What is the fastest way to talk to an EDD representative - tried everything manual
I'm at my breaking point trying to reach someone at EDD. Been calling for 2 weeks straight using the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern on (800) 300-5616 but can't even get past the busy signal most days. When I do get through to hold, I've waited 2+ hours twice only to have the call drop. My claim has been pending for 6 weeks and I desperately need to speak with someone. What is the fastest way to talk to an EDD representative? I've tried calling right at 8am, avoiding lunch hours, different days of the week - nothing works consistently. Has anyone found a reliable method that actually gets you to a human quickly?

I feel your pain. Been in the same boat for 3 weeks. The system is completely overloaded and their phone infrastructure can't handle the volume. I've made 200+ attempts just this week.

•200+ attempts in one week? That's insane. How are you even keeping track of that many calls?

•I started keeping a tally sheet after day 3. Tuesday alone I called 67 times between 8am and 4pm.

The manual calling method is basically broken at this point. I wasted 3 weeks doing exactly what you're doing before I discovered there are automated services that can call for you.

•Automated services? What do you mean exactly?

•There's a service called Claimyr that dials EDD automatically, waits on hold, and then calls you back when an agent picks up. Got me through in 25 minutes versus the weeks I spent manually calling.

•Is that legit? Sounds too good to be true honestly.

Wednesday afternoons around 2pm seem to be the sweet spot if you're going to keep trying manually. But honestly the success rate is still maybe 1 in 50 attempts to even get on hold.

•I tried Wednesday at 2pm last week and still couldn't get through after 40 attempts. Maybe I just had bad luck?

•It's hit or miss even on the best days. The system is just overwhelmed beyond repair right now.

Pro tip: absolutely do NOT call between 12pm-1:30pm. The entire call center goes to lunch and nobody answers during that time. Found this out the hard way after wasting hours.

Zachary Hughes
•Wait, the ENTIRE call center takes lunch at the same time? How is that even allowed?

•Yep, it's like a ghost town during lunch. They should post this information but they don't.

•This explains why I never got through when calling during my own lunch break!

I tried the Claimyr service someone mentioned and got through to an agent in 18 minutes. Cost me $20 but saved me literally weeks of my life. Sometimes you just have to accept that your time is worth more than the fee.

•18 minutes?! How does that even work? Do they have some special connection?

•They use software to dial automatically and detect when an agent picks up. Then they conference you in. Check out claimyr.com if you want to see how it works.

•Just used this yesterday after seeing your comment. Got connected in 32 minutes and finally got my claim sorted. Best $20 I ever spent.

Monday mornings are the absolute worst time to call. Everyone who had weekend issues is calling first thing. I've never gotten through on a Monday morning in 50+ attempts.

•Good to know. I wasted all of last Monday morning trying. What about Friday afternoons?

•Friday after 3pm is pointless too. They seem to stop taking new calls even though they're supposedly open until 5pm.

Make sure you're pressing the menu options as fast as possible. You can often start entering 1-1-*** before the prompts finish playing. Saves about 30 seconds per attempt which adds up.

Zachary Hughes
•I've been waiting for each prompt to finish. Will definitely try this, thanks!

•Yeah, the system accepts the inputs immediately. No need to wait for the slow voice prompts.

•This trick alone probably saved me 2-3 hours over the course of a week of calling.

Both the 800 and 833 numbers go to the exact same queue despite what some people claim. Don't waste time switching between them.

Zachary Hughes
•Really? I heard the 833 number was for specialists or something.

Ella Lewis
•That's an old rumor from the pandemic. There's no specialist line anymore - they're identical.

Set realistic expectations - even if you get on hold, there's about a 40% chance the call will drop. Happened to me 3 times last week after waiting 1.5+ hours each time.

Zachary Hughes
•That's devastating. Is there any way to prevent the drops?

Andrew Pinnock
•Not really, it's a known issue with their phone system. They lose calls constantly.

•This is exactly why I switched to using Claimyr. Can't deal with 2-hour holds that end in nothing.

I'm on attempt 156 this week. Started keeping count after reading this thread. Wednesday 2pm was actually worse than Monday morning for me somehow.

Zachary Hughes
•156 attempts?! How do you have time for anything else?

Alexis Renard
•I don't. This has become my full-time job. Considering the automated option at this point.

For anyone still trying manually: start dialing at 7:55am before they officially open. Sometimes you can get in the queue early.

Zachary Hughes
•Does that actually work or do they just reject early calls?

Camila Jordan
•Hit or miss, but I've gotten through twice using this method. Worth trying if you're desperate.

After 4 weeks of manual calling with zero success, I finally tried Claimyr yesterday. Got connected to an agent in 35 minutes and resolved my pending claim. Should have done this weeks ago instead of wasting so much time.

•This is the third person in this thread who mentioned Claimyr worked. Maybe I should just bite the bullet.

•Honestly, calculate what your time is worth. I wasted 80+ hours calling manually. The $20 fee was nothing compared to that.

•There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10 that shows exactly how it works if you want to check it out first.

Thursday mornings around 10am have been decent for me, but still took 45 attempts to get on hold last week.
0 coins
Zachary Hughes
•45 attempts just to get on hold? And then you still have to wait 2+ hours?

Emma Swift
•Exactly. And then pray the call doesn't drop. It's honestly not sustainable.

The fastest way is honestly to stop trying to do it manually. I spent 3 weeks getting nowhere, used an automated service, and was talking to someone within 20 minutes. Sometimes you just have to admit when a system is broken.

Zachary Hughes
•Which service did you use? The Claimyr one people keep mentioning?

•Yes, Claimyr. Worked exactly as advertised. Wish I had known about it sooner.

•Same experience here. 28 minutes to get connected after weeks of failed manual attempts.

If you must keep trying manually, avoid calling after 4pm any day. They seem to stop accepting new calls even though they're supposedly open until 5pm.

Zachary Hughes
•That's good to know. I've been trying right up until 5pm thinking I had the full day.

•Save yourself the time. After 4pm you're just burning phone battery for nothing.

Reading through all these responses, it's clear the manual calling method is completely broken. I'm seeing success stories from multiple people who used Claimyr - getting through in 18-35 minutes versus the weeks we're all wasting with manual attempts. At this point I think I need to just accept that $20 is worth more than my sanity and the dozens of hours I've already lost. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, especially the timing tips about avoiding lunch hours and after 4pm. Going to try the automated service today.

•You're making the smart choice @Ian Armstrong. I was in the exact same position as you and @Zachary Hughes - completely burned out from weeks of failed manual attempts. Used Claimyr two days ago and got connected in 22 minutes. The relief of actually talking to a human after all that frustration was incredible. Don t'feel bad about paying the fee - your time and mental health are worth way more than $20. Good luck getting your claim sorted out!
