What is the best time to call EDD - tried everything, need help with timing
I've been calling EDD for two weeks straight and I'm getting nowhere. I've tried mornings, afternoons, even staying up late thinking maybe less people call at night (spoiler: they're closed). Can someone please tell me what is the best time to call EDD? I'm losing my mind here. I've probably made 200+ attempts and either get the busy signal or sit on hold for 2+ hours just to get disconnected. There has to be a better time to call when the lines aren't completely jammed.

Wednesday and Thursday afternoons around 2-3pm work best for me. Avoid Mondays completely - everyone calls Monday morning after the weekend.

•Really? I've been trying Monday mornings thinking I'd be first in line. That explains why it's been impossible.

•Yeah Monday mornings are the worst. Also never call right at 8am - that's when everyone dials.

The secret nobody tells you - they ALL go to lunch from 12pm to 1:30pm. Like the entire call center shuts down. Don't waste your time calling during lunch.

Amelia Martinez
•Wait seriously? The whole call center takes lunch at the same time? That's insane!

•Yep, learned this the hard way after calling 50 times during lunch hour and getting nothing but busy signals.

•This explains so much! I kept getting the 'too busy' message every day around noon and couldn't figure out why.

After spending literally 3 full days calling manually, I found Claimyr and it changed everything. Got through in 15 minutes instead of hours of redialing.

•What's Claimyr? Is that some kind of calling service?

Lucas Adams
•Yeah, it's claimyr.com - they call for you and put you through when they reach an agent. Costs money but honestly worth every penny when you're spending entire days calling.

•I was skeptical about paying for something like this but after 4 weeks of failed attempts I caved and used it. Got through same day.

Pro tip: Start calling at 7:55am before they officially open. Use the pattern 1-wait-1-1-*** and press the numbers BEFORE the prompts finish to save time.

Amelia Martinez
•You can press the numbers before the prompts? I've been waiting for each message to finish!

•Yeah saves you like 30 seconds per call. When you're making 100+ attempts that adds up to a lot of time saved.

•This trick alone probably saved me 2 hours of dialing time. Game changer.

Friday afternoons are pointless. Even if you get through you won't resolve anything before the weekend and you'll have to call back Monday.

•Learned this lesson last Friday. Waited 2.5 hours on hold just to be told they'd have to research my issue and call me back next week.

Zoe Gonzalez
•Exactly! Friday after 2pm is basically useless unless it's a super simple question.

Don't call after 4pm any day. They stop taking new calls even though they're officially open until 5pm.

•Really? I've been trying until 5pm thinking I had the full hour.

•They wind down operations early. I've never gotten through after 4pm in probably 200 attempts.

•Can confirm this. After 4pm you just get the 'too busy' message constantly.

I keep a spreadsheet of all my calling attempts. Best success rate: Wednesday 2-3pm (got through 3 times). Worst: Monday 8-9am (0 success in 47 attempts).

Amelia Martinez
•You keep a spreadsheet? That's actually genius for tracking patterns.

•Had to! Going crazy without data. Also track hold times - average 1hr 45min when I do get through.

•I do the same thing! Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons definitely have the best success rates.

Both the 800 and 833 numbers go to the EXACT same call center. Don't let anyone tell you one is better than the other.

Noah Torres
•Wait really? I've been alternating between them thinking one might be less busy.

Natalie Wang
•Nope, same system. 800-300-5616 and 833-978-2511 are identical. Just wasted effort switching between them.

My cousin works for EDD and confirmed the lunch thing is real. She says 12-1:30 literally nobody answers phones because they're all at lunch.

Amelia Martinez
•That's so frustrating! They should put that information somewhere so people don't waste time.

Samantha Hall
•Right? She feels bad because she sees the call volume during lunch and knows people are trying. But it's union mandated break time.

•At least now we know! I was calling during lunch every day like an idiot.

I finally broke down and used Claimyr after reading about it here. Worth every dollar - got connected in 23 minutes and resolved my issue same day.

•How much does it cost? At this point I'm ready to pay anything to avoid more days of calling.

•Like $20 something but honestly I would have paid $200 after what I went through manually calling. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10 that shows how it works.

•Used them twice now. First time took 8 minutes to get through, second time was 31 minutes. Both way better than manual calling.

Set multiple alarms for 7:50am and start your coffee the night before. Make calling EDD your full-time job for the morning because that's what it takes.

•This is my life now. My whole morning routine revolves around calling EDD at 8am sharp.

•Same! I prep everything the night before like I'm going into battle.

•I take vacation days just to call EDD. It's ridiculous but necessary.

The system drops about 30-50% of calls even when you get on hold. Be prepared to start over multiple times even after waiting 2+ hours.

•This happened to me yesterday! Waited 1hr 47min then just got disconnected. I almost threw my phone.

•It's soul crushing. That's why I switched to using a calling service - they handle the redials when calls drop.

Emily Parker
•The call dropping is the worst part. All that time wasted for nothing.

Forget the specialist line rumors - that hasn't existed since the pandemic ended. There's only one queue now and everyone goes into it.

Victoria Scott
•Thank you! I've been trying to find this mythical specialist line for weeks.

Ezra Collins
•Yeah it's misinformation that keeps spreading. All calls go to the same general queue now.

If you're going to call manually, Wednesday 2pm is the sweet spot. But honestly save yourself the misery and use Claimyr - best money I ever spent.

Amelia Martinez
•Seems like everyone who tries Claimyr becomes a huge advocate for it.

•Because it actually works! After weeks of failed manual attempts, getting through in under 40 minutes feels like magic.

•The time savings alone is worth it. I was spending 6+ hours a day just redialing.

My phone bill was insane from all the calling attempts. Had to upgrade my plan twice because I was going over my minutes every month.
0 coins
Amelia Martinez
•I didn't even think about the phone bill impact! How many minutes were you using?
0 coins
Daniel Rogers
•Thousands. Between the redialing and the long holds, I was burning through my entire monthly allowance in a week.

Best time summary: Wednesday/Thursday 2-3pm. Avoid: Monday mornings, lunch 12-1:30pm, after 4pm any day, Friday afternoons. Good luck everyone!

•Or just skip the timing games and use an auto-dialer. Life's too short to spend it calling EDD manually.
