EDD listed wrong employer address on UI claim letter. How to fix before interview?

Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my unemployment claim. The letter I got has the wrong address for my last employer. I worked for a company with multiple offices in California, and they listed the wrong location. I was hired through the Sacramento office, but the letter shows the Stockton address. I'm worried this might delay my payments. Has anyone dealt with something similar? What's the best way to get this fixed before my phone interview?

Ugh, classic EDD mess-up. 🙄 I had a similar issue last year. Call them ASAP and explain the situation. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho...

Hours? More like days lol. I swear the EDD phone system is designed to make us give up 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through in only 45 minutes last week!

Thanks for the advice! I'll try calling first thing tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's highway robbery! The EDD should be accessible for free!

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they give you a specific time for the callback?

@profile7 Yeah, so you choose when you want them to start calling. They keep trying until they get through, then call you when an agent picks up. Super convenient.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down the correct address and any other relevant info. 2. Call EDD immediately. Be polite but firm. 3. Explain the situation clearly and ask them to update your record. 4. Request a confirmation number or email for the change. 5. Follow up in writing. Send a letter or fax with the correct information. 6. If possible, get a letter from your employer confirming the correct address. 7. During your phone interview, mention this issue right away. 8. Keep checking your online account for any updates. Don't panic if it takes a few days for the change to show up in the system. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely follow these steps. Really appreciate it 💯

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and interactions with EDD. It might come in handy later.

Fr fr. We need to demand better from our government. This ain't it chief

Have you tried reaching out to your former employer? They might be able to contact EDD directly to correct the address. Worth a shot!

OP, whatever you do, DON'T miss that phone interview. Even if the address isn't fixed by then, make sure you're available. Missing it can really mess up your claim.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely make sure I'm available for the interview no matter what.

idk if this helps but I had a similar issue and I ended up contacting my local assembly member's office. They have liaisons who can sometimes cut through the red tape faster than we can on our own.

This! 👆 Assembly members can work miracles with EDD sometimes. Definitely worth a try if you hit a wall with regular channels.

I actually went through this exact same situation about 6 months ago! My employer had offices in both San Francisco and San Jose, and EDD mixed them up on my paperwork. Here's what worked for me: I called EDD first thing in the morning (around 8:01 AM) and got through after about an hour. The rep was super helpful and fixed it on the spot. She told me that address mix-ups are pretty common with multi-location employers and it's usually a quick fix once you get someone on the phone. Just make sure you have your employer's correct address, your hire date, and any employment verification documents ready. The change showed up in my online account within 24 hours. Don't stress too much - this won't delay your benefits as long as you get it sorted before your interview!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! This gives me a lot of hope. It's really reassuring to hear from someone who went through the exact same thing. I'm going to try calling first thing tomorrow morning with all my documents ready. Did you have to provide any specific paperwork from your employer, or was just having the correct address info enough?

@Eli Wang Just having the correct address was enough in my case! The rep didn't ask for any additional paperwork from my employer. I think because it's such a common issue with multi-location companies, they have a pretty streamlined process for fixing it. Just be ready to confirm your employment dates and maybe your supervisor's name if they ask. The key is getting through to someone who knows what they're doing - some reps are definitely more helpful than others!

I went through something similar last month! My company had offices in LA and Orange County, and EDD put down the wrong one. What really helped me was gathering all my employment docs beforehand - like my offer letter, first paystub, and even my employee handbook that showed the correct office address. When I finally got through to someone (took 3 tries over 2 days), having all that info ready made the call go super smooth. The rep updated it immediately and even gave me a confirmation number. Also, don't forget to double-check your UI Online account after they make the change - sometimes it takes a day or two to update in the system. You got this! 💪

This is super helpful! I never thought about gathering all those employment documents beforehand. That's such a smart approach - having everything ready definitely sounds like it would make the call go much smoother. I'm going to dig up my offer letter and first paystub tonight so I'm prepared. Thanks for the tip about the confirmation number too - I'll make sure to ask for that! Really appreciate you sharing your experience 🙏

I had this exact same problem a few months back! My employer had locations in both Fresno and Bakersfield, and they somehow got the wrong one on my claim. What saved me was calling right at 8:00 AM sharp - I actually set an alarm and started dialing the second they opened. Got through in about 30 minutes which felt like a miracle lol. The rep was really understanding about it and said these mix-ups happen all the time with companies that have multiple offices. She fixed it right there on the call and told me it would update in the system within 1-2 business days. Make sure you have your correct work address written down clearly and maybe your employee ID number if you have it. During my phone interview later that week, I mentioned the address correction right at the beginning just to be safe, and the interviewer noted it in my file. Everything went smoothly after that! Don't panic - this is totally fixable and shouldn't mess up your benefits timeline. 👍

This is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience. Setting an alarm for 8 AM sharp is such a good idea - I'm definitely doing that tomorrow. It's really reassuring to know that the reps understand this is a common issue and can fix it quickly. I'll make sure to have my employee ID ready along with the correct address info. Your tip about mentioning the correction at the start of the phone interview is brilliant too - I wouldn't have thought of that. Really appreciate you taking the time to share all these helpful details! 🙌

Hey James! I actually work for a company that helps people navigate EDD issues, and address mix-ups are super common - especially with multi-location employers. Here's my advice: First, try the online UI portal to see if there's an option to update employer info before calling. Sometimes you can submit corrections through the "Contact Us" feature without waiting on hold. If that doesn't work, definitely call early (8AM sharp like others mentioned), but here's a pro tip: have your W-2 or final paystub ready that shows the correct address. EDD reps can update it faster when they can verify the info against your tax documents. Also, if you worked remotely or split time between offices, make sure to clarify which location you were primarily assigned to - that's usually what matters for the claim. The good news is this type of correction rarely delays payments once it's fixed. You should be all set! Keep us posted on how it goes! 🤞
