EDD hung up after hours on hold - Disqualification nightmare. Help!

I was on hold with EDD for hours and then they just closed! Has anyone else experienced this? I'm trying to deal with a disqualification issue and it's so frustrating. Any advice on how to actually get through to someone?

Ugh, been there done that. EDD's phone system is a joke. I swear they hang up on purpose just to mess with us 🤬

For real tho! I've been trying to get thru for weeks. Its like they dont want us to get our benefits šŸ™„

Same here. I've tried calling at different times, still no luck. Anyone know if there's a best time to call?

I heard early morning is best, like right when they open. But who knows, it's all a crapshoot šŸŽ²

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying, I finally got through. Worth every penny imo

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they give you a specific time they'll call you back?

0 coins

Yeah, so you choose which EDD line you need to call, pay, and then they start calling for you. When they get a live agent, they forward the call to your phone. You don't have to do anything except wait for their call.

Have you tried contacting your local assembly member? They can sometimes help push things through with EDD. Worth a shot if you're stuck!

I feel your pain, OP. The disqualification process is a nightmare. Here's what I've learned from my experience: • Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and any communication with EDD. • Double-check that all your information is correct in your online account. • If you haven't already, file an appeal. You have 30 days from the date of the disqualification notice. • While waiting, keep certifying for benefits (if applicable) even if you're not receiving payments. • Look into whether you qualify for any other types of assistance in the meantime. • Consider reaching out to a workers' rights organization or unemployment lawyer for advice. Hang in there. The system is broken, but don't give up!

Thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely start keeping better records. Do you know how long the appeal process usually takes?

It can vary wildly, unfortunately. I've heard anywhere from 3 weeks to several months. The backlog is insane right now.

Has anyone had luck with the online portal? I've been trying to handle everything through there to avoid the phone nightmare.

The online stuff is hit or miss. Some things you can do, but for complicated issues like disqualification, you usually need to talk to a human 😩

I managed to upload some documents through the portal, but never got a response. Ended up having to call anyway. It's a mess.

Pro tip: if you do get through, ask for a tier 2 specialist right away. The first person you talk to often can't help with complex issues.

3 months?! Oh god, I hope mine doesn't take that long. How are you managing?

It's been rough ngl. Picked up some gig work and been leaning on family. Trying to stay positive but some days are harder than others

Anyone else notice that their system seems to "magically" work better right after the news reports on how bad it is? šŸ¤”

omg yes! It's like they scramble to look competent whenever there's bad press šŸ™„
