Need help confirming new SDI claim - what to expect when calling?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to confirm my new disability insurance claim and figure out if I need to do anything else. Has anyone gone through this process recently? What should I expect when I call? I'm a bit nervous about missing any important steps.

I just went through this last month! Here's what you need to do: • Have your claim number and ID ready before you call • Write down all your questions beforehand • Ask them to confirm your claim status • Find out if you're missing any documents • Get clear deadlines for submitting anything extra Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

•Thank you so much! This is really helpful. Did they ask you for any specific documents during your call?

•Glad I could help! They asked me for a copy of my most recent pay stub and a doctor's note confirming my disability. But it might be different for you depending on your situation.

•Great advice! I'd add: take notes during the call. These ppl can be confusing af sometimes 🙄

•Same boat here. Been on hold for hours every day this week. Starting to feel like a full-time job just trying to talk to someone!

•Have you guys tried calling right when they open? I had better luck getting through that way.

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

•It's legit! You pay, give them your number, and they call you when they get an agent. Saved me hours of hold time.

•idk man, paying to talk to a government agency? seems sketchy

•I get the skepticism, but it's not like they're pretending to be the agency. They just wait on hold so you don't have to. Worth it for me 🤷♂️

Make sure you double-check all the info on your claim! I thought mine was all set, but turns out they had my birthdate wrong and it caused a huge delay. Don't assume anything is correct lol

•Honestly, I think it's just years of bureaucracy piling up. But yeah, it's a mess.

Hey OP, don't forget to ask about any waiting periods! Some claims have a week or two before benefits kick in. Caught me off guard when I filed 😓

•Oh wow, I had no idea about waiting periods. Thanks for the heads up!
