send a letter can light a fire under them. Hang in there, OP. The system is broken, but you'll get through this!

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records. Do you have any recommendations for finding a good attorney who specializes in these cases?

Check with your state bar association. They usually have referral services for specialized attorneys. Also, many offer free consultations, so you can shop around a bit.

I'm in a similar boat, OP. Been fighting with SDI for months now. It's exhausting. Have you considered reaching out to a patient advocate? Some hospitals and clinics offer this service, and they can sometimes help navigate the system.

I hadn't even thought about patient advocates. That's a great idea, I'll look into it. Thanks!

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked all your paperwork? I once had a claim held up for weeks because I transposed two numbers on a form. It's annoying, but sometimes a tiny mistake can cause big delays.

SDI is the worst! I swear they make it difficult on purpose to discourage people from claiming. Solidarity, OP. Don't give up!

Hey, former EDD employee here. While I can't comment on your specific case, I can give some general advice: 1. Make sure all your medical documentation is up to date and clearly states your limitations. 2. If you haven't already, file for a SDI appeal. This can sometimes speed up the process. 3. Be persistent but polite when dealing with staff. We're overworked and understaffed, but we do want to help. 4. If you're really stuck, consider contacting your state representative. They can sometimes cut through red tape. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the insider perspective! I'll definitely look into filing an appeal. Do you know how long that process typically takes?

Appeal times can vary widely, but generally it takes about 30-60 days. However, sometimes just filing the appeal can prompt them to take another look at your case and resolve it faster.
