SDI Payment Uncertainty After Extending Disability Time Off - Will It Process?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I just extended my time off on disability, but I'm not sure if the payment will be processed. Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm worried about how long it might take or if there's anything else I need to do. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I've been through this before. It can be a bit of a hassle, but don't worry too much. First thing you should do is double-check that your extension request was received. Sometimes they can get lost in the system. Have you gotten any confirmation email or letter?

•Thanks for the reply! I haven't received any confirmation yet. How long did it take for you to hear back?

•It took about a week for me to get a confirmation letter. If you don't hear anything in 10 business days, I'd definitely follow up with them.

•A week? Luckyyou. It took me almost a month to get any kind of response. The system is so backed up rn 🙄

Ugh, dealing with disability payments is THE WORST. I swear they make it complicated on purpose. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get a straight answer.

•I've been trying to call but keep getting stuck on hold forever. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. •Wait, seriously? $20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. Is this even legit?

•I know it sounds crazy, but I swear it's legit. I was skeptical too, but after spending hours on hold myself, it was worth every penny. Saved me so much time and frustration.

Make sure you keep ALL your paperwork and document everything. I learned that the hard way. Take screenshots of online submissions, keep copies of faxes, note down every phone call. Trust me, it'll save you a headache later if theres any dispute.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes the status updates there before they send out any notifications. Might be worth a look!

I'm in the same boat as you, OP. Extended my disability last month and still waiting to hear back. This whole process is so stressful. Hang in there!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your online account daily for updates 2. If you haven't received confirmation in 7-10 business days, call them 3. Keep a log of all communication attempts 4. Make sure you've submitted all required medical documentation 5. If you're really stuck, consider contacting your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help push things through Remember, the system is overloaded right now due to the pandemic, so everything is taking longer than usual. But don't let that stop you from being proactive. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Also, make sure you're financially prepared for a possible delay in payments. It sucks, but sometimes these things can take a while to process. If you're in a pinch, look into local resources that might be able to help in the meantime. Good luck, and don't give up!

•This is great advice. I wish I had known about contacting my state rep when I was going through this. Could've saved me weeks of stress!
