PFL Delay After C-Section Disability: No Payment Received After Refiling with EDD
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I just had a c-section and was on disability for a while. Now that my disability has ended, I refiled for Paid Family Leave (PFL) but haven't received anything yet. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long did it take for you to get your PFL after refiling post-disability? Any tips on speeding up the process would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. It took about 3 weeks for my PFL to kick in after refiling. Have you tried calling the EDD? Their wait times are ridiculous, but it might be worth a shot if you're really worried.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Here's what I know about PFL after disability: ā¢ You should file for PFL within 41 days of your last day of disability ā¢ Make sure all your medical info is up to date ā¢ Double-check that you've worked enough hours in the past 18 months to qualify ā¢ If you haven't heard back in 2 weeks, definitely follow up ā¢ Sometimes they need additional info, so keep an eye on your mail/email Hope this helps! Have you checked your EDD account online? Sometimes they update info there before sending anything in the mail.

Not to be that person, but have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help speed things up with EDD.
