EDD hold times are insane - how to actually get through?

I've been waiting on hold with EDD for hours and I can't keep waiting. I have other important calls to make today. Has anyone else had this problem? How long did you wait before getting through? Any tips on the best time to call?

I found a way to solve long EDD hold times, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-bcTlmzoCM

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was on hold for 3 hours yesterday before I gave up. Its ridiculous how hard it is to get through to them. šŸ˜¤

Only 3 hours? You got lucky! I've been trying for days and haven't even gotten past the busy signal. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Same here. I've tried calling at different times of the day, but no luck. Anyone know if there's a best time to call?

I've heard early morning is best, like right when they open. But who knows if thats actually true or just a myth šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's kinda steep just to make a phone call. Is it really worth it?

I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. For me, it was definitely worth the $20 to finally get my issue resolved.

I tried it last week and it worked! Got through to an agent in about 45 minutes. Way better than spending all day on hold.

Pro tip: If you have Twitter, try reaching out to EDD's support account there. Sometimes they can help you without having to call in.

This is why the whole system needs to be overhauled. It's 2023, why are we still relying on phone calls for important government services? There should be a better online system or chat support or something.

Preach! šŸ™Œ The technology exists, they just need to implement it. But that would make too much sense, right? šŸ™„

Totally agree. I work in tech and it blows my mind how outdated some of these government systems are. They're probably still running on COBOL or something lol

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for months: ā€¢ Call right when they open at 8:00 AM. The queue fills up fast. ā€¢ If you get a busy signal, hang up and immediately redial. Sometimes you can catch an opening. ā€¢ Use the phone number ending in 2511 instead of the main line. ā€¢ Have all your info ready before you call (claim number, ID, etc.) ā€¢ Be patient and polite with the rep when you finally get through. They're dealing with a lot too. ā€¢ If one rep can't help, politely ask to speak with a tier 2 specialist. ā€¢ Keep a log of all your calls, including date, time, and who you spoke with. Hope this helps someone! It's a frustrating process, but persistence pays off.

What's the full number for the 2511 line? I've only been using the main one.

Mood. šŸ˜© Sometimes I think it'd be easier to just give up, but we can't let them win!
