Struggling to get STD claim update - any tips to actually reach someone?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my short-term disability benefits and I need to get an update on my claim. Has anyone else been struggling to get information about their STD benefits lately? It's been a real headache trying to get through to someone who can help me out. Any advice on how to speed up the process or get a straight answer would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been dealing with the same issue for weeks now. It's like they're purposely making it difficult to get any info. Have you tried calling early in the morning? I heard that's when the lines are less busy.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed I can finally get through to someone 🤞

•Early morning calls are hit or miss tbh. I've had better luck calling right after lunch. Seems like thats when they're in a better mood lol

•Good point! I guess it really depends on the day. Maybe try both and see what works best for you, OP?

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Kinda skeptical about paying for something like that...

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho. They even refund you if it doesn't work.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do you have to download an app or something?

•No app needed! You just go to their website, choose the department you want to call, pay, and then they start calling for you. When they get a real person, your phone rings and you're connected. Super simple.

Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes its faster than calling, and you might be able to see any updates there.

The whole system is a joke 🤡 I've been waiting for an update on my claim for over a month now. It's like they want us to give up and go away. Hang in there, OP!

•Preach! 🙌 It's ridiculous how hard they make it. We're already dealing with health issues, and then we gotta fight for our benefits too? Smh

Here's what I've learned from dealing with STD claims for years: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of every call, email, and interaction. 2. Be persistent but polite. The person on the other end is probably overworked. 3. Use multiple channels - phone, email, online portal if available. 4. Know your rights. Read up on your state's disability laws. 5. Consider getting an advocate if things are really stuck. 6. Follow up regularly, but give them time to process between check-ins. Hope this helps! It's a frustrating process, but stay strong and don't give up on what you're entitled to.

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records of my interactions. Do you have any recommendations for finding a good advocate?

•Glad to help! For advocates, check with local legal aid societies or disability rights organizations. Some labor unions also offer assistance. Just be cautious of anyone charging high fees upfront.

Pro tip: if you can, try to get the direct extension or email of someone in the claims department. Makes follow-ups wayyy easier.

•How do you even manage that? Every time I call, I get a different person who knows nothing about my case 🙄

•It's not easy, but sometimes if you get a helpful rep, you can ask if theres a way to reach them directly for follow-ups. Some will give you their extension. Worth a shot!

Ive heard rumors that they're updating their systems soon. Supposedly it'll make everything faster. Anyone know if thats true or just more 🐂💩?

Listen up, y'all. The key is to be a squeaky wheel. Call every. single. day. Eventually, they'll get so annoyed they'll fast-track your claim just to get rid of you. Works like a charm 😈
