EDD Nightmare: Denied Workers Comp, Can't Reach Anyone for Disability Benefits. Help!
I'm having trouble with my disability claim. It started as a workers comp claim but I was denied, so now I need to get regular disability benefits. I can't get through to anyone on the phone and there's no status update on the website. Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you manage to speak to a real person?

I found a way to solve disability claim communication issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJJ-Stf-KU4

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a nightmare to navigate. Have you tried calling right when they open? I've heard that's the best time to get through.

•Yeah, I've tried that. No luck so far. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: keep calling even if you get the busy signal. Sometimes it takes 50+ attempts, but you'll eventually get through if you're persistent.

•This is why the system is broken. We shouldn't have to spend hours trying to reach a government agency 🤦♂️

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make this easier for free.

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

•Sure! You just go to their website, choose the department you need to reach, pay the fee, and they start calling. When they get a real person, your phone rings and you're connected. No guarantee, but they refund you if it doesn't work.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with EDD: • Always keep detailed records of your calls and attempts to contact them • Use their online portal to submit questions when possible • If you do get through, ask for a direct number or extension for follow-ups • Consider reaching out to your local state representative's office for help • Be prepared with all your claim info before calling • Don't give up! It's frustrating, but persistence pays off Hope this helps someone navigate this mess of a system!

I'm in the same boat. Been trying to get my claim sorted for 3 months now. This whole system is a joke 🤡

•3 months? Amateur hour. I've been dealing with this nonsense for over a year now 😭

•Oof, a year? I don't know how you're staying sane. This process is soul-crushing.

Quick question - did you appeal the workers comp denial? Sometimes that's faster than starting a new disability claim from scratch.

•I didn't even know that was an option! How do I go about appealing?

•You should've received info about appealing with your denial notice. If not, check the workers comp board website. There's usually a deadline, so act fast!

Hot take: the system is designed to be this difficult on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. Change my mind. 🤔

•100% agree. It's all about saving money for the state, not helping people.

•Idk man, never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. The govt just sucks at everything lol
