EDD phone interview no-show - never received confirmation but marked as missed?
I'm at my wit's end trying to reach someone at EDD! I've been calling every day for nearly a month with no luck getting through. The worst part is I apparently missed a phone eligibility interview, but I NEVER received ANY confirmation about it - not in the mail or by email. Now my claim is showing issues and I'm terrified I'll be disqualified. Has this happened to anyone else? How did you finally get through to a real person? I've tried calling at different times of day (early morning, mid-day, right before closing) and it's always the same automated message saying they're experiencing high call volume. I can't afford to wait much longer as bills are piling up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

same thing happened to me last year. EDD is a complete mess. they scheduled an interview without telling me then disqualified me for 'not being available' smh

Did you ever get it resolved? I'm worried they'll just automatically disqualify me and I'll have to go through some lengthy appeal process.

You need to look in your UI Online account under

I've checked everywhere in my UI Online account and spam folder - nothing about an interview! I'll try submitting that question right now though. Thank you for the specific navigation path - the website is so confusing.

After dealing with EDD for years (unfortunately), I've found a service called Claimyr that actually works for getting through to EDD. It basically calls EDD for you and then connects you when an agent answers. Saved me HOURS of redial hell. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km\n\nFor the missed interview specifically, you should also fax (yes, seriously, fax in 2025) a letter explaining you never received notification. Include your claim number and contact info. The fax number is on their contact page. This creates a paper trail they can't ignore.

Wow, I didn't even know services like this existed! I'll check out the video. And you're right about the fax - I actually noticed they list fax as a contact method but thought nobody would actually use that anymore. I'll see if the local library has a fax service. Thanks for the detailed advice!

I work as an employment counselor and see this regularly. Here's what's happening: EDD is scheduling phone interviews for eligibility determinations, but due to system glitches, many notifications aren't being sent properly. However, their system still marks these as \

Thank you so much for this expert advice! I'll try calling at exactly 8:01 AM tomorrow. Quick question - should I continue certifying for benefits while this gets sorted out? I'm worried about doing something wrong and making the situation worse.

Yes, absolutely continue certifying every two weeks regardless of this issue! Many claimants stop certifying when there's a problem, which only creates more complications. The system needs continuous certification records even if payments are temporarily held during the eligibility determination. If you're found eligible, they'll release all held payments for weeks you properly certified.

This happnd to me!!!!! EDD is IMPOSSIBLE to get thru to!!!! I tried for TWO MONTHS to reach some1. My friend told me to ask for a TIER 2 specialist when u finally get someone on the phone. The regular agents dont have access to fix missed interview issues!!!! Keep trying diffrent phones too, some phones get blocked by their system I swear

That's not entirely accurate. While Tier 2 specialists have more authority, regular agents absolutely can document your situation and submit requests for interview rescheduling. The key is being clear about what happened and asking them to document in your file that you never received notification. No need to demand a Tier 2 immediately, which can actually delay your resolution.

dose anyone know if the eligibility interviews are always about income? my friend got 1 about availability for work but i think that's different

Eligibility interviews can be scheduled for many different reasons, not just income verification. Common reasons include:\n\n- Work availability issues\n- Job separation reasons (voluntary quit or discharge)\n- Refusal of suitable work\n- School attendance affecting availability\n- Ability to work concerns\n- ID verification follow-ups\n- Income reporting discrepancies\n\nWithout the interview notice, the original poster won't know which type of eligibility issue is being investigated, which makes it even more important to get in touch with EDD quickly.

I tried that Claimyr service somebody mentioned above after fighting with EDD for weeks. It actually worked - got through to a real person in about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. They charged for it but honestly it was worth every penny considering I was about to lose way more in benefits. The rep was able to see that my interview notification was marked as \

That's really good to know! If I can't get through tomorrow morning at 8:01, I'm definitely trying this. At this point, I just need to talk to someone before they completely disqualify me over something that wasn't my fault.

its ridiculous we have to jump through so many hoops just to get unemployment WE PAID INTO. the whole system is designed to make people give up. keep pushing and document EVERYTHING

UPDATE: EDD actually announced a system upgrade happening next month that's supposed to address these notification issues. Unfortunately, that doesn't help right now, but for anyone reading this thread in the future, you should start receiving more reliable notifications through multiple channels (mail, email, and text if you opt in).

Thanks for sharing this! I was able to get through this morning using the 8:01 AM trick you suggested. They rescheduled my interview for next week and added a note to my file about the notification issue. The rep also recommended I opt into text notifications once the new system is implemented. Appreciate everyone's help here!
