PFL Claim Issues: Only Got 2 Weeks But Eligible for More? Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my paid family leave claim. My disability claim just ended, but now I'm running into problems with the PFL. I was only given 2 weeks of paid family leave, but I'm pretty sure I'm eligible for more. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get this sorted out?

Ugh, dealing with PFL claims can be such a headache! I went through something similar last year. Have you tried calling the EDD directly? Sometimes talking to a rep can help clear things up.

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have better luck getting through!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Here's what you need to know about PFL in California: ⢠You're typically eligible for up to 8 weeks of PFL within any 12-month period ⢠PFL can be taken all at once or intermittently ⢠You need to have earned at least $300 in wages that were subject to SDI deductions ⢠There's a 7-day unpaid waiting period before benefits start ⢠You should receive about 60-70% of your weekly wages If you think you're eligible for more than 2 weeks, definitely follow up with EDD. Sometimes there are mix-ups with paperwork or system errors. Don't give up!

OMG I'm in the exact same boat! My disability just ended and now I'm trying to get PFL for bonding time with my baby. The whole system is so confusing š

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you filed everything correctly? I thought I was eligible for more time too, but turns out I messed up some paperwork š¤¦āāļø
