EDD Unemployment: How to extend benefits? Tips for calling and what to expect
Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out if my unemployment benefits are gonna be extended. I've been getting them for a while now, and I'm not sure what's gonna happen next. Has anyone gone through this process recently? What should I expect when I call to ask about it? Any tips on what to say or questions to ask would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

I just went through this last month. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your claim info and recent benefit statements 2. Call EDD (good luck getting through lol) 3. Ask directly if your benefits will be extended 4. Find out if there's any paperwork you need to submit 5. Get the name of the person you talked to and any reference numbers Make sure you write everything down! And follow up ASAP if they need more info from you.

To answer your question about unemployment benefits extensions: Extensions depend on federal and state legislation. Currently, many states are offering extensions due to ongoing economic challenges. When calling the EDD, inquire if the federal Extended Benefits (EB) or Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) programs are applicable in your state. Before calling, ensure you have updated personal and claim information, as this will help manage the call effectively. Claimyr can be a useful tool if you're struggling to get through to EDD, especially if time is critical for you. However, $20 could be a lot for some, so weigh the cost against the value of time saved. Always check official updates from EDD and government websites, as they provide the most reliable information on benefits and extensions. Ultimately, staying informed and prepared is your best strategy.

Unpopular opinion: maybe it's time we all start looking for jobs instead of relying on unemployment? 🤷♂️

•Searching for jobs while receiving benefits is encouraged, but it's a personal decision based on individual circumstances.

Fun fact: if you spell EDD backwards, it's DDE. Which stands for "Don't Depend on EDD" 😂

•If you're unsure, maybe try it when you have an urgent matter to resolve. It's all about balancing cost vs. time saved.

ugh, calling EDD is the WORST. I spent like 3 hours on hold last time 😫 Anyone know a better way to get through?

•I found a way! There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials the menu, waits on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20 but it's worth it imo. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

•$20??? That sounds like a scam. Why should we have to pay to talk to EDD? 🤔

•I get the skepticism, but it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. You're paying for the time saved, not for talking to EDD. But hey, if you prefer sitting on hold for hours, you do you 🤷♂️

•How does it actually work tho? Like, do they give you a special number or something?

Paolo Marino
•Claimyr works by automating the call and hold process with a system that gets you connected to an EDD representative faster. You don't get a special number, but you might get connected quicker.

•It's true, calling early can avoid the rush. But remember, EDD peak hours can still vary, so early isn't always guaranteed.

Has anyone heard about the new bill they're trying to pass? Supposedly it'll extend benefits for another 13 weeks. Fingers crossed 🤞
