SDI benefit period ending - How to extend? What to expect on call?
Hey everyone, I'm at the end of my disability benefit period and need to extend it. Any advice on how to handle this when I call? I'm nervous about the process and want to make sure I do everything right. What should I expect during the call? And is there anything I should prepare beforehand?

When you call, make sure to clearly explain that you've reached the end of your benefit period and need guidance on extending it. Be prepared to provide your claim number and any relevant medical info. They might ask for updated documentation from your doctor, so have that ready if possible. Good luck!

•Thanks for the advice! Do you know if there's a specific form I need to fill out for the extension?

•I'm not 100% sure, but I think there's a form called DE2525XX for extending benefits. Double-check on the official website or ask the rep when you call. They'll know for sure!

Ugh, good luck dealing with the disability office. I swear, its like they purposely make everything as difficult as possible 🙄

•For real tho! I spent 3 hours on hold last week just to get disconnected. The system is so broken 😤

•Y'all need to chill. The people working there are just doing their jobs. It's not their fault the system is overwhelmed.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•I've used it twice now. Worked both times. Beats sitting on hold all day!

Make sure you have all your ducks in a row before calling. They'll probably want: - Your claim number - Dates of your current benefit period - Updated medical info from your doctor - Any changes in your condition - Employment status Be polite but firm, and don't be afraid to ask questions if you're unsure about anything. Good luck!

•Pro tip: scan everything and keep digital copies. Saves so much hassle when they inevitably lose something on their end.

Hey OP, just a heads up - sometimes they'll try to rush you off the phone. Don't let them! Make sure all your questions are answered before hanging up. And always get the name of who you talked to, just in case you need to reference the call later.

•That's great advice, thank you! I'll definitely make sure to get their name.

Also, if you're calling about an extension, try calling early in the morning (like right when they open) or later in the afternoon. I've found the wait times are usually shorter then. And if you get disconnected, don't give up! It happened to me twice before I finally got through. The whole process took about 15 minutes once I actually got someone on the line, so it's not as bad as it seems once you're talking to a real person.

•Thanks for the timing tips! I never thought about calling at different times of day. Do you remember what specific questions they asked during your call? I want to be as prepared as possible.
