SDI account locked - Can't submit new FMLA claim due to old account link error
I'm having trouble accessing my SDI account to submit a new FMLA claim. When I try to register as a claimant, I get an error saying I'm already linked to an account according to my driver's license. This is true for my older claims, but I need to submit a new one for FMLA and bonding. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Ugh, I've been there. The SDI system is such a mess! Have you tried calling them directly? It might take forever, but sometimes talking to a real person is the only way to sort out these account issues.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. I've been on hold for hours and keep getting disconnected. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. I got through after only 30 minutes of waiting last week. Good luck! π

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Is it legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

20 bucks to actually talk to someone? Sign me up! The amount of time and stress it'll save is worth way more than that.

Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. What if they steal your info or something?

Nah, it's legit. They don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number to call you back. You still talk directly to EDD.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes that can help with weird account issues. Also, try using a different browser altogether. The SDI website can be finicky.

I had a similar issue last year. Turns out there was a glitch in their system that was causing problems for people with multiple claims. I ended up having to file a complaint with the state ombudsman to get it resolved. It took a while, but it eventually worked.

Wow, that sounds like a hassle. How long did the whole process take?

It took about 3 weeks from filing the complaint to getting it resolved. Not quick, but faster than trying to get through on the phone tbh.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Take screenshots of the error messages. 2. Try accessing your account from a different device (phone, tablet, etc.) 3. If that doesn't work, you'll need to contact SDI directly. Options: - Call their technical support line (different from main line) - Use the 'Contact Us' form on their website - Send a secure message through your online account (if you can access it) 4. Be persistent! Sometimes you have to try multiple times. 5. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can often help push things through. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed and these issues are common. Don't give up!

Thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try these steps. Do you happen to have the number for their technical support line?

Sure thing! The tech support number is 1-855-342-3645. They're open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Good luck!

This is great advice. I wish I had known all this when I was struggling with my claim last year. Saving this for future reference!

I'm in the same boat, trying to submit a new claim while having an old one on file. It's like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. The whole system needs an overhaul tbh.

Preach! π It's 2023, why is government software still stuck in the 90s?

Fr fr. My grandma could design a better system than this, and she still uses a flip phone π

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're keeping track of all your attempts to file and contact them. If your claim ends up being delayed because of these technical issues, you might be able to get back pay. Document everything!

That's a great point, thank you! I'll start keeping a log of everything.

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you're eligible for a new FMLA claim? Sometimes the system throws up weird errors if you're not actually eligible yet. Might be worth reviewing the requirements just to be sure.

Yeah, I've definitely checked. I'm eligible for both FMLA and SDI for bonding time with my newborn. But good looking out!
