EDD payment timeline question - how many days from certification to direct deposit?
Quick question for those who've been on UI longer than me - I just certified for my third payment and I'm trying to plan my budget. How many days does it usually take for EDD to deposit the money after certification when using direct deposit? I know it can vary but just looking for what's typical. I certified on Sunday morning and now it's Tuesday. My UI Online account shows 'paid' status but nothing in my bank account yet. Is that normal? Do weekends count in the processing time?

For direct deposit, it typically takes 24-48 hours after your claim shows 'paid' in the system. So if you certified Sunday and it already shows paid on Tuesday, you should see it in your account by tomorrow morning at the latest. It's faster than the old Money Network card method. Weekends do slow things down slightly, but banking days are what matter most for direct deposit timing.

Thanks! That's good to know. I'll keep an eye out for it tomorrow morning then.

Yeah I've noticed the same pattern with mine too. Always seems to be 3 days no matter what.

It varies by bank too. I'm with Chase and get mine 1-2 days after it shows as 'paid' in the system. My roommate is with a credit union and gets it same day sometimes. The important thing is watching for the 'paid' status on UI Online - once it changes from pending to paid, the money is on the way. If it's been paid for more than 3 business days and you still don't see it, then there might be an issue with your bank info.

I'm with Wells Fargo - anyone else with Wells know how long it usually takes? My status just changed to paid yesterday evening.

My experience is 2-3 days after it says 'paid' but i've had it take up to 5 days once when there was a holiday. Depends on ur bank too i think

This is right - holidays mess up the timing. I once certified right before Presidents Day and it took forever.

If you're having trouble reaching EDD to check on your payment status, I recommend using Claimyr. I was stuck in a similar situation where my payment status was unclear, but I couldn't get through to anyone at EDD. Claimyr connected me with an EDD rep in about 15 minutes when I had been trying for days on my own. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km that shows how it works. Their website is claimyr.com - definitely worth it when you need answers right away about payment issues.

is that service actually legit? seems sketchy that u have to pay money just to talk to edd...

It's completely legit. They don't replace EDD, they just get you through to an actual EDD representative faster. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me days of frustration. You still talk directly to EDD reps - Claimyr just gets you past the busy signals and automated hangups.

I certify at exactly 12:01 am Sunday and always get paid by Tuesday afternoon with direct deposit. My sister waits until Sunday night to certify and doesn't see her money until Thursday usually. Maybe the time of day when you certify matters?

That's an interesting observation. There might be something to that theory. The certification system likely processes claims in batches, so being in an earlier batch could speed things up.

I certified around 10am Sunday, so I guess I'm somewhere in the middle! Next time I'll try right at midnight and see if it's faster.

Remember the payment timeline is: Certification → EDD processes (1-2 days) → Status changes to

wait why are u asking about first payment when ur title says its NOT ur first payment?? processing time is different for first payments vs regular ones u know

Sorry if that was confusing! I meant this isn't my first payment ever (I'm on my third payment), but I never paid attention to the exact timing before. I'm trying to figure out the normal processing time for regular payments.

I've been on UI for about 6 months now and in my experience, it's usually 2-3 business days after certification for direct deposit. The key thing to watch is when your status changes to "paid" in UI Online - that's when the clock really starts ticking. Since you certified Sunday and it's showing paid already, I'd expect to see it in your account by Thursday at the latest. My bank (Bank of America) typically gets EDD deposits in the early morning hours, so check first thing when you wake up!

•Thanks for the detailed breakdown! I'm also with Bank of America so that's really helpful to know they usually process EDD deposits early in the morning. I'll definitely be checking first thing tomorrow and Thursday. It's reassuring to hear from someone who's been through this process for 6 months - gives me a better sense of what to expect going forward.

Wells Fargo usually takes 2-3 business days in my experience. Since your status changed to paid yesterday evening, I'd expect to see it hit your account by Friday morning at the latest. Wells Fargo tends to process EDD deposits overnight, so check early in the morning. I've been with them for over a year on UI and they're pretty consistent with that timing. Just make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your UI Online profile - you can double-check under the "Payment Method" section.

•This is super helpful info about Wells Fargo timing! I'm glad to hear they're consistent - that makes budgeting so much easier when you can actually predict when the money will hit. I just double-checked my direct deposit info in the Payment Method section and everything looks correct. Fingers crossed I see it by Friday morning like you mentioned. It's such a relief to get advice from people who've been navigating this system longer than me!

I've been getting UI payments for about 4 months now and have Wells Fargo too. In my experience, once it shows "paid" status, it's usually 2-3 business days before it hits my account. Since yours changed to paid yesterday evening, I'd expect to see it Thursday night or Friday morning. Wells Fargo seems to process these overnight - I always check my account first thing in the morning and it's there. The timing has been pretty consistent for me, even during weeks with holidays it's rarely more than 3 business days once it shows paid.

•That's really reassuring to hear from another Wells Fargo customer! It sounds like they're pretty consistent across the board with that 2-3 business day timeline once it shows paid. I'm definitely going to start checking first thing in the morning like you mentioned - seems like that overnight processing window is when most banks handle these EDD deposits. Thanks for sharing your experience, especially about how even holidays don't usually push it past 3 business days. That gives me a lot more confidence in planning my budget around these payments going forward.

I've been collecting UI for about 8 months now and I can confirm what others are saying about the 2-3 day timeline once it shows "paid" status. One thing I learned early on is to screenshot your certification confirmation and the "paid" status change - it helps if you ever need to contact EDD about a delayed payment. Also, if you have mobile banking, set up push notifications for deposits. That way you'll know the moment it hits your account without having to constantly check. The longest I've ever waited after "paid" status was 4 business days, and that was during a week with a federal holiday. Wells Fargo is pretty reliable with EDD deposits in my experience.

•Great advice about taking screenshots and setting up push notifications! I wish I had thought of that earlier. I've been manually checking my account multiple times a day which is probably unnecessary stress. The screenshot tip is especially smart - I can see how that would be helpful if there are ever any issues with EDD. I'm definitely going to set up those mobile banking notifications right now. It's so helpful to hear from someone who's been navigating this for 8 months - gives me a lot more confidence about what to expect with the timing and process going forward.

I've been on UI for about 5 months now and use Chase for direct deposit. In my experience, once the status changes to "paid" in UI Online, it typically takes 2-3 business days to hit my Chase account. Since you certified Sunday and it already shows paid on Tuesday, you should definitely see it by Thursday or Friday morning. Chase usually processes EDD deposits overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday. One tip I learned - if you have the Chase mobile app, enable deposit notifications so you don't have to keep checking manually. The timing has been pretty consistent for me, even during holiday weeks it rarely takes more than 3 business days once it shows paid status.

•That's really helpful info about Chase's timing! I'm actually considering switching to Chase from my current bank because I've heard they're pretty reliable with direct deposits. The overnight processing window you mentioned sounds consistent with what others have said about different banks. Setting up those deposit notifications is such a smart idea - I've been obsessively checking my account multiple times a day which is probably just adding unnecessary stress to an already stressful situation. It's comforting to know that even with holidays, Chase keeps things within that 3 business day window once it shows paid. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I've been on UI for about 7 months now and can share what I've learned about payment timing. The general rule is 2-3 business days after your status changes to "paid" in UI Online, but it varies by bank. Since you certified Sunday and it's already showing paid on Tuesday, you're right on track. For Wells Fargo specifically, I've noticed they tend to process EDD deposits in the early morning hours (usually between 2-6 AM) on business days. So if your status changed to paid yesterday evening, I'd expect to see it hit your account Thursday morning. One thing that helped me manage the uncertainty was keeping a simple log of my certification dates and when payments actually arrived - after a few cycles you'll start to see your personal pattern. Also, just as a backup, make sure you still have access to your EDD debit card in case there's ever an issue with direct deposit. The timing becomes much more predictable once you've been through it a few times!

•This is such great advice about keeping a log! I'm definitely going to start tracking my certification dates and payment arrival times - that's really smart for budgeting purposes. The 2-6 AM processing window for Wells Fargo is super specific and helpful to know. I had no idea banks had such specific timeframes for these deposits. And you're absolutely right about keeping the EDD debit card as backup - I actually forgot I still had it until you mentioned it. It's reassuring to hear from someone who's been doing this for 7 months that the timing becomes more predictable. I'm looking forward to having that peace of mind once I establish my own pattern. Thanks for such detailed and practical advice!

I've been collecting UI for about 10 months now and wanted to share what I've learned about EDD payment timing since you're still figuring out the pattern. Once your status shows "paid" in UI Online, it's typically 2-3 business days for direct deposit, but the exact timing depends on your bank's processing schedule. Since you certified Sunday and it already shows paid on Tuesday, that's actually pretty fast processing on EDD's end. For Wells Fargo specifically, I've noticed they usually process EDD deposits in the early morning hours (around 3-5 AM) on weekdays. Given that your status changed to paid yesterday evening, I'd expect to see it in your account Thursday morning. One thing that really helped me was setting up account alerts through Wells Fargo's mobile app - you'll get notified the moment any deposit hits, so you don't have to keep checking manually. Also keep in mind that while weekends don't technically count as processing days, I've occasionally seen deposits hit on Saturday mornings if everything aligns just right. The key is that once you see "paid" status, the money is definitely on its way!

•Wow, 10 months of experience - that's incredibly valuable insight! The 3-5 AM processing window for Wells Fargo is so specific and helpful. I had no idea banks were that precise with their timing. Setting up those account alerts through the mobile app is brilliant - I've been driving myself crazy checking my account every few hours. It's really reassuring to hear that once it shows "paid" the money is definitely coming, even if the exact timing varies slightly. The Saturday morning deposit possibility is interesting too - I wouldn't have expected weekend processing at all. Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed advice from your 10 months of experience. It really helps newcomers like me feel more confident about what to expect!

I've been on UI for about 3 months now and use Bank of America for direct deposit. In my experience, once your status changes to "paid" in UI Online, it typically takes 1-2 business days to show up in my account. Bank of America seems to be pretty quick with EDD deposits compared to some other banks I've heard about. Since you certified Sunday and it's already showing paid on Tuesday, I'd expect to see it in your account by Wednesday night or Thursday morning at the latest. One thing I noticed is that BoA usually processes these deposits in the evening/overnight, so I typically see the money when I check in the morning. The timing has been very consistent for me - rarely takes more than 48 hours once it shows paid status. Just make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your UI Online account under the payment settings!
