EDD Appeal Nightmare: Can't Get Through on Phone, Calls Dropping. Help!
I'm so frustrated with EDD. My benefits were denied and I'm trying to appeal, but I can't even get through to anyone on the phone. The calls keep dropping and I'm stuck on hold forever. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually talk to a real person?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a total nightmare rn. I was in the same boat last month. Spent hours trying to get through, only to have the call drop when I finally did. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach anyone 🤬

•Guys, I know it sucks but lets not assume malice. The system is just overwhelmed. Still doesnt make it any less frustrating tho

I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying, I was desperate enough to try anything. It's not ideal, but it got me through to an actual person

Here's what I've learned about the EDD appeal process: 1. File your appeal ASAP. You only have 30 days from the date on your denial notice. 2. Be thorough in your appeal letter. Explain why you believe the decision was wrong and include any supporting documents. 3. Keep calling EDD. Yes, it's a pain, but sometimes you can get info or help over the phone. 4. Consider contacting your local state representative. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 5. Prepare for your hearing. Gather all relevant documents and be ready to explain your case. 6. Be patient. The appeal process can take several weeks or even months. Hang in there, OP. It's a frustrating process, but don't give up!

•Thank you so much for this detailed info! Really appreciate it. Did you go through an appeal yourself?

•Yeah, I did. It took about 2 months total, but I eventually won my appeal. Just make sure you have all your ducks in a row and don't miss any deadlines!

pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 20 mins on hold last week. good luck!

have you tried reaching out to them on Twitter? Sometimes their social media team can help or at least escalate your issue

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they forgot the second D in EDD stands for DEVELOPMENT. More like Employment Development Disaster amirite?

•For real. We pay into this system our whole working lives and then when we need it, it's a complete mess. Something's gotta change
