EDD SDI extension only resulted in partial payment - system shows blocked period. Help?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my disability payments. I got an extension on my disability claim, but when I checked my account, I only got a partial payment. The system is showing that I was blocked off for most of the extension period. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm not sure what to do next and could really use some advice on how to handle this with EDD.

Hey OP, just a heads up - sometimes these "blocks" can be due to system glitches. I had something similar happen and it turned out to be an error on their end. Make sure to ask them to double-check if there's any technical issue causing this. Don't let them gaslight you into thinking you did something wrong!

•So true! Always question any unexplained blocks or deductions. Errors happen more often than you'd think.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting for hours. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Wait, seriously? $20 to skip the hold time? Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•Idk man, paying to talk to a government agency feels wrong. But then again, so does waiting on hold for 3 hours 🤔

•I've tried it too and it did save me time. It's a bit unfortunate we have to resort to such measures, but sometimes you have to do what you can to get the help you need.

Plot twist: What if we all show up at the EDD office with lawn chairs and snacks? Make the wait time a block party 🎉 Maybe they'll fix the system if we're all camped outside lmao

•Knowing EDD, they'd probably make us fill out a form to attend our own protest 🙄

•Haha, wouldn't that be a sight? Might actually draw some media attention to the issues at least.

have you tried checkin your online account? sometimes the system updates before they send out notices. might save you a call if the info is there

•Good point. The online system sometimes reflects changes faster than the mail notifications. It's always worth a quick check.

Friendly reminder to everyone: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online update. You never know when you'll need to prove what you were told or when. CYA always with EDD!

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I swear they make these systems complicated on purpose. Have you tried calling them yet? Be prepared to wait on hold for hours 🙄

Hi everyone, regarding the use of Claimyr and other services like it, while they may expedite getting through to an agent, it's important to weigh the cost against your budget. If it's affordable and saves you significant time and stress, it could be worthwhile, especially considering the frustration many experience with EDD's phone system. However, always verify any service's credibility and read reviews before purchasing. Additionally, keep in mind that contacting a local representative or exploring other escalation channels might provide assistance without additional cost. Stay informed and be sure to choose the option that best fits your needs.

anyone else feel like we need a support group for dealing with EDD? 😅 "Hi, my name is [redacted] and I've been on hold with EDD for 3 years"

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with EDD. Worth a shot if you're getting nowhere on your own.

•Good suggestion! Representatives have aides who can often expedite these processes.

Been there, done that. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your docs (approval notice, payment statements, etc.) 2. Write down key dates (when you got the extension, when payments stopped) 3. Call EDD (be prepared for a loooong wait) 4. Explain calmly but firmly that you got an extension but weren't paid fully 5. Ask specifically why you were blocked and what can be done to fix it 6. Get the name of who you talk to and a reference number for the call 7. Follow up in writing if they don't resolve it on the call Don't let them brush you off. This is your money and you're entitled to it. If the first person can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. Good luck!

•Definitely gather all your docs before calling. Extension approval notice, payment statements, dates of everything. Write it all down so you don't forget when you're on the phone. Good luck!
